Title: Airless car tyres Post by Captain Nemo on Feb 22nd, 2022 at 11:00am
Hmm ... on the one hand, 8% of tyres are scrapped due to unrepairable punctures and more are lost to under/over inflation.
So ... maybe a good idea? On the other hand, you can increase the load bearing capacity of your car with conventional tyres when needed by pumping them up a bit. |

I've had one puncture in 20 years which means every tyre I've bought (bar one) has been used to the full capacity of its life.
Is the extra material used to make an airless tyre a net gain or loss in material that can only be partially recycled? |

The cops won't like them ... road spikes would be useless

They're no good, they warp in shape so the tread goes all wonky. Especially if the car hasn't moved for awhile.

It's important to inflate to the same pressure on each side.

they have tried similar tyres on bikes for some time.
The are not effective, an air cushion is good. As Aquascoot said, punctures are few and far between |

Tyres filled with marijuana or illegal immigrants go a long way.
