But when I first joined I didn't receive an activation email. Not a big issue as I emailed and it was sorted.

But someone I know from another forum is trying to join but says she emailed a while ago but hasn't had a reply. Her nickname is Stellar.

There is no Stellar listed in the Members Admin lists.   She may like to try again to join.

Hi Nemo and AI.  Why am I getting the message this form is not secure?  And autofill has been turned off?  Whatever that is.

I'm kinda worried about this site not being secure.

I will also have to try to get my avatar over here. 

I've had that occasionally over the years.
Just a glitch. I think it eventually goes away, not sure to remember though.

Some of the forms come up as not secure - not sure why that happens but seems OK

I think your avatar needs to be no bigger than 400 pixels wide to work here?

To bung your avatar up ...

Select "My Profile"
"Profile"
"Edit Profile"
enter password to confirm change is going to happen ...
"Options"
Choose a file to upload for your personalized picture.

Click on save changes.

I tried uploading the fallingsnow.gif and it works.

If it comes up as not secure, I think that means it is not encrypted, which makes it easier for hackers to see what you are posting.

It came up as not HTTPS the other day but is fine today. It is like the host dropped the secure path for a period of time and it uses HTTP. All good now.

The forum is encrypted (https) from what I can see.

I'm actually not too worried about it.

I have a very secure connection and I would have had alarm bells going off if there was a problem.

Below is some information on the security used on this site. A bit mumbo jumbo, but essentially it is secure.

I'm going to need a lot more than good luck to get that avatar up Nemo.  It's not as if I haven't done this heaps of times on other forums over the past 25 years I have been using that same avatar!

This site and my laptop don't seem to be in sync.

And I'm in the middle of packing to go away so will have to try again sometime after Christmas.

If you try to save the .gif into your downloads folder then go with the upload a file for your avatar using that file, does it work?

Mind you, when I tried doing that, it did not immediately appear in the profile, but after saving the setting and exiting the profile edit area, it then started to work.

Thanks Matte for taking this up for me.  Otherwise I wouldn't be here now.  Because none of my emails got through.  In the meantime you lose your momentum ... and then just can't be bothered.
