Title: 3D printing
Post by Sir Eoin O Fada on Sep 21st, 2023 at 6:51pm
I couldn’t find anything on the subject in Search.
Yet 3D printers are commonly available and some very useful and reliable things , even machines can be made.
Anyone made anything?

My husband and eldest son share 2 different types of 3D printers and these are kept/used in the tool/storage area of the garage.

Both were bought from Jaycar.

I use mine to make 3D printers. Soon they will take over the world.

Ok .... I’ve just been informed as follows :

1. Anicubic Photon 2K resin printer

2. Anicubic Photon 4K resin printer (higher resolution in print)

Note : These resin printers are used by my hubby and son who make all sorts of things (mainly for war gaming and miniatures).

Also...the printing must take place in the shed with open doors because of the strong chemical smells which are emitted during the printing process.

Isn't it time to give this process a new, and accurate, name? It is not printing. Its nothing like printing. Its a form of extrusion.

It's a type of additive manufacturing.

It's called additive manufacturing.

Maching something from a chunk of metal is reduction manufacturing.

They still have a way to go with AM with material properties and cost it does produce less waste.
