Posting NSW worst Daily case number LGAs, now in this separate thread. You will get a clear picture of the trends in these worst LGAs. To help in stopping the spread of Covid, it would be a good idea to avoid these LGAs in your daily travels

The next highest, Randwick, Bayside, Georges River and Woolongong are high but still below 1,000, as per the day before

Some LGAs in Regional southern NSW, that had 2-5 cases, are now free of Covid. Others are improving. News reports of further lockdowns in Rural NSW are only for one or two specific LGAs, but the overall picture for Rural NSW is generally looking better

There are a number of Rural LGAs that have enjoyed zero cases to date. One of those, Oberon, now has 15 cases

And how do they determine a new case? With the flawed PCR test!

July 16, 2020, podcast, “This Week In Virology”, Fauci makes a point of saying the PCR COVID test is useless and misleading when it's run at “35 cycles or higher.” A positive result, indicating infection, cannot be accepted or believed.

An excerpt from Fauci’s key quote, starting at the 4m01s mark through to the 5m45s mark - Fauci begins his first answer to the first question at the 4m20s mark and begins his second answer to the second question at the 5m26s mark:

“…If you get [perform the test at] a cycle threshold of 35 or more…the chances of it being replication-competent (i.e. accurate) are miniscule…you almost never can culture virus (detect a true positive result) from a 37 threshold cycle…even 36…”

https://youtu.be/a_Vy6fgaBPE?t=241

Too many cycles, and the test will turn up all sorts of irrelevant material that will be wrongly interpreted as relevant.

That’s called a false positive.

What Fauci failed to say on the video is, the FDA, which authorizes the test for public use, recommends the test should be run up to 40 cycles. Not 35.

Testing in Oz would follow the FDA recommendations.

Those being tested should demand to be told how many cycles the test is being run at. If they're not told they should sue.

According to the 2016 Census, there's slightly more Catholics than people of the Islamic faith, but pretty much all of them are ethnic, born overseas and 63.7% of them speak a non-English language at home

Have you watched that SBS show "The school that tried to eliminate racism"? .... funny, one of the young ethnic male pupils said "Captain Cook stole Australia from the Aboriginals"

The teacher neglected to pick him up on that .... If what he said is true, then that makes the young bloke an accessory to theft, he's guilty of theft by association because he and his parents are still here, his parents being responsible for him and apparently have never explained to him why they came here, reasons that far outweigh any sense of guilt about "stealing" from Aboriginals

I haven't seen a more racist show from SBS, and all the racism was directed subtly at the Traditional Anglo Aussie, and the English. There were rare occasions though where the pupils displayed more intelligence than the teacher, what might be called being more sensible - the teacher was shocked into silence!

There's been a mishap with this thread. Not sure how it happened, I've clicked on wrong buttons or something that mysteriously put things out of whack

7th of Oct is now missing for some reason, and when I went to post today's, the 8th, the topic never went to the top of the topics list as it should have done

Nevertheless, today's Covid cases is done so just read that and never mind about previous days, case numbers are going down anyway

Let's hope they stay down, or at least a slow increase.  Soon enough the case numbers won't matter anymore, the focus will shift to the Hospital numbers etc.

Singapore have had to increase their restrictions again after a far higher vaccination rate was reached than Sydney.  It's unlikely we'll need to worry about that for NSW given the new leadership, I just hope it's the right call.

It was mainly deserted streets that got the numbers down. Fill the streets up again and anything could happen

Sounds like the vaccinations aren't working that well in Singapore.

The politicians sold you a pup in claiming vaccines are our way out of this idiots like SK fell for this fake news hook line and sinker.

AstraZeneca Scientist Says Delta Variant Makes Herd Immunity Impossible. Here's Why

The Delta variant has changed the equation for achieving herd immunity, the developer of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine has said.

Speaking at a UK parliamentary meeting on Tuesday, Sir Andrew Pollard, a professor of pediatric infection and immunity at the University of Oxford, said that achieving herd immunity is "not a possibility" now that the Delta variant is circulating.

He said it was unlikely that herd immunity will ever be reached, saying the next variant of the novel coronavirus will be "perhaps even better at transmitting in vaccinated populations".

Vaccinated people can still get the Delta variant, albeit as a milder case
Some experts had hoped that herd immunity could be reached with COVID-19, as was the case with measles, which is also highly infectious. Many countries have achieved herd immunity with measles by vaccinating 95 percent of the population against it, such as the US, where endemic transmission ended in 2000. That is because once a person is vaccinated against measles, they cannot transmit the virus.

But growing evidence suggests that, with the Delta variant, fully vaccinated people can still transmit the virus.
"We don't have anything which will stop that transmission to other people," Pollard said.

Idiots like sad sack think non sterlising vaccine for covid will do something the virologists have been saying for over a year they will do nothing to end this pandemic it will only boost profits for Big Pharma.

These vaccinated people who get infected and shed this virus are perfect hosts for this virus to evolve with further mutations.

You'll manipulate anything to suit your agenda won't you?

actually, he sounds  pretty correct and maybe its YOU who will manipulate anything.

the UK saw 40,000 NEW CASES today.

in a country that is almost fully vaxxed.

so the virus is continuing to circulate in vaxxed people and that MUST lead to the probablility of vaccine escape.

thats just a fact of nature.

you owe baron an apology but i dont you will issue one as you argue in bad faith

Modelling, eh? Assumptions + partial understanding. And much more complex systems like climate are modelled with great confidence.

Yeah, try not to think too hard, Frank. You'll fry out your last firing brain neuron.

The Pandemic Speaks
Unlike you, nature respects my purpose-driven existence.

You should know that I haunted the streets of Athens with measles. I watched Pericles die. I destabilized Rome and the Song dynasty. I humbled the Pharaohs, and killed peasants in the 14th century like hail on wheat. I wept with satisfaction during the siege of Tenochtitlan as my smallpox outdid itself. I dogged Napolean’s shivering armies with typhus. I violated England’s working classes with the blue death, cholera. I killed essential workers on the Panama Canal with yellow fever. I visited the trenches of the First World War with influenza. You’ve carried on with your great and complex ambitions, and I have laid them low. Need I go on with tales of Ebola, HIV and SARS?

I am an eternal force of history, and, let’s be honest, you are not.

Sounds like the vaccinations aren't working that well in Singapore.

It's true once we reach certain vaccination thresholds we need to transition from case numbers to hospitalisation and death as the markers because the virus will spread.  Our vaccines offer us protection from the virus, but it doesn't lower the transmissibility, not with these vaccines. Hopefully there will be such a vaccine in the future, but we'll take what we can get for now.

Of course, none of this is new information, we've known it from the beginning.

But it's all a conspiracy from big pharma lol...

It's a very different situation in Singapore. They have a higher number of people living in the same households. They have a policy of, if you test positive they urge you to go to hospital until you have overcome your infection to protect the elderly or more vulnerable you may live with.

When they have an exposure site, they send out home testing kits and throughout the pandemic they provided their residents with free masks and hand sanitizer.

They have been reintroducing some restrictions to again slow the spread as their policy of going into hospital or a facility on a positive result isn't able to keep up.

They've been through many respiratory epidemics before, they actually know they're doing, at least in comparison to our government.

Again, all "Downs" ...  So, and I repeat, as yet, the predicted rise in cases from limited opening-up hasn't materialized, but we'll need to stay alert

Covid cases from overseas is 1 again today, with 7 active overseas cases all up

To continue the steady decline in cases, the Government will need to handle further re-opening very skillfully, and we don't need more "Gladys" blunders either, nor threatening language from the new Premier, so far he's been pretty human and that has helped

International travel could start soon, so that needs to be handled well too, otherwise .....

Let's hope not ... but I'm expecting slight bumps everywhere in Sydney, and maybe some Rural. It all depends on how quickly new cases can be quarantined and how well that quarantining works. I think Private contractors are still doing that job

The downward trend is continuing except for the very small increase in overseas cases. We'll need to watch if this becomes more of a problem as international flights start arriving in numbers

Covid is definitely moving on, but Canterbury/Bankstown is lagging behind in the race up from the Covid pit, but then again, it had the most cases to start with. The politicians would be mad not to learn a lesson from that

As a matter of interest, Sydney LGA, Bayside, Randwick and Georges River, all of which are basically central Sydney LGAs and which had relative high numbers of cases a month ago, are still above 200 cases each. When these are added to the rest of the greater Sydney area, there is still more than 7,300 total cases (again, that's just for greater Sydney, not entire NSW)

Edit: If you just saw Canterbury/Bankstown at 1273, that was the wrong number of cases and I've just corrected it to show today's correct No of 1098

I've noticed NSW Health has forgotten to change the date on their Cases site, it displays "25th" instead of "26th", always the previous day to when they publish the new cases. The date I show in these posts is always today's date, but I slipped up two days ago and there's now two days as the "24th" ... but the number of cases are still correct, it was only the date "24th" I forgot to change, to the 25th

You'll see now that the cases for Canterbury/Bankstown is lower today than yesterday when it suffered a very slight upward trend

PS I will be late posting tomorrow, about 5:30pm, because I'm going in for my second dose

There's still no evidence of the predicted rise in cases resulting from the limited re-opening. If all goes well, NSW could be free of Covid in a few months, but we'll have to still take care at Christmas time, Covid will still be lingering around in many LGAs. In Sydney, the Northern suburbs will be the safest. And in Rural NSW, LGAs west of the Blue Mountains

Overseas cases have been fluctuating between 9 and 12, and holding steady at that, which means a new case arrives now and then, and this is contrary to the overall general trend we have at the moment in NSW

There's one small LGA in southern NSW I haven't been watching, which is high at 438 cases, and that is Albury ... it's probably visited often by Victorians shopping there perhaps

I just searched "Wodonga" which as we all know is the other half of "Albury/Wodonga" straddling the NSW Victoria border ...

Wodonga      402

So if we consider Albury/Wodonga as a single LGA, the total cases is 868 ... not real good at this stage of the game

Overall, cases continue to fall but Albury is up again today, spoiling the party. Overseas cases are holding steady, however we need to remember that an infection arrives every couple of days, not many, but we can judge whether the effectiveness of testing and "quarantining" is working by how many times we see "0" in the overseas case numbers

No published NSW case numbers for today for some reason, only new "Overseas" numbers are available. Why this has happened I have no idea (I suspect foul play because there's been some "UPs" lately which have ended the good run of "DOWNs", except for Albury)

There is a jump in Overseas case numbers ....

Covid cases from overseas is 5 today, with 17 active cases all up

That's all there is for today folks. If the new numbers of the NSW LGAs are published through the evening, I will post them then

Things are changing on the NSW Health reporting site ....

[i]"From Monday 15 November, NSW Health will no longer provide a breakdown of locally acquired and overseas acquired COVID-19 cases in its daily updates, but instead provide a total of all cases," a NSW Health spokesperson.
Due to quarantine-free travel in the state, the source of infection can no longer be accurately reported on a daily basis, NSW Health said.
NSW Health will still report the breakdown of locally and internationally acquired cases but in the weekly surveillance report instead.
"This breakdown of locally and overseas acquired cases will now be reported in NSW Health's weekly COVID-19 weekly surveillance reports."
International arrivals are required to have a COVID-19 test seven days after arrival.

whilst that is true sprint, it would seem vaccines are wearing off very quickly.
and the disease is definitely vecoming endemic

gibraltar has the highest vax rate in the world at 96 %  and they are currently seeing cases skyrocket.

deaths are greatly reduced but you really want to work on your fitness, diet and weight.

Those percentages are from Oct, but NSW Health has made changes to their reporting since then. Their info is now weekly and minimal at that, about Overseas cases and deaths. It looks like we'll get no more info or percentages on vaccinated deaths. Or whether quarantining is working 100% for overseas infected arrivals. Those cases are small in total number and that total never seems to go down to zero. Or if any of them are spreading Delta around in the community once they are finished quarantining

NSW Health probably doesn't want to scare us with what is actually happening regarding the opening-up of the State. We're seeing small rises, which was to be expected, but we no longer have much of an idea who or what is causing those rises

There's a new variant spreading out of Africa, called "Omicron" ... countries are closing their borders ... we may have to close our border as well

We've yet to find out how deadly it is ... the current vaccines are pretty useless against it they reckon

Bias, I'm sure aqua will be along shortly to tell us that Omicron is just another challenge and we should bounce out of bed with renewed vigour and hit the gym to defeat this new threat.

And, make sure you stay away from fast food and Netflix, etc., of course so we don't all end up like Steve and Janine/Janeen.  ::)

Omicron is in it's early stages of research and interest, but it's already been picked up in Israel, Belgium, and Hong Kong. It was first detected in South Africa. Travelers are spreading it around internationally

Let's hope it's a mild one like those that were discussed about at the beginning of Covid in 2020, the predicted less effective variants that follow from the main ones, Covid 19, and Delta

However, Slomo Morrison would be wise to restrict travel from South Africa .... NOW ... and not wait till Omicron reaches our shores. Other countries have already blocked travel from SA ... It will take months to produce new vaccines for this Omicron variant, if the vaccines are successful in their trials

I've included the small LGA of Newcastle, and I've re-entered Inverell, it's not going down below 100 as I thought it was, it's hovering around at the 118-120 mark

Eight "UPs" today. Again small rises .... but Covid is still hanging around, it simply won't go away

Low case number LGAs but still high enough to mention ... , Randwick (138 UP one), Newcastle (137 Down)

Six "UPs" today

The politicians are once again saying we just have to live with Covid, so I'll cease posting these case numbers daily and instead post them once a week or thereabouts

It's difficult to know what the high rate of vaccination is achieving, but one thing we do know is that the re-opening of NSW has caused some LGAs to rise in number and prolonging the death knell of Covid in the State. Many other LGAs are successfully lowering their case numbers, some down to zero. But others are stabilizing at a certain number and fluctuating up and down around that number

We also can't be sure what the new Omicron variant will do but it's already in Australia and the restriction of flights from Africa is only 14 days. We'll have to see what the politicians do after that 14 days

We'd be wise to keep wearing masks and social distancing no matter where we go or what we're doing, vaccinated or not, because Covid is still a risk, and it might be for another six months or so, it's hard to tell, it depends on what the politicians do in the near future. It may all come back to what the Premier said this morning: "We have to live with Covid" .... so there you go

September was about the worst.
During late October it was reducing.
Deaths since then very low and State is pretty much open as far as I know.
As more people got vaccinated and the effects seeped in, deaths declined greatly.
They almost stopped.

It took Covid to teach the Vietnamese and Indians etc what cleanliness and personal hygiene means. When Covid is gone, they'll go back to their filthy ways, nothing surer

The Vietnamese were wearing face masks before you'd ever heard of covid 19, dear. It took Asian immigration to clean up the suburbs, start small businesses, raise education scores and create an aspirational professional class in rustbelt postcodes full of laid-off workers.

You?

Northern Beaches  15,854   Down

Penrith                15,494     Down

Blacktown still has the highest number of cases in NSW. Blacktown is an extreme multicultural LGA with a growing number of black Africans who live in apartment blocks. It was only a matter of time before Blacktown became the forerunner ahead of Canterbury/Bankstown which has a high non English speaking population

Nevertheless, cases in these worst two LGAs in NSW have come down significantly in the last week from their peaks of just over 40,000

NSW Health has stopped updating cases per LGA on their Covid 19 Transmission site, just when cases are expected to rise again

They haven't updated for the last fourteen days, only the days's dates changed, but not the cases

The NSW LGA Covid map in the link shows the same number of cases in each LGA as my last post on the 4th March

https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/covid-19/Pages/stats-nsw.aspx

Also, watch out for that Japanese encephalitis. There's eight cases so far in NSW, it's not pleasant, it's deadly, I've had a type of encephalitis years ago which I reckon I got from a mosquito bite, so cover up and use protectant, even in the big city, that's where I was when I got it, it lasted six weeks in my case. Doctors didn't know what it was. Basically it's inflammation of the brain, and it needs cooling with fans, cool drinks and ice packs. Staying in bed is a mistake, blood needs to circulate to keep the brain a bit active. If there is a pharmaceutical medicine for it, I don't know what it is, there may be none at all, you'd have to find out. You can't hardly think or concentrate for any longer than a few minutes at a time, after which time you nearly collapse on the floor. I got through it by sheer will power, the doctors didn't have a clue ... but now that encephalitis has "Japanese" in front of it, they suddenly have a clue

The problem turns out to be Firefox which doesn't accept updates any more, it'd old and worn out, like me. I downloaded Google Chrome and it doesn't crash but neither does it let me log in to Ozpolitics

I keep getting "The User ID field was not filled out. It is required"

                                        8,667 to 17,825 to 18,974      Canterbury/Bankstown   UP

This is what the four worse LGAs in NSW look like now

Canterbury/Bankstown which held the top spot for two years, is at the bottom of this short list. It's no surprise that Blacktown has gained the lead and has been there for some time, it's very multicultural and racially diverse, and hygiene standards are pretty low in Blacktown

This is what the four worse LGAs in NSW look like now just before the Federal election. Cases are down, but deaths are up (deaths not recorded here in this post. See other forum topics for death rate in the States and Nationally, ie Bobby's Australia NZ thread)

Canterbury/Bankstown is climbing back up towards the top. Blacktown is still holding top spot and likely to stay there for some time yet

                   8,667 to 17,825 to 18,974 to 9,980 to 8,033      Canterbury/Bankstown   Down

This is what the four worst LGAs in NSW look like now ... down since May but have remained steady since that drop, to present day

Multicultural multi-ethnic Blacktown is still the worst LGA in NSW

Blacktown and Canterbury/Bankstown (also multicultural and multi-ethnic) have been the worst LGAs nearly the whole of the 2 1/2 years of Covid's existence in NSW

Central Coast held the top spot for a little while, but I believe that holidaying Sydneysiders infected the Central Coast when travel restrictions were lifted before last Christmas. This "holidaying" trend may also apply to the Northern Beaches, hence why it's now in third spot

Correction ...

Sutherland Shire (8,082) is slightly higher than Canterbury/Bankstown (8,033) ... my mistake

This takes Canterbury/Bankstown out of the "Four Worst LGAs" equation for the time being

Multicultural multi-ethnic Blacktown is still the worst LGA in NSW, and getting worse - Not surprising, I was there a little while ago and very few were wearing masks. There's a lot of Indians, Vietnamese, African blacks, Filipino, and others, tens of thousands of whom were born overseas. All of this can be a great disadvantage to an LGA and Australia when dealing with diseases such as Covid 19

Canterbury/Bankstown is back in third spot
