Title: Storing food
Post by Sprintcyclist on Feb 4th, 2023 at 9:01pm
I was getting peeved with berries that lasted less than a week in the fridge before they worsened.

Realising I was in a no-lose situation I put some berries in an airtight container in the fridge. Oxygen can age goods badly.
The berries lasted perfectly well.

Mushrooms, silverbeet, grapes, everything I have put in a sealed container in the fridge has lasted perfectly well for much longer then usual.

I use sealed containers, or double zip-lock plastic bags.

Seems to work for everything except tomatoes.

I never  have this problem.

2 days ago I bought 2 punnets of blueberries, 1 each of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries.

The locusts (and me) in my house has nearly finished them.

Just so. Your Superior Man might have invented the fridge, but he needed his Mrs and her Tupperware to put it to good use.

Behind every good man is a filly, no?

James Harrison invented the fridge to keep beer cold.

This superior man was Australian.  :)

Miam miam.

Mmmm. I've been feasting on wild blackberries quite a lot in the last few weeks. If they come off with hardly any resistance - they're perfectly ripe and delicious. The crimson fingers are worth it.

We use a vacuum sealer.  Soft foods such as berries can
be an issue though, so the sealer needs a "pulse" mode
for the vacuum pump in order to avoid crushing soft stuff.

This is our unit...

And don't buy an el cheapo... their vacuum pumps suck.   Uh....?

       ;D

Nope. 20 plus years of cyber multi trolling across so many forums and with so many ids has taken a toll on the poor Groggy boomer.

Here it is again for those who missed it :

I don't know which is more pathetic?
Peccary or Peccary? :-?
You could almost see him peeping through unhinged doors getting his jollies doing this.  ::)
What does he achieve doing this? Besides making an absolute fool of himself and disliked, distrusted, etc by other members more so.

Boredom and chronic unemployment go hand in hand with the likes of Groggy/Geoff/Bwian/Emucorp etc <--- there's that many they're impossible to list.

I've learned to make fun of it now. And not stress as much. Why? Well it's not my website...it belongs to Freediver. He pays the invoices for OzPol...not me.

And Freediver (for whatever reason) was prepared to lose Muso over the shared/non shared multi troll id issue on OzPol. Muso was a dedicated and decent GMod who worked diligently to keep this site clean. And he will remain the best GMod Ozpol has ever had.  No other GMod comes close to Muso IMO.

I miss that guy's online positive presence. This forum has never been the same since his departure.

Anyway....how many ids have YOU had Xav? You've had a few but you're always upfront about them.

Yes. I remember Muso's brief comeback and still dissapointment at how Ozpol has become.

Maybe FD loves having Doxxers and Scammers like Monk around? Frauds, liars, schizoids like Peccary around? Dull, boring wannabe's like Smith around? Fail ex-lawyers and cabbies like Aussie around?
Maybe FD loves Gmods like Gandalf who are never around?

Muso was the only decent GMod this place ever had.

The coronavirus board has caused this board to slow and crash. Why are we only attracting idiots as members these days? Why have members like Phemenderac, Sad Kangaroo and The Barnacle left? Disappointment at not being backed up re antivaxx bullshit?

I bought kiwi fruit and kept them in plastic bags in the fridge. After months of doing this, I decided to buy a Tupperware container so that I could fit the 12 inside for freshness. The plastic was leaching into the kiwi fruit so much that I swear I was developing ovaries.

Tupperware is good.
I got invited to one of those parties, ordered heaps and have never looked back. Still have a lot of em.
