Title: Absurdity of Gender "Reveal" Parties
Post by AusGeoff on Jan 2nd, 2024 at 8:02am

Popping a helium balloon filled with either pink or blue
confetti is one way for expectant couples to share the sex
of their unborn baby with friends, family and sometimes
a wider community online.

While some say gender reveal parties are "harmless fun"
and a chance to bring friends and family together,
diversity advocates are calling for parents to not place
undue emphasis on their child's sex
.

Gender reveals are a relatively new tradition. The woman
who "invented" them, American (who else!) blogger Jenna
Karvunidis, has written and spoken about how she regrets
popularising the trend
.

New mother Kristy Wise says she's alarmed by the online
videos of arguments over a babies' sex...

"I've seen a lot of these things on TikTok and Facebook, where
people are genuinely having arguments over if it's a boy or if
it's a girl.   And I think, how ungrateful …why care?",  she said.
"If you're having a baby, you're having a baby. I think the sex
is irrelevant as long as it's a happy, healthy baby. You just
enjoy the moment really
."

Penny Johnston, host of ABC podcast Baby Talk said parents
become fixated on having one gender or the other.  "If you don't
get the one you want it can be massively disappointing," she said.

—I'd be guessing that prospective parents who undertake these
gender parties have always been self-centred, self-serving individuals
who make the day all about themselves, with the sex of their baby
being ultimately immaterial.  It's simply a chance to draw attention
to themselves as another means of massaging their own egos.

And pity the poor kid who grows up with parents like these.    :(

I'd be pretty sure that pregnancy will be coming to an end fairly shortly
The same would go for being allowed to drive your motor vehicle

We live in a world where people value safety as the number one overriding factor for their existence
It seems ridiculous to me but many people are stuck in that paradigm

Covid revealed the general anxiety in the population around threat

Sometime in the next few decades it will be entirely possible to grow a fetus to maturity in a culture medium
Sometime in the next few decades it will be undeniable that autonomous vehicles have less accidents then vehicles being driven by human beings

Giving birth to a child is a risky process
Driving an automobile is a risky process

Humans being the soft wishy washy sloppy individuals that they are evolving into
Will be quite happy to give up these two activities

You will be able to fertilize an egg
Do a bit of genetic manipulation to increase intelligence or height or sporting pro s
Drop it in a bucket of culture medium
And pick up your baby nine months later
You will probably be able to get Amazon to deliver it to you

Welcome to the world of the pandered sloppy weak source pleasure seeking useless automaton
A few balloons coloured pink or blue are only the beginning of our demise

I've always thought it a stupid idea .... there's not much that comes out of the US these days regarding babies & children that isn't stupid or in the very least unwarranted.

But my main concern would be the idiots releasing helium filled balloons into the environment .... as if ordinary air filled ones aren't bad enough bursting, blowing all over the place and into drains & water ways.

The helium ones end up in our rivers & oceans & become dangerous for fish, sea mammals and turtles.

I think if the parents gleefully know the gender of their coming baby, there is nothing wrong with celebrating it... all those wowsers and 'genderists' can go to hell... it's not their baby so they can STFU.

Nobody asked them ..................

Oh, well - we'll go back to enforcing burning of them in the backyard ... problem solved.

They're already doing that.

Well considering 90% of all depictions of Humans both modern and historical are of the 'male - being DARKER' and the 'female - being whiter' (and smaller, like the white population in general compared to the physically superior Darky populations).

It's only fitting that any male born 'whiter' by mistake should undergo 'transitional surgeries' to rectify the mistake and make them into the Politically-Woke Correct of being a Female.

I never thought it was anything problematic about gender reveal… it’s either one or the other ….
It’s a fun way to get together and I do agree with Mr. Graps re: releasing of helium balloons is polluting!
I like the idea of cutting a cake and pink or blue icing or jelly etc oozing out …

Only after the ceremony is done... I see nothing wrong with parents making a big deal out of their coming baby ... can't see why anyone would assemble a bunch of balloons with different colours inside and take a straw poll of something.... more like...

"We know the GENDER (buzz word - trigger word) of our future baby - open your balloons and see..."

Afterwards you send the balloons to hell!!  :o

Gotcha... of course - in the modern dialogue, that child has no fixed gender.... so those parents are being totally silly anticipating that a girl is a girl or a boy is a boy regardless of any scientific proof ... How DARE They??!!
