Michael Gambon achieved an incredible amount before he put his stamp on Harry Potter - I remember him best for "The Singing Detective" - a story about man suffering severe psoriatic arthropathy and in hospital where his nurse is played by Joanne Whalley, a very young Joanne Whalley.

Yes, I remember him from The Singing Detective too.

I took my daughter to see the first one, but haven't seen any of the others.

I did a Back to the Future marathon this past Monday public holiday - maybe I should attempt a Harry Potter marathon.

5 or 6 movies?

8 I think. In my opinion they went down hill a bit after the first 4 or 5 still ok. They got progressively darker and for an older audience.

The spin offs have been ok as well. Fantastic beasts etc.

I got the Harry Potter movies off the shelf a few weeks ago in preparation for watching the movies. I watched about 30 minutes of the first movie before I was distracted by other dvds that I had in my possession that I had yet to watch for the first time. And then there are the "Soprano" tv series dvds that I (as a guy in his 40s) have yet to watch.

It is October tomorrow. That is "Halloween" season. Horror movies to watch for the next month. From November to December will be the time to watch fantasy movies like "Harry Potter".
