I don't know what it is like in Adelaide during the summer. But, as Bobby has pointed out previously, Tasmanian summers can get cold. It is halfway through September, and I am still having warm showers. This Wednesday, Thursday, and Frida, the high temperatures are going to be between 33 and 36 degrees Celsius for top temperatures. But it will cool off to 15 and 17-degree minimums.

I could imagine Tasmania and Adelaide would have varying summer weather. But, Melbourne has considerably varying weather where even summer days get quite cold.

overlooking Melbourne.
We still get Antarctic winds here at 38 degrees South.
We're close to the roaring 40s whereas Monk is right inside that at 43 degrees South.
Hobart gets the circumpolar currents and winds -
a unique weather system on this planet where the winds and currents
go around and around the South pole 365 days of the year
owing to no land to stop it and the rotation of the Earth.

Hobart is sheltered by the Central Plateau to the west. Melbourne is not. Hobart appears to have a lot of westerly wind patterns. Melbourne seems to have a similar wind pattern to Hobart. Given the sheltered geography of Hobart (and other eastern towns of Tasmania) compared to Melbourne, it would suggest that Melbourne experiences more freezing temperatures than Hobart. And even the Bureau gives the data that Hobart is only an average of 1°C lower than Melbourne.

What does it matter to me, though? You are 15 degrees south of where I live. Our winters here still get quite cold and we might have minimum temperatures 5 degrees above what Melbourne and Hobart get.

It does get cold in Melbourne and
yes Southerlies are bad but it's not quite as bad as Geelong for wind.
Of course being inland we do get quite a few heavy frosts every Winter.
