Title: Electricity bills going up thanks to AnAl
Post by Baronvonrort on Jul 16th, 2023 at 5:04pm
My electricity bill has gone up AnAl told us they would be cheaper when sucking up for votes before last election.

Quote:
Why are my electricity bills increasing

There has been an overall increase in the cost of supplying electricity to our customers over the past year, largely due to the rising costs of wholesale electricity

We closed down coal fired electricity to rely on renewable rubbish which resulted in bills going up.

How can this happen if renewables are cheaper?

Promise check: Cut power bills for households by $275 a year by 2025 compared to before the election

A key plank of Labor's election platform was its "Powering Australia" plan, which it said would create jobs, reduce emissions and drive down the cost of electricity by upgrading infrastructure and boosting renewable energy production.

"Independent modelling shows Powering Australia …will bring down household power bills by $275 in 2025…" the document says.

The independent modelling was undertaken by energy analyst firm RepuTex.

Releasing the plan and the modelling at a December 3, 2021 press conference, Labor leader Anthony Albanese said it would see "electricity prices fall from the current level by $275 for household[s] by 2025, at the end of our first term, if we are successful".

However, Labor's promise to reduce average household energy bills by $275 continued to be repeated until at least May 18, when Mr Albanese said increasing renewable energy was "the best way to cut power bills for families and businesses — saving families $275 a year".

The ABC fact checker has stalled.

I got a bill shock with my Telstra phone plan. It’s crept up to $62 a month!
Too much for little ole moiye!
I only use up to 5gb data per month.
So I took myself to the Telstra shop and changed it all to pre paid $35 month with 15 gb data!
I also made it so it’s direct debit because I can’t be hassled every month to manually recharge coz I could forget then I’m stuffed without being able to make calls if I am late to pay.

They should build a nuclear power plant in CQ to service much of Qld. This friggin' coal powered thing is getting old. And if we have a cleaner more efficient form of electricity production, it would be all the better.

I put my last electricity price hike to the fact that I used two heaters during the coldest time of the month last month.

We're paying the price off a decade of deliberate stifling of the renewable energy market by the pro coal mob.

Got an email from the Electricity company on July 12th 2023.

From August 1st  2023 my electricity is going up in price:

+18% for ordinary electricity, +31% for hot water and +13% for service supply.

So much for renewables saving us money?
They destroyed Hazelwood power station in Victoria
but had nothing to replace it.

So called 'renewables' are being given $25 billion in subsidies between now and 2030. For the same amount at least one, possibly two nuclear power plants could be built. To keep pursuing the renewables fantasy is only going to enrich those getting the subsidies, it will not provide cheap or reliable power.

Nuclear energy 👈 considered a very dangerous option

Spent fuel rods 👈 where do they go?

Highly radioactive waste disposal methods are the issue.

Where do you dump these spent fuel rods? It can’t be near water or a fault zone or else radioactive waste could spread.

This addresses a lot of pain points which affect nuclear reactors AND the idea has been around since the 1950’s.

Why hasn’t this technology been pursued?

Spent fuel is stored safely and around 96% can be recycled. Have look at this: https://www.tiktok.com/@theradguyglows/video/6969767169542425861

Nuclear energy is safe. Nobody is asking for old Russian technology here.

Uranium is radioactive when you dig it up it can go back in the ground. We have plenty of dry parts in this country.

The fault lines near us go through NZ up to Asia in what they call the ring of fire which is why we have very few earthquakes.

We had around 83 nuclear bombs detonated in Australia the British did  testing here.

Solar doesn't work at night solar is not an option. If you want to factor in battery storage then costs skyrocket batteries are very expensive Lithium only last 2500-3000 cycles before being replaced it doesn't matter if it's a phone laptop or Tesla battery.

Yes we have good wind in coastal areas the sea breeze dies when sun goes down so wind isn't reliable for 24 hour power.

Hydro is a great source cheapest of renewable yet not going to happen due to Green lunatics.

People go to work during the day what is going to generate electricity to charge electric cars at night?

Which one? There are 4 coal powered power stations in Central QLD.

Stanwell(1993) is both coal fired & gas. It's not the oldest.

Gladstone is 17 years older(1976) & still our biggest capacity power station .... the only thing is it's now privately owned/run.

Callide A was older - 1965 to 2015(decommissioned).

Callide B - 1988.

Callide C - 2001.

You have more power stations within a bulls roar of you than anyone else in the country.

Plus the whole of the massive central qld coal fields/mines to fuel them.

If anything we should be building a new modern coal fired power station.

Bullshyte - it's all the coal mob(energy companies) that are investing in the renewable industry....

because it's money for jam

they're making a fortune setting us up for a dark future of unreliable power supply.

Ten years ago, I would have said that we should keep the coal fired power stations going, given that I have family members involved in coal mining. But, since they have retired, I have no real interest in being bothered with coal fired power stations.

As far as I am concerned, we can keep on using coal fired power stations until the coal runs out. But, as for electricity prices, the uptake of solar panels on houses in town here should mean that the pressure on the electricity grid should be mitigated. Elevated electricity invoices are just a money-making scam. There is no real cost increase in producing electricity from the companies.

Gnads is unfortunately correct. 😔😩🥺

It’s kinda like this :

WE (the consumer) are playing a game of chess against THEM (those who control the energy resource industry and it’s NOT our government).

The chess board and pieces are owned by THEM and so WE can play the game knowing that THEY can pick up the board and pieces and walk away whenever they want to. WE are at a total disadvantage.

What about keeping the buggerin lights on at night & running your refrigerator to keep your piss cold?

We have shyteloads of coal .... we'll still have shyteloads long after you're gone.

You've got a shyte attitude .... all about you ... all of the time.

The only point you have is that there is no good reason for increasing the costs of coal fired electricity.

It's all the other sources i.e. renewables that come into the market as a whole that drive up prices.

Of course it is all about me. I don't want to spend more than $50 a month on electricity. But, I have to spend more than twice that amount so that some electrical company CEO can pay off his boat payments.

Costs of producing electricity should be coming down, not going up. The price hikes are just a money making scam.

Climate change is the vehicle the elite are using to usher in communism & poverty for the masses.

If its gone up its because of that dreaded vehicle called climate change.

Ouch!

We've just got a letter from our electricity supplier,
AGL in eastern Victoria, notifying us of an estimated
price increase over the next 12 months of $853.

This is claimed to be an unavoidable result of the
increased "wholesale" price of electricity.

I wondered what the term wholesale price actually
meant, and found an explanation HERE.

Nonsensically of course, the site does NOT explain
what the wholesale price really is in layman's terms.

It's all that cheap renewable solar and wind. Just ask Chris Bowel.
