Title: Flu
Post by Gordon on May 24th, 2022 at 6:38pm
Everyone in the family has had one except me, I was supposed to get it today but I'm at home with a sick kid...probably flu!!!!!!! He was done on Saturday so no time for it to kick in.

The GP said it's hitting kids WAY WAY worse than covid.

NSW is giving out free flu shots.

I should have stocked up on lemon juice. A couple lemon juice and water per day would either prevent the onset or really help cure the influenza virus quite quickly.

But I had a temp of 38.2 C - that's quite high.
I also went through 300 tissues in one day -
I was so crook.

Flu Vaccination Side Effects

We understand Flu

Flu shots side effects (if any) tend to be mild, and if you develop flu-like symptoms, its effects are expected to be weaker than getting the "live" version of the virus. Some reactions to the flu vaccine may include:

General malaise, or feeling "under the weather."
        Nausea
        Muscle aches
Localised swelling, sore arm, itchiness or redness
        Feeling tired
        Headache
        Fever

Reactions to the flu shot should clear up by themselves within two to three days.

More likely than not, you coincidently got the flu or a cold, there's heaps of it going around.

Old people have lowered immune responses. Mum and Dad hardly got sick when myself and my siblings were growing up in that household. And when they did, they usually caught it from us children who were sick with some sort of cold twice a year. I got into adulthood and would only get sick on occasion. Now, Mum and (especially) Dad have to be careful about how they take care of themselves.

My mother is a (recently retired) nurse. She is very good with medicine. I would say that she keeps getting influenza vaccines every year. Dad is stubborn. It is difficult for Mum to get him to change his habits. I get the feeling that Dad has given up on life a few years after retiring from work.

Well, given that I am 43 years old and have only worked fulltime hours for about 6 months of my working life (25 years), I will have to keep working until I am 70 years old. But, given that I am at a healthier state of being than my father was at his 43 years of age, I should be okay to live until I am 80. After that, I do not care if I pass away after having a night of scotch drinking.

I’ve seen the advert in doc’s waiting room for flu shots for children!
Never before had I seen this. It was usually just for older folk.

If your kid had a flu shot on Saterday…. and now has flu…. how can you be sure it wasn’t the flu shot that did it?

Does that mean your kid needs anti biotic now?

The 'normal' runs of Colds and Flu's are GOOD FOR YOU.

They help you to keep your immune system strong NATURALLY.

And fight the nastier things like Covids, Cancers and Albasneezy's.

This is where the 'Western' Health world is 'over-achieving' and trying to eradicate something that gives people a few weeks in the year off for just catching up on a 'natural' benefit - 'long term'.
This is a bad move by the Western Health world - just like that stupid over-achieve for a Nobel Prize, by eradicating a bacteria in the gut (which causes an occasional ulcer), that has left millions of people 'compromised' as now 'fragiles' with all sorts of food allergies.  ::)

Having the influenza is pretty bad nowadays. I did use the flu as a way of losing weight -- because I am forced not to eat as much as I should. The hunger is non-existent until I have my designated meals. It is only during the meals that I realise how hungry my body was at the time.

My doctor lets me have a free dosage of the influenza vaccine, given that my diabetes condition allows me a free shot every year. I have to do this every year regardless, because my course requires me to be vaccinated against influenza every year.

Just this past week, I got a whooping cough vaccination. Included was a tetanus vaccination. I cannot recall the last time I was vaccinated for tetanus. Now, I am all up to date with my mandatory checks.

Sounds terrible Unsubrocky. Really does.
Sad to read that you are one of the growing many of 'addicted' and 'dependent' to the Big Pharma Fabricated Vaccine Show. They pump out Vaccines to viruses and bugs that don't even exist yet.
People experience huge growths on their arms where they are injected as if the monthly vaccine hits don't have anywhere to go? Some are starting to go 'rogue' in their systems and start mutating other stuff in our systems just out of sheer boredom!

We'll build a Shrine in your honour.

I'll get a tetanus and whooping cough vaccination soon.
These old fashioned diseases are much abated due to western medicine.
Most people do not know anyone who has had either of them for many years.
I'll be seeing my first grandchild next year, a whooping cough vaccination BEFORE seeing a baby is a good idea

Why—precisely—are you apparently so fearful of being vaccinated

In the year-to-date, of the 194,790 notifications of laboratory-confirmed
influenza, 194 influenza-associated deaths have been notified
to the NNDSS. Since seasonal surveillance commenced in April,
there have been 2,554 sentinel hospital admissions, of which
173 were admitted directly to ICU.

I certainly think that is a sensible idea.
it's likely that any diseases from the horses would have passed, like you I don't know.
It's unlikely you would get tetanus.
If you did, you'ld about a 10% chance of dying. You'ld likely have some time term detrimental health effects.
It'ld put you off ever gardening again.

Hell Sprinty.
Fidel Castro provided a better Health System with better 'results' as a Communist nation than the 'Western' USA version.
Americans now 'swim to Cuba' to escape the Evil Western Medicine scourge of the World.
Cubans lived/live 20 years longer than Americans. What's that tell you about the American 'Health'?

There are many countries exhibiting a better 'Health' outcome for their peoples - than 'Western' nations.

Western nations are more apt at winning Wars, than practicing 'good medicine'.

The Colds and Flu's help adapt the body to the change of season (Summer / Winter) extremes.
I get a bit worried if I don't get my yearly dose of Cold & Flu.
It means my immune system hasn't got its 'updated' version.

Too long without a natural immunity boost from a Cold or Flu - means that when I 'do get it' eventually, then KAPOW! It can really knock me back because my immune system has to play 'catchup'.
People who haven't had the Cold & Flu for many many years - well they say at the Funeral "But it was just a simple Cold (or Flu)! He should have been 'vaccinated'.  ::)".
He was, but none of those 'vaccines' can 'cure' a lack of in the first place.

If it was not for the fact that I am studying to work in the hospital system, I would probably not bother with getting the vaccines. The vaccinations are a mandatory requirement. I would not be allowed to go into placement, if my vaccination requirements are not up to date.

Influenza vaccinations are mandatory for me to undergo before I do clinical placement for work integrated learning. But, covid vaccinations are no longer required. I finished submitting the review of all of my mandatory checks today. Get 3 vaccinations of covid before you are placed in industry, the university says last year. But, this skip that requirement for this year.

However, they put a warning highlight against your name, if you are less than 2 months from your yearly influenza booster. Free vaccine this year. And free for a diabetic like me.

A crash helmet in a motorcycle accident might not be 100% effective against a head on collision with a car. But, I bet it is far better to have a helmet acting as a barrier, compared to not having a helmet at all.

How to beat hay fever this spring

Say "Achoo!" three times directly in the face of the nearest Chinese person for Good Luck & Fortune.  ;)

The Chinese are interesting people. During the Korean War, there was an allegation that they sneezed into South Korean prisoner of war captives. In 1951, an Australian team of 4RAR of scout snipers went looking for their captive allies and wounded soldiers near alleged POW camps. One Digger sniper and his scout found an enemy camp deep in North Korean territory, but only kilometres from Pyongyang.

Missing from their team was a soldier by the name of "David" -- real name unknown. David was located at the POW camp by the Australian two team member. They signalled their colleagues, hundreds of metres back, in a relay formation, to move up into position. Think the initial scenes of the movie "Predator", but with basic sniper weaponry and back up military support from regular Australian and 4RAR soldiers. Maybe 20 in total.

David was kept outside in the late Autumn weather -- Spring weather in Australia. About late September. But it was still quite cold for this Central Qlder's reckoning. The Nth Koreans were giving David until sundown on whether he wanted to kill himself or be tortured to death. The North Koreans waited until near sundown. They had their interpreter tell "David" to make a decision.

The sniper had eyes like an eagle, even for someone about 400 yards from the campsite. He could see 19 y.o. David shaking his head in disbelief. The scout had binoculars, and was deciding whether to bullrush the compound with the support group, or whether to let David die. The sniper was having none of that. He set up his sniper rifle with a basic telescopic scope on a Lee Enfield .303. Distance to target: 360 metres.

David had his last chance. The Nth Korean commander of the compound would let him live if he offered to sacrifice an American soldier in exchange. Since Australia was not much of a player in the Korean War (Thhbbbpt!), David would be spared.

David thought about things for a couple of minutes. But his demeanour went from bitter to acceptance inside that time. He asked that he commit suicide in exchange for the lives of the remainder of the POWs.

Being handed the commander's personal pistol, the North Korean commander let David have one last cigarette. It took David 5 minutes to smoke a cigarette that would have taken anyone else about 10 minutes to smoke, at that era. The interpreter urged David to slow down his smoking and enjoy his last moments alive. American Hueys were inbound, so David heard enough echoing noise that it was not long before he had to finish his cigarette.

North Korean soldiers manned positions around the compound...

With the commotion of the Hueys inbound, the commander decided to hold off the execution, out of the necessity of the inbound choppers. They left David outside as a hostage, to confuse the Americans about to fly over the compound. Having defecated himself, David went and got a pot and poured some water -- enough to make some tea. He boiled the water. Whilst waiting in this bitterly cool September afternoon, David  tipped the icy water from the rooftops to fill a nearby bucket.

Instead of making himself a pot of tea, David poured the contents of boiled water into the icy bucket of water. The water became tepid. But then David lifted up the 10kg bucket of water and poured it over himself, washing himself of the filth that had built up over the past week.

American Hueys flew over the compound. They saw David outside having a "bird bath". The Americans saw, from their Hueys, an Aussie doing an "Australian salute" -- brushing away the flies from his face, despite there being no flies about the place at that time of year. The gunner on the Huey waved back and then signaled to the pilots to fly onwards. Nothing to report.

After the sound of the Hueys died down, the commander came out and was relieved that David sent the Americans away. In exchange for the honourable act of bravery, the Nth Korean commander said that he could get a free pass to the border and go back to his group.

David asked if the other POWs would come with him. The commander said "You ask too much". David said that he would not leave unless half of the team would come along with him. The compound interpreter thought that was reasonable. The compound commander was unwavering. But, he said that he would let him choose 5 of the prisoners to go with him. David walked over to the hut and knocked on the door. The door was ordered open by the interpreter. The interpreter said that David was allowed to choose 5 POWs to go home with him.

Of the 5 chosen, 4 were young American soldiers. David also chose a Lieutenent. The Lieutenent said no. So, David chose the youngest POW (a medic) and his wife to go home. The interpreter had to make a quick negotiation with his commander. The commander reluctantly accepted the terms. A young Marine joined his comrades at the awaiting vehicle. His wife was a Sth Korean national.

Because of that exchange, David was asked to stay around and eat a meal with his captors for the rest of the night. David accepted the terms. The vehicle left without David.

Meanwhile, the Australian 4RAR unit (or whatever their call sign was at the time) had set up nighttime surveillance, with the help of an American gunner from the earlier Huey chopper. The twenty 4RAR military group divided into 15 support roles, and 5 to protect the scout snipers from counterattack.

American Marines were flanking from the eastern side of the compound. The Aussies were in close proximity and had a "bird's eye" view of proceedings.

Meanwhile, David finished the rations of his meal and was given some local fresh water for his troubles. The commander asked, in broken English, why David did not just leave when given the opportunity. David said that he was protecting a spy. The commander angered at the insult, insisted on getting David to talk about who was the spy, even if they had already left. David said that he was still in the compound right now. The commander realised that he had been fooled.

The interpreter said "David, you either tell him who it is, or we both die".

David said "Nah, fock that".

The commander pulled out his own sidearm and pointed the weapon at David. The interpreter fell backwards out of his seat onto the ground.

Like magic, the commander's hand exploded, relinquishing the firearm. David picked the side arm off the ground and shot the commander and his lieutenant in the heads. Then David fell to the ground.

Shots rang out around the compound. Marines swarmed the compound and finished off the remainder North Korean soldiers having dinner. Only one or two Marines fired their weapons upon the North Korean soldiers. The remainder Marines freed the hostages from the hut.

The Marines wondered why there were so many dead Nth Koreans dead, when so few shots were fired by their team. They noticed that David was injured slightly in the leg. It was not a perfect record. David said to the North Korean interpreter that he could get up, now and leave with him. The interpreter got up and went out to the awaiting vehicle.

David also hopped his way out to the last vehicle that the Americans arrived inside. He got in and waited silently. He asked that he be driven a mile away and get dropped off. It was late at night, and the Americans thought he was "tough as nails" or whatever the interpretation of the story was told. The journey took about 3 minutes 45 seconds.

I don't know what the Olympic mile record is. But there is an Albie Thomas Mile that gets run every year. There is also the Mitchell Street Mile held in Darwin.

They try to break the unofficial national mile record (set in 1952) every year.

Just thought you would like to know that.
