Global warming: Australia recorded its coldest May in decades

Sydney reached the coldest temperatures in 53 years,
while other areas had not experienced such temperatures in this month since 1907.

Australia has experienced a "May masquerading as winter." This is how ABC meteorologist Tom Saunders summed up what has been happening in the country over the past month. Temperatures were between 9 and and 18 ºF below average, with Sydney recording the coldest May in 53 years, and other locations reporting data not seen since 1907 or even ever.


One-hundred stations record the coldest temperatures in history

The figures are particularly striking because, in recent years, May has been characterized in Australia precisely by its high temperatures. However, in 2023 up to 100 weather stations reported the coldest weather on record in this month.

At one stage we had no sunspots for a long time.
David was correct as we also had record low temperatures.

You are asking me to apologise for the weather. Of course I won’t do that.

The cold weather in Australia right now is caused by some weather event. Find out what weather systems caused it.

Dubyne was wrong, totally wrong about the sun being/going into a GSM. He should apologise to his deluded followers and reimburse all donations.

Most of the world is warm right now. Ocean temperatures are off the charts hot! Sea around the UK is 4°C warmer than the previous record! Parts of Australia are cold but that is just weather.


Dubyne was wrong about everything.

The no sunspots for a while was Cycle 24 ending and Cycle 25 taking off. completely normal.

More than that, insolation now is very nearly at the level it was at in Solar Cycle 23.

DuByne said the sun was going into a Grand Solar Minimum.

Clearly, it is not.

DuByne was wrong. He needs to apologise and refund all donations.

I pointed out all along the sun was not going into a GSM and that the cold DuByne talked about was all local cold.

DuByne was wrong. You can tell he was wrong because he no longer talks about the GSM he wrongly predicted.

And of course SST's, according to Phil Jones CRU, were mostly made up for the Southern Hemisphere. ;)

Actually Phil said that about the Southern Ocean. Not a lot of variation there I fancy. Did he say that about the seas around Britain? Because they are 4°C higher than the previous high record.

But keep pretending to yourself that temperatures are not starting to reach dangerously high levels. I mean, acknowledging that would mean acknowledging C H A N G E ! eh lee?

Not true.

"    The issue Ray alludes to is that in addition to the issue
    of many more drifters providing measurements over the last
    5-10 years, the measurements are coming in from places where
    we didn't have much ship data in the past. For much of the SH between 40 and 60S the normals are mostly made up as there is     very little ship data there. [Phil Jones]"

And of course not much variation explodes the meme of dangerous Antarctic Warming.  ;)

yes - winter started on the 1st of May instead of the 1st of June -
and actually - technically speaking winter should start on
the shortest day which is tomorrow the 22nd June -
- the winter solstice.

It's never been so cold.
The way Monk talks every day you'd think we'd all be nice and warm
with all that global warming he carries on about.
