Scott Morrison promises no more COVID-19 lockdowns
across Australia if he is re-elected in the 2022 Federal Election

The Prime Minister suggested Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese is "keen" to take Australia back to the height of the coronavirus pandemic by plunging the country into lockdowns if case numbers continued to worsen as he made a significant pledge to Australians.

The Prime Minister took the remaining few days of the Federal Election campaign to Geelong on Wednesday where he was quizzed at a press conference about the soaring COVID-19 infections around the country.

Cases in Australia have climbed since the New Year when states and territories dropped their borders after most vaccination targets were achieved.

In recent days, more than 50,000 infections have been recorded each day through testing with an estimated 383,000 active cases around the country.

A reporter asked Mr Morrison what his government's plan was to slow one of the highest transmission rates in the world and to limit further COVID-deaths.

"We have one of the highest COVID transmission rate, we are approaching 6,000 deaths so far this year, was a decision taken that this is an acceptable number, and if not, what are you doing to stop 50 deaths from COVID a day in Australia?" he asked.

Mr Morrison flagged it was inevitable deaths would rise alongside cases but it did not mean the people passing away were dying from coronavirus.

"You will also know that as the number of case numbers has risen and that's what it was always going to happen, as part of the national plan that we put together with the states and territories, the case numbers would rise, and there were some 53,000 case numbers yesterday," he said.

"What you see when you have case numbers of that level is that people when they pass away, from many other causes, they will die with COVID, and their deaths are recorded as COVID deaths but that doesn't necessarily mean, as the premiers themselves have set out, that they passed away because of COVID, that's a very different proposition."

Thank you, Doctor Scott Morrison.  ::)

Yet another reason why he and his incompetent government needs to be voted out in this Saturday's election.

You're just as useless with medical knowledge as you were with the other jobs you've tried to have a go at lately in an attempt to deceive people into believing you're an "ordinary Aussie" (the arc welding was exceptionally funny).  ;D

For me (and many others, I'm sure) this BS would be the #1 reason why we need to get rid of him and the Liberals.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's the individual States and not Scott Morrison (or Anthony Albanese if he's PM after Saturday) who decide whether or not to have Covid lockdowns.

That incident was the fault of the health and safety officer not ScoMo.

ScoMo should never have been allowed to do that.

Hmm... perhaps Anthony Albanese is "keen" to try and avoid between 15,000 and 20,000 Covid deaths by the end of this year?

Scotty from Marketing's lot have managed about 5,500 so far this year and we're only halfway through May.

Wait till the flu season hits.
People will get Covid and flu at the same time.
It will be deadly.

Called flurona.

Maybe.

But, the important (and awkward for many, including Scotty) question is.... *drum roll*

Would most or all of these people still be alive today if they hadn't got Covid?

Hmm... let's see... we now have a choice between this and Scott Morrison's 'plan' to do nothing (which is what he's always been best at) and allow the Covid deaths and hospitalisations, etc. to continue and probably get worse over winter.

Tough decision to make here.  ::)

Read your copy of the Constitution, Booby.

The National Cabinet does not derogate from the sovereign authority and powers of the Commonwealth or any State or Territory government. The Commonwealth and the States and Territories, as appropriate, remain responsible for the implementation of responses to the Coronavirus.

The prime minister also recognised this in a press conference on May 5 2020. He said:

We’re a federation and, at the end of the day, states have sovereignty over decisions that fall specifically within their domain […] At the end of the day, every Premier, every Chief Minister has to stand in front of their state and justify the decisions that they’re taking in terms of the extent of the restrictions that are in place […] I respect the fact that they’ve each got to make their own call, just like I do, and they’ve got to explain it to the people who live in their state and they’ve got to justify it. And I think that’s the appropriate transparency and accountability.

Only a fool or a liar would make this promise.

Sky News ... one of the pro-Coalition propaganda outlets. This article is NOT trustworthy because it offered no opportunity for the Leader of the Opposition to refute the assertion.

Furthermore, the Covid-19 lockdowns happened WHILE SCOTT MORRISON WAS PM.
