Title: REPLY button on Board
Post by I, Robot on Feb 12th, 2024 at 3:57pm
Hi FD.
Just a wondering curiosity.
Peccary's Board doesn't have a [Reply] button for me to activate on the Board (Music, TV, Entertainment) he Moderates.
He has me under 'permanent ban'. That's fine by me, he's the Moderator and the advantage of this is that it negates any 'accidental' posting I may make (via the bottom list) to breach that Ban.
Sort of a Prevention, better than Cure situation.

Recently I have had to ask for 3 members who have breached their Permanent Ban on the Extremism Exposed Board that I Moderate for, to be banned as is due to the Rules.
I know I've been banned once for such a breach. Lesson learned long ago. (I know I've been banned for even lesser things here, pending 'moods')

Do you think it would be better to have some sort of activation to 'prevent' accidental breaches (as they call it, but I know of one who purposely breached it and lied about it)?
This would carry over into not having to bother VIC, Setanta or even yourself to full-fill the Ban implementation as Gmods, Admin and of course, having to 'ban' someone - as you can see, the 'bitter'  :'( responses by those who are banned.

Am just taking into account about a more 'positive' outcome as some have complained about my Moderation of 'banning' them. Just doing my job.

Do you think it would be better to have what Peccary has implemented in removing the [Reply] button factor regarding permanent Bans?
Or do you think it allows Mods to, upon a whim, prevent anyone from posting in the Boards they Moderate without thorough process, etc, etc.

Just curious as to why one Moderator has it on his Board - while others do not?

...this Topic probably belongs in FEEDBACK BOARD, but I know not everyone can post there - if that matters on this subject?

No, you are not banned.

And I don't have the power to remove the "Reply" button.

It's a glitch, and I was contacted by a GMod who asked me if I wanted it fixed.

I replied:

Quote:
Hi *****************,

Sure, if FD can fix it ask him to do so.

I had no knowledge of the issue.

Cheers,

GP

It's totally out of my control, and at the moment nobody is banned from my forum.

Peccary posted in his Board of Moderation:

I replied: "Yes, please have it fixed.  I don't want him banned from my forum" (paraphrasing).

This isn't an 'attack' at or against you Peccary.
I have a feeling its a 'glitch' or something else.
Did contact a Gmod about this and basically I thought "I would like one of those please!" as it might soften the blow for those who are under a permanent ban wether they breach it on purpose or mistake.
As I have believed, I am under permanent ban (not receiving anything to say otherwise)  - so I found it a neat safety net, in case I made the mistake via noticing the Topic and not the Board it was in and posting from that bottom list.

...just curious.  ;)

I was told it's "a software permissions setting that only FD can change", and I've asked FD to fix it.

All good.
Am just wondering if FD thinks it would be a good idea to implement or just stick to the report to Gmods/Admin who members 'breach their ban', etc.
It's just an odd thing that I noticed a few months back.

It's a feature that FD uses on the Feedback board -
half of us don't see a reply button including me.

;D
You're a funny man. There's even less buttons there now in Peccary's Board, than there was before. Leave it at that.  :D

Well, well!!!!  Why do we MRB Mods not have that facility available to us?  It takes all the hassle out of a ban in a MRB.

Well that is the point I was offering in 'consideration' not really a set option. I was more interested in FreeDivers and VIC/Set's opinions if it would make things more easier for 'them' more than us Mods.

The side-effect could be Mods just removing it from Member's use without warning or PM's to that Member. More a 'block' than a ban.

Again, just wondering what FD, VIC & Set would think?

*JaSin puts his hands on FD's head like a blind man, seeing if he can read into the crystal ball.

My guess is that it's a feature only available to an administrator.
I don't think even the Gmods have it.

I think you're right. FD is wise not giving me access to the Board that Peccary resides at.  ;) :D
