Demand for steel fortifications in Halls Creek is so high the outback Kimberley town's main supplier is rushed off his feet.

This is despite the multi-million dollar Kimberley police operation Regional Shield, which has had its effectiveness questioned by the WA Police Union last week.

"It's always kids. It's relentless... there's no repercussions or consequences," said Wesley Bambling, who has run a steel fabrication business in the town for five years.

Northern Territory Police say the presence of 40 additional frontline officers in Alice Springs, deployed last week after a spate of serious criminal incidents, is already showing positive results.

However, there are some concerns the response will not have a lasting impact on reducing crime and antisocial behaviour.

Northern Territory Police Superintendent James Gray-Spence said the additional measures, labelled Operation Drina, had been focused on "proactive policing" and "targeted enforcement".

"What we're seeing is an increase in incidence in police, but a decrease in demand-driven events and an increase in proactive events," he said.

"The biggest part of it is actually … arresting the people who have committed those crimes, putting them on restraint or taking them into custody, and then monitoring that so that they can't re-offend.

Because there is a steadily increasing supply of dirty disposable nappies and other crap lining the road that builds up towards the township

The northern parts of Australia had wonderful Aboriginal communities when they were looked after by the church missions and the graziers
The people were always smiling and enthusiastic and had a purpose in life

Just 3 hours ago I was talking with an ex-Cop (high ranking) who worked in country NSW about this sort of stuff. Even he agreed that BIG MUMMAS disciplined the kids better, because there was no 'emotional blackmail' involved with an Adult male whippen the kid. When Big Mumma got involved, the kids would indeed run and hide.
