ABC lauds itself on being non biased but few know how that's actually measured.

They audit the amount of air time and coverage given to each party roughly as a percentage of their vote. When a Govt minister gets an interview, the shadow minister is invited on to comment.

What is not measurable is the tone they take with journalists, the subtle and often NOT subtle spin they put on an issue and of course what they choose to cover.

As has been noted previously, a referendum is not about winning or losing but about seeing if a change to the Constitution is desired by the majority of the people.  However in this 'Voice' referendum the government and most of the media is insinuating that those who vote against this change are racists, and it seems that the AEC is trying to stack the deck as well, with its ticks and crosses statement.

Even more pertinent is how long is this legislative string:

Voice may make representations to the Parliament and the Executive Government of the Commonwealth on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples



Anyone can make such representations now. You can do it through your parliamentarian or directly by making a submission to parliament, writing to a department or statutory body.


The Parliament shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to make laws with respect to matters relating to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice, including its composition, functions, powers and procedures.

Parliament can do that already.


So what is new?

The existence of a Constitutionally enshrined Aboriginal body that is separate from the rest of the Australian body politic. That is the ONLY point of this referendum. From that separateness enshrined in the constitution flows treaty and PERMANENT  separation of Aborigines from the Commonwealth.

The ABC thinks so much about outside the east coast, Ita actually came to WA once in four years.  ::)

To issue fact-checking verdicts, RMIT FactLab must hold a valid IFCN certification as part of its agreement with social media giant and Facebook owner Meta. Meta has suspended its partnership with RMIT FactLab because of the lapsed IFCN certification status and concerns of bias in relation to fact checks done on voice debate content.

Concerns about the RMIT unit are heightened by the social media posts of some its fact checkers that display a clear bias on political and social issues on which the fact-check unit is making public declarations. In one post, Liberal leader Peter Dutton was called a “fearmongering racist”. Lattouf has repeatedly refuted the legitimacy of the “gas the Jews” footage from Sydney’s Opera House and posted numerous video on her social media accounts including X, formerly Twitter, Instagram and TikTok about this. She has also accused Israeli forces of committing rape.

It was reported on Friday she had lodged a Fair Work application claiming she was unlawfully terminated from her employment.

In the video obtained by The Australian, its message calls out the ABC’s actions as “censorship” and that it’s “an affront to the very idea of journalistic integrity”.


“Direct action was taken against the ABC Radio office in Boorloo/Perth to protest [the] unjust firing of Antoinette Lattouf over her factual reporting of the Israeli genocide against the people of Palestine.”

“This act of censorship by the ABC management is an affront to the very idea of journalistic integrity. While the ABC cower in the face of external pressure, 100 journalists have been killed while reporting on the genocide being committed by the state of Israel.”

In the video, an individual covered in a white scarf covers over the ABC Radio logo and proceeds to graffiti the words ‘Boycott’, ‘Justice for Antoinette’ and ‘Free Palestine’.

The Australian reached out to WA police, who told the publication that no one has reported the incident yet.
