Well - I suppose there is opportunity for that.... but the armourer is directly responsible... who TF brings live ammo onto a film set?
Well - MAYBE in a single personal weapon never touched by anyone else in case there is an attempted robbery of the firearms or something... VERY remote.... and anyone with any sense would ensure that had zero compatibility with any weapon to be used on the set. FFS... simple rules make life easy to keep.... Once on a set I had to fire a shotgun ... pointed down a beach... another time I had to hold a pistol on two guys and found it difficult to actually point at them.... goes against the training you see.... |

I agree Mr. G… who the hell brings live ammo to a film/movie set?
Who was responsible for props and handing that loaded gun to Alec? |

After the incident, Alec the psychopath screached, not my fault not my fault.....then just about every action actor in Hollywood piped in and said, yeah, we take gun safety seriously and personally check every round in every firearm that's handed to us. Baldwin also LIED and said the gun spontaneously went off, a physical impossibility with a revolver. The armourer needs to go down, so does the trigger puller. |

Loaded guns… hmmmm…. Especially in America… One should think… a horse always kicks, and a gun is always loaded. Trouble is… in USA guns are so easily attainable, branded around, so used to its presence, no one takes it seriously… Therefore… I see it as Alec may go to jail…. he’s been made an example to take guns in hand as a fully personal responsibility and face the consequences. |

Actually, not really, no need. Millions of blank rounds get fired on movie sets all around the world every year and nobody dies. The producers (Baldwin was also an EP) penny pinched and got a cheap, inexperienced schit armorer. There were numerous other safety concerns on set and lastly, Baldwin is a Cword and didn't personally check the weapon himself. |

Title: Re: Alec Baldwin Post by philperth2010 on Jan 20th, 2023 at 10:48pm
Why would you ever point a gun at someone on a movie set....Despite the obvious neglect of safety protocals, Baldwin should accept responsability for his own actions....How could this happen???

The laws and rules need to be looked at. Apparently people were using the gun with live ammunition for target practice in breaks. A gun to be used as a move prop should be registered as such and it should be illegal to ever put a live round in that gun. Should be compulsory for 3 people to check any weapon taken onto a movie set every time it is used. Alex is responsible for an accidental shooting and would seem to libel to some degree of carelessness. However in the US it is ok to take a gun to a protest and shoot a few people, this is certainly not as bad as that one. |

Title: Re: Alec Baldwin Post by AusGeoff on Jan 21st, 2023 at 8:45am Baldwin is now claiming—absurdly—that he didn't pull the trigger of the gun he was holding, that somehow, magically it just went off. Which is nonsense of course, and simply shows that he's using any old excuse in an effort to avoid any blame and/or avoid any jail time. Pathetic. Anyway... If someone is handed any firearm, real or replica, the very first thing they MUST do is to check to see whether it's loaded or not. And if it is loaded, then they must immediately unload it to make it safe. This includes checking for a round already chambered. Baldwin failed to do this, and this is why he must be held accountable for killing Halyna Hutchins. At the very least, Baldwin could've dry fired the gun, pointing at the ground, as a simple precaution. Were I judging his case, I'd expect a charge of criminally negligent homicide—which is where death results from serious negligence, or serious recklessness. Baldwin was obviously negligent and reckless. A high degree of negligence is required to warrant criminal liability. A related concept is that of willful blindness, which is where a defendant intentionally puts themselves in a position where they will be unaware of facts which would render them liable for a death. The "involuntary" part of the charghe is inappropriate in Baldwin's case IMO. |

Title: Re: Alec Baldwin Post by Dnarever on Jan 21st, 2023 at 6:24pm
I suspect he will get off.
It looks like he is charged as an actor and as a producer. If a Jury is involved they are going for multiple choice like saying we don't know you work it out for us. Likely to not go down well. Also they are underplaying how the bullet got on the set, how it got in the gun and where it came from more of less saying it isn't relevant. I feel it is unlikely a judge or Jury will agree with that position. What if the defence were to raise the proposition that the bullet may have been introduced by some unknown person with malicious intent ? The fact remains that the prosecution do not know where the bullet came from or how it got into the gun or what the intent was. The argument could be made that the high profile person was the only person the prosecution had looked at from the start and there was no real attempt to look past their pre set view and to actually properly investigate the incident. I don't necessarily agree with this but it looks like the prosecution may have left their case somewhat open to doubt on a number of fronts. |

Nope. The ultimate responsibility remains with the person who points the gun at another human. That's Baldwin An actor does not get a free pass' Other actors – including "A-list" celebrities – consulted by prosecutors said they "always check their guns or have someone check it in front of them," Carmack-Altwies told CNN shortly after announcing her intention to file involuntary manslaughter charges. "Every person that handles a gun has a duty to make sure that if they're going to handle that gun, point it at someone and pull the trigger, that it is not going to fire a projectile and kill someone," she said. She added, "An actor does not get a free pass just because they are an actor". "That is what is so important. We are saying here in New Mexico, that everyone is equal under the law." |

There is nothing to say that an actor knows anything about guns. It is possible that he does not even know how to check a gun or how to know it is loaded or anything else. I don't see it as being as simple as that. The reality is that there is a person onthe payroll employed specifically to make sure the gun is safe. While I agree that there is a level of responsibility it isn't as black and white as you suggest. Quote:

He was too experienced to bother, in his egotistical opinion. His recklessness as well as his bullying caused death and injury that day. After all his last words to her when asked for one more take, "I should just fu__ing shoot you" and surprise he did. That is reckless and even if the firearm was loaded with a blank the wad could have caused injury to anyone in front of the muzzle. He intended to frighten and intimidate the woman he killed, he just never meant to really kill her which is negligence and should earn him a lengthy stay in Prison! But in todays double standard America there are "rules for thee but not for me"! I'm sure he will be made into a victim by the courts. |

There seems to be a number of people with varying levels of responsibility.
However it is not possible to understand the proper assignment of where who lies without a full understanding of where the shell came from and who is responsible for that part. It is likely a different person where the act if accidental could very from accidental to negligent but it could go further if the bullet was introduced with malicious intent. This would significantly change assignment of responsibility for everyone in the list. |

Irrelevant to the fact that there was a live round in the gun & it was chambered when it went off. At close range even blanks are dangerous because of flying brass fragments & wadding. He should not have pointed the gun at her. In movies the appearance that people are pointing guns at others is achieved by camera angle. Baldwin is 100% in the wrong & so is the armorer for her failing to see the live round on the set. |

There is a strong likelihood that Baldwin went into shock to the extent that he is not a reliable witness, His recollection may not agree with the facts purely on medical grounds. |

Oh FFS ... not the mental health card again. Always bought up as an excuse by leftoids when someone makes an error with fatal results for someone else. Poor Alec ey? No one can be held responsible for anything. ::) |

Shock isn't a mental health issue. Shock is a critical condition brought on by the sudden drop in blood flow through the body. Shock may result from trauma, heatstroke, blood loss, an allergic reaction, severe infection, poisoning, severe burns or other causes. When a person is in shock, his or her organs aren't getting enough blood or oxygen. Trauma is any sudden, terrible experience that disrupts your well-being and overwhelms you. A traumatic experience can shock your system, causing you to go into a state of dissociation, where your body and mind feel disconnected and nothing feels real Your brain resorts to this adaptive defense mechanism when it’s trying to cope with stressful or overwhelming events that it cannot prevent or escape. Shock essentially helps reduce your awareness of your physical or emotional pain by dulling your senses, making you numb, and reducing your conscious cognizance of the event. |

Pretty lame and polite humour. So much so, the crowd sounded like North Koreans in fear for their lives if they laughed too loud. Looked like some backwater TV show of no importance on the first clip.
