Title: Whitest Sands in the World! Must see!

Whitest Sands in the World! Must see!

That's Tourism Australia's callout for hoards of Sydneysiders and Canberrans to flock in droves to Hyams Beach in Jervis Bay area.

What they don't tell you (or care) is that there is practically no infrastructure to cope with this level of invasion from Terrorists, er - I mean Tourists.
It's just one road in, one parallel street running along the beach for a short bit and a few off streets.

What they won't tell you is that come Holiday periods - the locals of Hyams Beach are 'invaded' by hoards of Tourists that drive in and basically there is no room to manouvre as the streets become basically over-parked and grid-locked.
The locals find cars in their driveway, up their driveways and on their front lawns.
I did Taxi in JB years ago and we never accepted to pick people up from Hyams Beach at such times because it took over an hour to get into it and out again (that's one taxi off the hook for 2 hours minimum). At the most, we could drop them off if they walked a few kilometres in and pick them up if they did the same back out.
But Tourism Australia couldn't give a rats about the locals who live there whose lives are compromised by Tourism and Tourism's lack of HELP in solving the problem it causes - like funding infrastructure to SUPPORT their sales pitch.

Let me remind you of the rubbish as well. The small amenities and everything else designed to just cater to the locals of Jervis Bay at the most.

I won't forget that back when I lived in JB. There was talk of BIG PEOPLE making plans to 'force' the locals to sell up - so 'apartments' could be put in over Hyams Beach to 'cash in'.
...don't you just like Australian Tourism Industry?
It's right up there with the American Health Industry. ;)

Now Tourism Australian/NSW (whatever!) is at it again.
They never learn or care - just look at ALICE SPRINGS!

You should have turned the meter off and opened a hotdog stand!

At five bucks each you could have made thousands!

And all thanks to tourism!

A well misused neologism is 'troll'.

At the weak end, it's simply used to refer to posts that are not aligned with the sentiments of the OP.

I'd say this beach in Albany WA has the whitest, most
   unpolluted sands in the world...

Well Geoff you 'can' be right as a lot of beaches around the world 'claim' to have the Whitest Sand.
So how 'cheap-shot' is the Tourism Board?
"Tourists are so gullible - they're worth exploiting!"

Common knowledge that many Locals around Australia who have their 'homes' exploited by Tourism - call them Terrorists.

Yep - Fraser Island is inundated with them.

Rainbow Beach & particularly Inskip Point gets turned into a prison/refugee camp during holidays.

Inskip is that bad there are outbreaks of sickness caused by Giardia.

Quote:
Giardia is a tiny parasite (germ) that causes the diarrheal disease giardiasis. Giardia is found on surfaces or in soil, food, or water that has been contaminated with feces (poop) from infected people or animals.

Gee. That's bad. :o

The thing about Hyams Beach is that there is a real lack of infrastructure to cater to these mass congestions of Tourists that swarm in sometimes on a long weekend, other times during the 'weeks' of Holidays. The locals get so fed up at their 'home' being compromised.
Sure there has always been Tourists to Hyams Beach, but never like when after the Tourism Board promoted it 'commercially' first time. You could say it was a lot more 'bearable' for the locals. At least they could get to their driveways.

There is no support from the Tourism Board to set up Shuttle services from a more accessible part further up the road coming into the little area - with 'carparks' to accommodate the 'traffic'.
This why Locals get angry  >:( and frustrated. Sometimes taking matters into their own hands like removing the tyres from the cars parked in their driveways and on lawns. Then the 'entitled' Tourists get agro and so on.

I can see why Alice Springs went down hill via the mass exploitation of Tourism there that made it become known as 'Rip Off Rock' experience. It's obvious that Tourism just went  for the fast money and took what it could, without putting anything back into the area.

You could say that the Tourism 'culture' in this country can be appalling.

Also. Jet Ski's were banned in Sydney not so long ago and guess what!? Tourism Board promoted Jervis Bay as a Jet Ski Friendly Paradise and when I was with Marine Rescue there - the Jet Skiers were the major problem (Cops involved, etc) in harrassment of other people, safety issues and more. Suddenly the call-outs tripled in January for the first time in the first year the Tourism Jet Ski invasion happened. I can't say what it is like now?
