Title: RIP Tina Turner
Post by greggerypeccary on May 25th, 2023 at 5:08am

Singer Tina Turner has died aged 83

Singer Tina Turner has died aged 83, one of her representatives has said.

Turner, often called the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll", was one of the biggest recording artists of all time, known for hits such as What's Love Got to Do with It, and (Simply) The Best.

She died peacefully after a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland, her representative said.

The American-born singer left a hard scrabble farming community and abusive relationship to become one of the top recording artists of all time.

Turner began her career in the 1950s during the early years of rock and roll and evolved into an MTV phenomenon.

Never liked her music, but she seemed like a very nice person.

I didn't realise she was 83.

Her ex-husband - Ike - was an arsehole.

RIP Anna Mae Bullock.

Her songs were a bit screechy and screamy -
except for the one I posted above.
The songs were also too busy -
too many other singers and instruments all at the same time -
it's case of less would have been more.

But not the '80s/'90s stuff.

You are being Racist, just because Ike was black. Say that about one of our indigenous problem children and see how far you get.

Nothing to do with his skin colour.

He used to beat women.  He was an arsehole, and the world is a better place without him.

RIP Tina   :'(

"Ike discovered her as a teenager, rechristened her Tina, and micromanaged every aspect of her career with the Ike & Tina duo—even withholding her finances.

" ... he beat her with a shoe stretcher while she was pregnant and burned her with scalding coffee."

The 1993 movie "What's love got to do with it?" is an excellent biopic to watch.

She was a great female entertainer for American music.
So many black women were abused by their black partners and if they spoke out, they were made to feel like they were betraying their 'race' as a whole. That's how rotten their men were in the industry.
She was highly entertaining in her stage performances and was never a prima donna in her ego, if she had one.
Great songs and Night Bush City Limits still gets played in Clubs everywhere for that amazing unique dance that even younger generations jump into to do.
She was still performing in her latter years and doing well.

Rare is it that you can admire both the Entertainer and their music.

Eternity

I have found the movie on my usual streaming service. Although, it is an illegal streaming service I use. So, I cannot link it here, in case it gets flagged by authorities.
