Help… Is it normal for my toddler to play up and regress during my pregnancy?

"He has started throwing way more tantrums, stomping his feet at me, whining way more, hitting me when he gets angry."

No. The toddler will grow up without any considerable memory of what happened. The father might hold more accountability for himself than we know reported. I cannot imagine a happy life for either of them in the next 5 years.

How many two-year-olds pick up toy guns, point them at their parents and pull the trigger saying "bang" or whatever? As far as I know, the child might well have been playing cowboy and accidentally fired a loaded pistol. To think that it was deliberate homicide would speak volumes of your overestimation of a toddler's intent on killing their own mother. It was unintentional, and therefore accidental.

Some interesting responses in here.

I personally feel the laws in the US wrt guns need to be addressed.

Can such laws be addressed? Well I’ve been told by many posters here (who know about the gun culture in the US way more than I do) that it’s either NOT going to happen OR some pretty much useless attempt at change is all we should expect.

Essentially the problem in overhauling gun laws is just too complex, too tricky, involves too much treading on toes, (insert further reasons/excuses here) and will involve uprooting a longstanding cultural tradition which will also disrupt the economy (dear God this is starting to sound like the excuse the Sth gave about slavery but I digress).

Bottom line? Systemically nothing will change.

Which brings me to my question 👉 Where to from here?

In fact 👆 that question is behind why I started this topic.

I didn't say anything about it being a deliberate homicide.

They  bring in gun laws all the time the problem is when these laws are challenged in Supreme court they get thrown out for violating 2nd amendment.

Leaving loaded guns around kids isn't wise some states have laws on this.

Biometric gun safes are available so your fingerprint unlocks it which is a good solution.

I read somewhere that if you have a gun in the house -

19 times out of 20 -

it is more likely to be used to shoot you or another family member
than it is to defend the house from an intruder.

Anyone remember the toddler who pulled a gun out of her mothers bag in the supermarket and blew her away. She really wanted the lollies.

What possible alternative can be made, if the incident was not an accident?
