And it gets rid of nuclear waste which suddenly makes nuclear power plants more attractive as well given that dealing with waste is a big deterrent for many people.

Unfortunately I think Geoff is correct. The oil and gas industries will try to sabotage them so it might be a while before they become more mainstream..

They are useful for remote sensors and things which require essentially no energy to operate.  They aren't useful for anything else.  It would take hundreds of millions of these batteries to do anything useful for a home or an EV.  Obviously a non-starter.   Also, this technology isn't particularly new.  They are called beta-voltaics.

To put this into perspective, a tiny solar cell with roughly the same footprint as an AA battery produces 3000x more power (750x more energy with 6 hours of sun per day) than one of these nuclear diamond batteries.

Gee. I've been telling this Forum for nearly a decade that Atomic/Nuclear batteries have already been invented.
Even Isaac Asimov predicted it via his Foundation series.

Monk posted this thread without checking out the details first.
The little battery referred to is only capable of flea power -
maybe running a wrist watch at most.

Any larger use would require a battery the size of a garage
and have a huge amount of dangerous nuclear waste.
Where did Monk get his BSc from?

Look at it this way, a garage full of nuclear waste might actually be beneficial for you. Especially if that radiation leaks through into that thick skull of yours.

It certainly can't make things any worse for you.
