Uh... it was a rhetorical question to point up other people's perceptions of
black lineage versus apparent white lineage. 

The majority—all people?—passing the pale aboriginal girl on the street would

You're both right. PC is all about manners yet there are those that feel that demand for manners in certain situations is hypersensitive, reductive even (to the brighter amongst them).

I was pretty young when the zeitgeist of PC hit so it was a bit of a no-brainer for me; refer to people how they would like to be referred to and try to avoid terms that cause offense.

Easy.

But i have empathy.

The thing is, to many people, asking them to "be" PC is very much putting the cart before the horse. And, let's face it, most of these people are Boomers.

They don't understand why their "jokes" aren't funny anymore; why their language usage is offensive. They honestly don't think it causes any harm. They have not chosen a path of empathy. They have not listened to the reasons why certain things are taboo ... they're just furious that they are.

So they resent. And resent it so hard do they that they've gone on to resent anything the "young" are trying to tell them. Things like climate change, in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence and mounting tangible evidence.

So, in short terms, they resent PC ... which i reiterate, just never was even the smallest of issues for me. Or for most of my generation or the generations following me. But i can see why people would be resentful of it.

And i pity them.

On the balance, I prefer to be politically correct rather than politically incorrect or rude. I treat everyone with respect unless they are trying to steal my car.

However, in general if you help someone who didn't ask for your help, you're going to end up making a fool of yourself.

A lot of Aborigines and other minority groups are mortified at the way some people carry on, making a fuss, supposedly on their behalf. These people only make things worse.

What the hell is Woke anyway?  I had to look it up the other day. Care factor zero.
