"Perth has been almost a whole year without a 40C day.
And, although the metro area is about to enter a low-intensity heatwave, there are still none on the horizon. If the city makes it to February 5 without reaching the milestone, it will mark an entire year since it was 40C. It’s a massive change from last year when in the same period the metro area endured 13 40C-plus days. “The temperatures this year are nothing out of the ordinary,” Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Jessica Lingard said. “This is what summer is supposed to feel like. It was last year that was the anomaly.” " https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/weather/perth-weather-metro-area-poised-to-go-whole-year-without-40c-day--c-9630273 Summers without a 40ºC day in Perth are the anomaly. ::) |

This last couple of years have been a bit inconvenient for the Climate Cultists, what with the cooler summers, the Great Barrier Reef regenerating, the BOM being investigated for falsifying its records....

Was supposed to have been 39 degrees in Perth today.
The Bureau of Meteorology have updated their forecast twice since the regular 4:40am one. The latest update was at 11:06am and they're now forecasting 37 degrees. http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/forecasts/perth.shtml With all of the cloud around this morning (which now seems to be slowly clearing) I didn't think it would even make it to 37. 32 degrees at the moment (12:12pm). |

It's a weird day - didn't think it would reach 39 when I got up at 4am. Very grey/cloudy and windy at 7am. Just went outside to pick some Rosemary for lunch, and it's getting warm now - 32.9 Will probably make 37 by 3pm. We usually get two to four 40 degree days at the end of February :'( |

And here we have the bluster of the Climate Cultists when the error of their ways is pointed out. Funny how a few hot days are a harbinger of doom, but a prolonged cold spell is just 'weather'. ::) |

I'm not a "Climate Cultist", whatever the hell that is. You've never ever seen a post from me promoting AGW or anything similar. As an outsider to this argument, I'm merely stating a simple fact: you're talking about weather, not climate. They aren't the same thing. Surely you know that. |
Title: Re: WA- Almost one year without a 40ºC day Post by Johnnie on Feb 4th, 2023 at 4:50pm
I'm glad it's global cooling and not global warming, i can't handle heat, Adelaide had it's coldest spring in 30yrs, southern SA has only had a couple of hot days with no 40's and with no extreme weather forcast for the next week that only leaves 2 weeks of summer left, it's pretty cool where i am in SA today and i had to put a short sleeve jumper on and that's a 1st here for this time of year, it's probably just a lull because the amount of crap we have put into the atmosphere over the last 250yrs can't be good. A couple of big volcanoes now and we will be extinct.

I would have said the same about Rockhampton. But, I found a 40.7 degree day in March last year. A few 39 degree days as well. Still, I would call it a mild summer.

Don't think it made it to 35 degrees here in Perth today? I saw 31 mentioned somewhere earlier.
And... good news! The Bureau of Meteorology have issued their regular 4:20pm forcecast. http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/forecasts/perth.shtml Tomorrow was supposed to have been 30 degrees (which in itself would have been a welcome relief after Saturday's late maximum of 38 degrees) but now it's been revised to 27 and 29 for Tuesday. Excellent! The rest of next week isn't too bad as well at this stage. I hope it doesn't end up like last week when similar temperatures were forecast but we ended up with 35, 36 and 37 all week. |

Unless there's a change in the forecast during the next week it looks like Perth isn't going to 'officially' make it to 40 degrees this summer. Good.
http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/forecasts/perth.shtml Been close a few times and I'm sure there were a few parts of the metropolitan area that did reach 40 several times but not from where the Bureau of Meteorology measures the 'official' temperature. Last time this happened was the summer of 2017-18. |

Looking at the daily weather observation data from the Bureau of Meteorology, Rockhampton had its last 40 degree celsius day on the 3rd of March, last year (2022). So, it is coming up to a year without a 40°C day for us here, too. It has been a mild summer for us. I wish it would rain more, though.

Larry is from the wastelands of Western Sydney so, yeah, Larry lives in a dump.

Even the worst areas of Rockhampton are better than the best areas of Western Sydney.

Well RockBrain...you do know I live in Sydney (the most expensive city in Australia) yeah? Well where I live you yourself can easily live too! All you need is this: $2.5 million (properties are a tad 👇 you see that’s why it’s only $2.5 million) to grab a property here where I live. But be careful : you will be buying a knock down job on a small block. It will be about 20 minutes from the CBD and 2 minutes to the water. But you won’t be able to live in such a house. You will need to knock it down and start again. To build will set you back another $1.3 million MINIMUM because our homes are built on solid ROCK which means a lot of yellow Tonka Truck diggers plus inflation and global recession plus cost of fuel etc. So come on RockBrain ... why don’t you sell your Rockhampton bit of real estate and with $3.8 million you too could come and live nearby. Idiot! |

I certainly farkkking hope so! Let’s take a close look at Western Sydney. Well for starters it’s a rubbish dump. Sydney’s rubbish dump is there - quite literally. The westies who live there are residents who can’t afford to live in Sydney proper. Their cheap n quick shoddy and dodgy real estate is pretty much worthless and many are facing mortgage prison (not just mortgage stress). Some are currently sitting in negative equity positions and are facing bankruptcy. But it gets better! Some parts of Western Sydney are in fact SINKING! Literally SINKING because they were built cheaply and quickly on ex rubbish tips/poor soil. Entire streets of homes are suffering serious structural damage (as they’re built of cardboard plus cheap bricks it’s not too hard I guess) and families can’t get property insurance. Guess what these families CANNOT do? They can’t sell because their properties aren’t even worth the cheap land they’re built on NOR can any prospective speculator come in and rescue them (and their mortgagee) either! Why? Because no insurance company in Australia will insure the bloody property! So RockBrain you had better hope to God your dumbarse little bit of property there in Rockhampton IS better than Western Sydney! You really are a clueless and uneducated moron! |

My "dumbarse little bit of property"? Oh right. My 40 x 20 metre yard. With a 1960s era high-set house taking up the front third of the yard. Valued at $220,000. Good neighbourhood. Access to shopping centres within 2km.
Larry living in Sydney with its overpriced houses and natives inspiring shows like "Housos". I think Larry living where he lives makes him the "uneducated moron" of Ozpol. |

That’s right ...your dumbarse little bit of property that’s worth SFA! 220K? Was that a typo? In any event if you’re talking 220K then your property (not yours of course but your parents because of course I just remembered you’re pushing 50 and still living rent free/bludging off them) well if you had the legal right to sell that property and come away with 220K then that will definitely buy you a garage or a parking space here in Sydney. I’ve got no idea what it will buy you in Western Sydney...most probably a big muddy puddle that’s sinking I suppose. Edit : If living in a car space or a muddy puddle doesn’t appeal much to you ... you could always move to Tasmania with Dumbarse Drunk. The properties there are super cheap. Around 220K actually! You’ll have Dumbarse Drunk to get drunk with every day and plenty of penguins. For pets (not food) 😐 |

Larry doesn’t know what property in Western Sydney sells for because he rents his Housing Commission flat.

Anyway... with only one 'official' day left of summer it looks like Perth won't have made 40 degrees for the entire summer.
http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/forecasts/perth.shtml 37 is more than hot enough though for the next 3 days (after we had 36 today). |
Title: Re: WA- Almost one year without a 40ºC day Post by Jovial Monk on Feb 27th, 2023 at 11:48pm
31°C was hottest here. At night a lovely 12°C letting me sleep.
But with La Nina fading away and ENSO neutral condition taking over—be a hot Norther Hemisphere summer I reckon. |

No. The low-range estimate was $220,000. The high-range estimate was $370,000. Mid-range estimate is $295,000. The issue here being that we don't overvalue property outside of capital cities. And from what you have told me about your bogan Sydney area, you guys pay 5 to 10 times as much for property that is worse than mine. Quote:
Oh yeah. I am pushing 50... in about 6 years. And I live in my relative's house for cheap rent. But that is the beauty of it. I get all the modern conveniences in the world available in my town. The weather is good (apart from a lack of rainfall). I do not have to fork out expensive prices. And I do not have to play "spot the Aussie" when I go to get groceries. And as for selling up and moving to Sydney, I would not be that insane. That is your department, Larry. And I bet you know a lot about bludging off people. Your (ex)husband made a lot of money from being a lawyer. He got ill. You took off. And you seem to want to marry into money. For one thing, I would not want to move to a city where house prices are too excessive; the people not much more than meth-heads; and the heterophobes so numerous that you basically have to roll out the red carpet every time the bundle of sticks make an appearance. Some visitors have said that visiting Sydney is like walking into the cantina on Tattooine. No thank you. Quote:
I bet you selling your arse for coffee money would be one of the things people would not buy. But, that is being generous, given that coffee is pretty expensive these days. Quote:
I could imagine that Tasmania would be on par with Sydney in terms of their bogan tag. Geez, Larry, the way you want to promote buying poo homes for 5 times their actual worth, it makes me wonder if you actually have any money to your name. The average earnings in Sydney is about 50% more than people in Rockhampton. And that is taking into account the double unemployment rate we have here. And yet we have more people moving to Rockhampton from Sydney compared to the number of Rockhamptonites moving to anywhere in NSW. I am confident Rockhampton is the more livable region. |
