I am a firm believer in that respect has to be earned.

I am happy to consider someone else's opinion or ways.
I am happy to make allowances for others and their ideas.
I am even willing to treat people with courtesy.

But I respect no one or collective until they or it have earned that respect.

Additionally,
When someone or some collective demonstrates tendencies or ways that do not deserve respect, I give them none.

I did a semester of Peace Studies - the professor made the fatal mistake of asking if we live in a violent society - when I offered him chapter and verse he was a shattered man holding on to the shards of his belief system, and could only respond with personal criticism.

How can you get an honest answer to that question if you do not understand what violence means?  Why do we have different standards of 'violence' for specified groups?  Why are some groups considered 'violent' and others not?  Why and how does the operation of government not involve violence in many forms?  Why is law considered violent to Indigenous but not others for the same reasons?  Is it not the simple truth that even having separate forms of 'defined violence' are violence against specified groups, an excuse to attack them? Is not having 'forces in being' such as police and courts that behave abominably not violence against the community?
Is not preference for specified groups violence  (you steal my very life when you steal that by which I sustain that life) ... and so forth.

Truly a lost soul ... if you must ask 'do we live in a violent society' - first set the parameters of which kind of violence you wish to discuss - so we can all see how weak your overall position is.

Have to wonder HTF some of these people get to be any form of 'academic' when they have so little understanding of realities...

Law is essentially a social science discipline with a strong history and philosophy component. Economics is a great many different things but again, it is applied social science with a lot of maths. Medicine is in itself mostly apolitical as a science but as a helping discipline, it is increasingly infliltrated, like everything else, by progressive social justice and equity ideology.

Also remember that roughly half of university staff are academics, the rest administrators. Left wing bias is even more pronounced among university administrators. Look at any university's policies. Universuties have been told to strengthen their free speech policies! No platforming and cancelling speakers and trigger warnings and safe places - these are happening at every public university.

"First Nations" is an insidious neologism, of course. They were here first, before the Europeans arrived, but none of them were nations, not even remotely.
Which is what Terra Nullius, a legal term, meant: not that there were no humans here but that there were no sovereign nations or states with whom a legal treaty could have been negotiated. Nullius Nations before 1788.

I have been in the thick of it in an executive role for the better part of 25 years and know how universities think and work.

It's a movement brought on by stupidity and the need of the idiots to feel important.

Much like the HR personnel in many companies.
Stupid things like writing safety instructions using diggers instead of women.
Things like changing engineering drawings that reference masculine descriptions, or what is perceived as masculine. Ie, manhole, changed to access hole.
I have even heard one ridiculous female HR manager wanting to change management to some weird term.

Universities, schools, and other institutes of learning are gradually being destroyed by woke stupidity.

At one university, they even set up a computer room, painted it all outback themes and prevented any but "people who identified as abbo" from entering.
Imagine a white only room.

But the real stupidity of this was that the abbos who used that room had never been in the outback, not once.

There are also specially set up prayer rooms for muzzos.
No Christian, Jew, Buddhist or other rooms. Why?

I have stated many times
I don't care what colour, race, creed or religion people belong to ( except the muzzo cult)
And I judge the people by their actions, not by their colour, creed race or religion ( with the exception of Islamic terrorists)

Teaching should be to teach, not indoctrinate.

When I went to uni, it was expected that we challenge the subject matter.
But that was engineering, not the woke games the students of teaching were indoctrinated into.
They were fed absolute rubbish by the system and told  "This is how it is"

To pass a subject, they had to be more and more "politically correct" that others.
This was 40 plus years ago, and its only gotten worse since.

Was it because teachers are not expected to be as intelligent as other subjects (Lowest entry requirements of any profession)
Or was it because the females, even then, were taking over the system and looking for ways to ostracize men from the profession.

I had a friend enrolled in teaching who went to the same uni as I and we often spoke of our various lecturers.
She eventually left teaching and went into law.
It was a shame. because she would have brought more intelligent thought into teaching, but that's not what they want.

Until the teaching profession is brought back into line and focused on the core subjects.
I fear that our children and grandchildren will be further indoctrinated into woke stupidity, in fact they will strive to be even more woke that their predecessors.

Universities are treating students like the boy who wouldn't grow up.

The threshold for what can be deemed triggering seems to get lower by the day. Back in 2016, the law faculty at Oxford introduced trigger warnings to its lectures on sexual offences. Barely a year later, English literature undergraduates at Cambridge were given trigger warnings for Shakespeare plays for their ‘potentially distressing topics’. Last year, in an irony of ironies, students at the University of Northampton were warned of the potential thoughtcrimes they might encounter in George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four. And now, we have reached a new low, where even children’s literature can be considered challenging and hurtful to students.

So, what exactly is supposed to be ‘triggering’ about Peter Pan? According to Aberdeen University, it isn’t the ticking crocodile or the villainous Captain Hook that is likely to give students the biggest fright, but the novel’s ‘odd perspectives on gender’. How terrifying.

I think the Spanish Inquisition was when the Homosexuals were in charge.
They persecuted (murdered) heaps of women - just for being 'breeders'.
They used to torture hetero-males by lowering them anus first onto spikes and other homo-fetish tortures.

Sadly for the Spanish Inquisition - it didn't do the Homo-sexual cause any good as it showed a 'failing' of what it means to be a responsible and honourable 'Celibant' (Non-Sexual) which is the original dedication before being corrupted by Homo-sexuals (sex addicts).

The Inquisition was also known to sexually abuse women who were incarcerated along with hetero-males.

That's where parenting comes into it imo.
While it is necessary for my kids to attend school, my wife and I make sure that they are not being brainwashed into a bizzare culture of thinking that seems to have taken over since the gay marriage vote (which any smart human knew would happen).

School is there to educate my kids in the required subjects they take on, not how and what they should be in life. That's our job as parents.

Thankfully my kids will never have the wool pulled over their eyes.  :)

It is the same here in Australia, in Britain, Canada. Especially at university humanities and social 'science' departments. A woke American disease.
