Title: New washing machine
Post by Sprintcyclist on Aug 11th, 2022 at 4:21pm
Bought a LG washing machine, 8kg, $700.
It has a 10 year warranty on the motor ! Is an Inverter Direct Drive motor.
Is quieter, heavier, more stable and smoother than the old one.

The old one was still going ok, had a strange intermittent fault, was 8 years old so uneconomic to spend anything on it.
I heard all white goods are going up in price so thought to buy one now.

Inverter Direct Drive motor.

Really -
please try a radio noise test for me?

Place an AM radio on a weak station next to the washing machine when it's running.
Then try the radio 4 meters away.
Tell if that motor creates a lot of AM radio noise?

I do, only turn it on if I need an alarm early in the morning.

Should get a digital radio I guess.

I'm pretty sure you'd find one in a museum somewhere.

Anything worth listening to IS on AM - plus Classic FM. 2MBSFM at a stretch.

Remember the days of KB beer and guys will be sitting around in their King Gee shorts and navy blue wife-basher singlets smoking on rollies listening to AM with either the horse racing on or the talk-back jocks having a whinge.

Mellie Washing Machines are the best.
They have a steel, rather than cement block - which eventually crumbles.
I'm so glad I no longer have to move a Malley's fridge anymore.

My latest washing machine is a Bosch 10 kg front loader and it's a dream come true. There's still something about German technology which Asian brands can't match.

And yeah I started a topic about needing a new machine right here on OzPol too.  THAT topic yielded a lot of vital information based on people's experience with various brands which helped me make an informed decision. Thanks OzPoliticians 👌

I still can't figure out how to clean my $$ notes though?
I double the washing powder and they come out still looking the same.

Cheers. Not sure who the poster was who recommended that washing machine but oh boy it is being used twice a day every week day and 3 times a day on weekends. 16 full loads a week. And it's just awesome!

All the best with that LG model. IF you find ANY problems with it (and I hope you don't) could you let us know?

We bought an Australian-made Hoover 26 years ago, and it's never been serviced
and never missed a beat.   Will Chinese washers perform like this?   I bet not.
