Can this spell the death of LNT (linear No Threshold)?

The Australian public (and those in other countries) who are
typically non-engineer-scientist qualified have been made
illogically fearful about transitioning from coal-fired power
generation to nuclear power generation.  In many cases this
stems from sensationalist media misrepresentation which
overstates the alleged risks in order to print 50pt headlines.

Nuclear power plants operate in 32 countries and currently
[ouch] generate 10% of the world's electricity, with France
being the highest at 69% nuclear power generation.

People's unrealistic fear of nuclear energy stems, I think, from
the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.   But we need to remember that
Chernobyl was constructed using engineering technology dating
to 1948 when large-scale nuclear energy use was in its infancy.

We also have part of the nuclear power plants in place in
Australia—coal-fired generators use steam turbines as their
motive force, and guess what?  Nuclear fuel produces cheap,
recyclable steam.     Bingo.
