It's no joke, and it actually works.

The sodium conducts the heat away from the head of the
valve, resulting in it running cooler.

Not a big deal in a standard engine, but in high-performance
engines such as racing cars and motorcycles, or big aircraft
engines, it can make quite a lot of difference.

Racing cars and high performance motorcycles use titanium valves. They don't last that long racing car engines they're replaced when rebuilding the Yamaha R6 uses them.

Inconel is used for exhaust pipes with racing it's expensive so unlikely to be used for cheap production cars.

If you put pure Sodium in water it will catch on fire

I never heard of it before.
You gotta admit, it sounds like a ....... weird thing.

Saw it in the garb about the new V6 petrol turbo for the landcruisers.

It was a popular mod for high-performance and racing engines in the mid-20th century.

Not sure they are going to sell a petrol here though, might have to order one from Saudi, they are very quick i hear good for ripping up those dunes. RIP THE V8.

The new 300 series coming soon!
