Title: Covid-19 vax mandates dropping like hot cakes!
Post by Sophia on Jun 17th, 2023 at 10:02am
Just in case many didn’t know…..A few countries have recently dropped the required mandate to be c-vaxxed for entry.
Bali, France, Thailand, USA, New Zealand to name a few.
Won’t be long before the rest follow suite.

All that effort, lockdown, masks, distancing, sanitising, restrictions in so many ways…. all for what?
Hopefully Covid will just become milder. Because it sure as hell didn’t go away despite all above names restrictions.

I'm sure world senior medicos never believed that restrictions were going to disappear the virus.

Their strategy would have been in aid of buying time until a 'miracle cure' was developed.

Given it's more probable than not that covid was developed in and leaked from a lab, in 2020 there was the possibility that a vaccine had been developed to counter the spread.

My requirement for my practical requires me to be triple vaccinated. I do not see the reason why migrants and visitors should not be up to standard in being healthy before arriving in Australia.

Come on, Sophia.

You can do it.

Just say the word...... COVID.

Oh, well... at least you didn't say  'more-vaxxed'.

Might have to change the name from Covid to Voldemort.

"The-Illness-That-Must-Not-Be-Named"

But 'Voldemort-vaxxed' or 'v-vaxxed' doesn't quite sound right to me.

Mind you, I have to agree with Hamish here:

Sure seems like that lately.

It’s definitely not a winter flu as I got it early January last year.
But these other winter flu surges are most likely just the regular flu and not Covid hence why it may not be mentioned. And there are quite a few folk I know with sniffles, cold, flu but “rat” shows negative.

Two members in here have/had colds/flu (aka Lisa and Bobby) and have done “rat” to show it’s not Covid.
But Xavier did test positive for Covid.

So when one has flu like symptoms… it might be Covid or it might not.
Probably best to say it’s not Covid (as in saying nothing at all)  until tests confirm it otherwise.

Then…there is that … hypocrisy…. Some work areas want triple jabbed workers yet most of the world is opening up and leaving the mandates to die a natural death.

It’s crazy and how can they enforce mandates when it’s supposed to be voluntary?

And what they would know …. is that any virus will spread when elderly people are locked up together and not allowed outside. Was the worst thing to do… no matter what the stupid name of any virus is.
Family members wanted to take their elder out of those age care and keep them safer at home. But not allowed! Not even allowed to visit. Look at how many died in that locked in environment  >:(

Whether or not one is triple vaccinated a Covid infection can happen. A vaccinated person can still spread Covid.

In fact, vaccinated people might be less risk averse because they believe they are protected and therefore be less strict in following preventive measures and therefore increase their risk of infection.

"We found at the time that studies showed a vaccinated person was less likely to spread the virus, but the risk wasn’t zero. We rated Biden’s statement Half True. That was before the omicron variant was named a variant of concern by the World Health Organization."

The New York Governor Andrew Cuomo sent covid patients from hospital into nursing homes. Cuomo was a God like cult figure to those with TDS.

The Great Barrington Declaration epidemiologists were 100% right in saying we need to protect the elderly from covid.

The worst thing to do was force people to stay inside. Being outside in the sun and was was the safest place. UV kills covid wind disperses it.

With the way most Governments mismanaged covid we're lucky it wasn't super deadly.

The first 3 cases all worked on coronaviruses at Wuhan lab.

I believe that was accidental there are some who say Omicron was deliberate release because it's 90% less deadly to achieve herd immunity due to failure of vaccine.I am still on the fence with Omicron being deliberate release.

It is strange recently that.....

I notice that the media are now printing some multi-decade old acronyms as proper nouns, led I believe by
people texting on devices that only capitalise the initial letter.

Csiro, Anzac, Nasa, Qantas, etc.

I call this laziness.      >:(

The 'plan' was that once the majority of the population were vaccinated we needed to open up even if some people may die "but it will be way smaller than with the flu". Which it wasn't (and still isn't), of course.

Current estimates are that Covid is up to 50 times more deadly than the flu.

We had to open up because Virgin, Qantas and Flight Centre, etc. were losing too much money and big business and our governments had decided Covid had 'gone on for long enough' and it was time for people to die for the economy.

A "vaccines only and let it rip" approach which was doomed to failure after the Delta and Omicron (with it's 1,000+ and counting sub variants) Covid variants appeared... and our governments couldn't say they didn't know this would happen because they saw the same thing happen in the US, the UK and other places around the world.

This is also why there is complete silence from the pollies regarding Covid and the horrific death toll so far - if they acknowleged the deaths and offered condolences to the families it would be an admission that they have failed in their approach to (not) dealing with Covid and they would then be required to do something about it.

But, the longer they pretend that Covid doesn't exist anymore or it's no longer "exceptional" and can be treated "just like any other respiratory illness" the worse things are going to be for them once the majority of the population wake up to the fact they've been 'played' and their health (and lives for many) have been sacrificed for the economy.

And I still say that's the main reason why the "rats" are gradually deserting the sinking (Covid) ship - Jacinda Ardern, Mark McGowan, Brett Sutton and the latest rumour is that Dan Andrews might be next to retire from politics due to "tiredness".

They know what's coming and they're getting out while they still can.

Not that it will save them in the (hopefully) not too distant future when they're all held to account - that includes the Prime Minister (present and previous) and all State Premiers plus their Health Officers and Ministers for the Covid deaths and Long Covid injuries, etc.

I look forward to that day.

Laziness and ignorance.

Many young people (including journalists) wouldn't be aware that ANZAC or indeed QANTAS are acronyms.

Sadly, many of them wouldn't even know what an acronym is.

And the even younger ones are worse: there are kids now who think that "Lol" is a real word.

If you ask them what it stands for, they give you a blank stare - they have no idea that it's an acronym for "laugh out loud".

Actually, speaking of Covid vaccines.

Next time I go to our local chemist I'm going to ask if my elderly aunt and I will be able to get another one in August.

Our last one (5th) was on February 21st - we both had them done on the same day - and the government "Top Up Your Protection" (with a COVID-19 booster) ads on TV say that you're eligible for a booster if it's been 6 months since your last COVID-19 vaccination or infection.

So, if we both remain Covid free up until August 21st then we should be able to get our 6th. I haven't seen anything that says you can't have any more than 5 Covid vaccinations at this stage.

Might see if we can get the Novavax this time if we're eligible, that's supposed to be the best one available at the moment for all the currently circulating variants.

It’s interesting about changes to our English dictionary also.
I still habitually say “Kentucky Fried Chicken” but it’s KFC.
Since the advent of going online, computer jargon has been added to the dictionary.
And most of us… regardless of age, would know quite a few of them by now being in the WWW.

Out of interest….I looked up new added words and banished words from dictionary or English language.

New words ….

deepfake, antigram, and groomzilla.
And…

7 New Words Added to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary in...
* ICYMI.
* MacGyver.
* Cringe.
* Adorkable.
* Janky.
* Sus.
* Yeet.

And….

What word was removed from the dictionary 2023?

2023 Banished Words List
* GOAT. The acronym for Greatest of All Time gets the goat of petitioners and judges for overuse, misuse, and uselessness. ...
* Inflection point. ...
* Quiet quitting. ...
* Gaslighting. ...
* Moving forward. ...
* Amazing. ...
* Does that make sense
* Irregardless
* Absolutely
* It is what it is

I’m glad that last one was removed!
But mainly these were removed for annoying overuse.

There's no limit on how many you can have, just as long as it's been six months since your last one.

They are just like flu vaccinations now, except you get them every six months rather than every 12 months.

As others have pointed out, you are more likely to get sick from other patients in a medical setting than other places. If I am going to work around sick patients, I don't want to catch their illness, or to pass on an illness that I barely have symptoms.

Going to restaurants and the cinema, I have had to be at least double vaccinated to enter the buildings. I do feel like we have a real Nanny state situation. The elderly and the immune-compromised should have had to adjust their lives. Not the young and healthy.

When I first heard the name "Covid-19", I had the impression that it stood for "coronavirus December 2019" -- given the general discovery was in December 2019. But, someone corrected me straight away.

What word was removed from the dictionary 2023?

2023 Banished Words List
* GOAT. The acronym for Greatest of All Time gets the goat of petitioners and judges for overuse, misuse, and uselessness. ...
* Inflection point. ...
* Quiet quitting. ...
* Gaslighting. ...
* Moving forward. ...
* Amazing. ...
* Does that make sense
* Irregardless
* Absolutely
* It is what it is

I’m glad that last one was removed!
But mainly these were removed for annoying overuse.

"Moving forward", Grrrrrr  >:(

Whenever I hear someone use that term, I switch off.

Oh absolutely! Isn’t it amazing how, irregardless of overuse….the GOAT words/expressions/cliches are an inflection point for needing banishment … does that make sense? I guess it is what it is, and all part of moving forward  :P ;D

Then…there is that … hypocrisy…. Some work areas want triple jabbed workers yet most of the world is opening up and leaving the mandates to die a natural death.

It’s crazy and how can they enforce mandates when it’s supposed to be voluntary?

As others have pointed out, you are more likely to get sick from other patients in a medical setting than other places. If I am going to work around sick patients, I don't want to catch their illness, or to pass on an illness that I barely have symptoms.

Going to restaurants and the cinema, I have had to be at least double vaccinated to enter the buildings. I do feel like we have a real Nanny state situation. The elderly and the immune-compromised should have had to adjust their lives. Not the young and healthy.

Oh hang on a tic…. Wasn’t there a bit of uproar/protesting regarding how unnecessary it was to corina vax the youth and kiddies? Due to them having a young healthy immune system already?
Don’t go blaming the elder folk… go talk to the powers that be and ask.

People under the age of 16 were not required to get vaccinated for coronavirus. People like me, in my 40s and diabetic, are at risk from complications of coronavirus. The elderly are at an increased risk of complications if they catch coronavirus. It is they who need to stay home and avoid catching that virus. The rest of us should have been allowed to go about our lives as normal. Even if the adjustments we make were to socially distance ourselves and do all the elevated hygiene practices in public.

All that effort, lockdown, masks, distancing, sanitising, restrictions in so many ways…. all for what?
Hopefully Covid will just become milder. Because it sure as hell didn’t go away despite all above names restrictions.

50 x more deadly then the flu?

i'm calling BS on that figure

Yeah, I might have to agree with you for once.

OK, let's do the math, shall we?

https://twitter.com/LettersfromTim/status/1669932438846578688

Quote:
National notification data (NNDSS):
In the year-to-date, of the 85,986 notifications of laboratory-confirmed influenza, there have been 78 influenza-associated deaths notified to the NNDSS.

Versus

4,159 COVID deaths since 1 Jan

78 (Flu deaths) multiplied by 50 equals 3,900 (Covid deaths).

78 (Flu deaths) multipled by 53 equals 4,134 (Covid deaths).

78 (Flu deaths) multiplied by 54 equals 4,212 (Covid deaths).

So, Covid is closer to between 53 and 54 times more deadly than the flu, not 50.

Thanks for pointing that out.

At-risk populations:
• In the year-to-date, notification rates have been highest in people aged 05–09 years,
followed by those aged 0–04 years and 10–14 years.

influenza targets our most precious population as can be seen.

a baby dying of influenza equates to 80 yrs of valuable life lost and devestated parents.

an 80 yo ( the averge age of someone dying WITH covid) equates to someone finding peace thanks to "the old mans best friend"  and maybe a year or two of lost life (and a blessing in many cases).

doesnt pass the pub test.

the community are way way way more concerned with sick children then old codgers

go down the pub and ask (wear a mask though  ::) ::) ::))

you can get the latest footy score on the eagles whilst you are there and engage with some "real" australians

Back from the pub so soon?

Looks like you ordered (another) word salad with your beer.  [smiley=beer.gif]

And please stop your obsession with the Eagles. You're just embarrassing yourself but at least I'm getting a good laugh.

I don't bother following the footy but I do know that this year the West Coast Eagles are more hopeless than your hero John "Mr. Science with the permanently constipated look on his face" Gerrard even though I never believed it was possible.

There's no limit on how many you can have, just as long as it's been six months since your last one.

They are just like flu vaccinations now, except you get them every six months rather than every 12 months.

Thanks Greg.

I wonder if I should ask Sir Nail for his thoughts about getting another Covid vaccination?  :-/

Oh, for Sir Nail... we're talking about this in case you're not sure.

There's no way gaslighting should be removed seeing as it's been in use every day for over a year and a half now by our governments with their BSing (almost) everyone into believing Covid is no longer "exceptional" and should be treated "like any other respiratory illness".

And then proceeding to almost completely ignore it (along with it's ongoing hospitalisations, deaths and long Covid).

I suppose you could consider that "annoying overuse" though.

If it has been removed then I have to say it's a remarkable achievement seeing as Covid is currently 53.32 times more deadly than the flu.

I'd have to disagree with these two claims.  All
lives are "precious" to the families and friends of
people who succumb to influenza.  It's wrong to

And I'm sure than any parents of a 20- or 30-year
old child would be just as devastated as the parents

you are , of course, correct

losing a 20 or 30 yr old is just as devestating as losing a child.

as for fear of dying,  i'm not the one masking up and having 5 vaccines.

firstly, i'm still fit enough that i couldnt care 2 hoots about some respiratory virus .

secondly,  if my health was that bad that a chest infection killed me, i would welcome it.

whats the alternative??   slow rotting decay ?

not for me my friend.

and i ahve 6 grandkids so i am not some spring chicken.

i just understand how nature works and meditate on death..you should try it
