Title: Juke Box Post by Sophia on Jan 26th, 2024 at 3:02pm
Does anyone have one?
We bought a 25 record playing 1015 OMT Wurlitzer juke box 30 years ago and last few years it’s not picking up records and playing, I’ve been suited up to $2,500 for a rebuild. Sigh… I’ve of the very last juke box repairers in Oz …. Might have to …. 61678BC5-DB1D-4C9D-B99D-F46C63AA7135.jpeg (121 KB | 23

I have a pre-1950's Westinghouse table Record/Radio player.
Mint condition. Got given it from the household of a deceased estate - one and only owner. Pulled it apart to find one of the transistors worn out. Still has all the original make stamps inside and more. Still has the descriptive paper on the record player. Just haven't got around getting the non-compromising parts. Will be selling it once its back up and running. |

Sounds like a beautiful vintage furniture item!
I have a name and number of someone that may be able to help if you want I can pm details. Yeah… finding parts for old vintage stuff… even for machinery or cars.. it’s a pain … I’m relentless as I will phone around getting as much info or businesses that may help when I’m looking for an electronic part… like recently… I needed a power pack 5v 6a. And it never surprises me how many electronic places are useless… then I was told to try a name of a place in Sydney… no they didn’t have phone number… so I find number… and voila they have the part I needed! And it was on special! Lucky me. But I spend hours searching and phoning to get a result. |

There's a shut up place out Harden (near Temora) way.
Looking through a crack in the boarding - I could make out a dusty dark shop full of dust covered Arcade Tables, stand-up machines and Pinball machines. ...I wonder if the game machine Tron is in there? :-? |

Wooh, that sounds like an incredible old place. I was going to say… there must be old warehouses with all the old stuff/replacement parts needed…. Somewhere…. Seek and you will find!

I even have a good collection of very old 'brick' Records.
1920's I think? Past the 100 year mark, so could be worth a bit now. |

Wow records 100 years old! Just think of how many hands it went through. How it survived wars…
I collected vinyl records when no one wanted them once cassette and then CDs came in. Lucky to get .50c to $1 then….But now… as what happens…. Something loses value then becomes a collectable later. Check out eBay and see if any come up … that will give you an indication of what you could get. If you decide to sell. I recently acquired a pianola with the rolls of music! It’s amazing! Everyone is giving away pianolas and pianos! Maybe that value of giveaway will change later? |

There's a huge 'collectable' building out Ganmain way (besides the Straw Bale complexes) and I found some books over 100 years of age. The prices on it were around $30+ but at 100+ years old, I don't think the old schooler knew what he could get for them on the Net. I bought them as a gift anyway.
Anything past the 100 year mark and the worth jump's considerably and justifiably so. Strange that. No-one wants their Piano's anymore? Wonder why? |

It puzzled me. Maybe many have inherited it from their more musical playing rellies. Learning music is a skill and does cost money for lessons and not cheaply. Then it takes commitment and time to keep the skill …. everyone these days seem so time poor and don’t put in the time. Plus I think people just want the room as a minimalist trend is taking hold. On fb marketplace… there are hordes of freebies… it’s nice because it’s giving stuff a second chance to a good home. I like that. With large items like pianos…. It takes an effort to move and transport it… with piano trolley and trailer with ramp. Then once piano is re-located … after it settles, will need tuning… and I have no idea what that costs nowadays. I’m keeping my old 1878 circa piano. I’ve put too many years of music learning into it. Plus I just love it… black with carved legs, gold etching and gold candleabras. It just has a presence about it. For many years I felt it had a spook with it… but a friendly one … probably why I seem drawn to play classical … :-? Here is a pic below of mine I found on the net… F25353D7-BE30-41C7-9D4B-C7B81887011E.jpeg (173 KB | 27

Wow! :o I'm no expert on Pianos - but that looks beautiful.
Look on the bright side. Anyone with a Piano, will have something more to offer their guests who visit them - than just another Xbox/Playstation. |

There certainly is a presence about musical instruments. I will tell you what I had learnt over the decades RE: old pianos. Best to go for full iron frame, under dampers, and to check for borers (as they love old wood)… a little mirror on telescopic stick, a torch… and look at underside of piano … Then of course if you like the look of piano as it’s like a piece of furniture. Also it needs to be against an internal wall, so the weather change doesn’t effect the piano tuning much. |

Good advice Sophia. I don't know if I'll ever get myself a piano. But its good to know if I know someone who is thinking of buying one.

Good news! We found a juke box repairer guy and he got our juke box working! It wasn’t as bad as we thought (having quotes of around $2,000)
It cost $500 and we’ve been playing old records on it again! It’s nice to see it all lit up with rotating lights and bubble tubes. Such a joy! Yay :) Merry Xmas tooo meeee! |
