Covid-19 UK: Strain more transmissible than Delta hits UK A worrying new strain of Covid-19 that is more transmissible than Delta has been found in the community in the UK. Mitchell Van Homrigh Moosk July 5, 20213:46pm It is a worrying sign for the UK which has recently relaxed Covid-19 restrictions after 37 million people received at least one dose of a vaccine. The country had returned to normality in recent weeks with pubs flooded by revellers enjoying their country’s recent success at Euro 2020. However, these civil liberties could change if the highly transmissible Lambda strain spreads across the community. Cayetano Heredia University Professor Pablo Tsukayama said the strand has exploded in Peru with the new variant currently making up 82 per cent of cases in the South American country. “That would suggest its rate of transmission is higher than any other variant,” he said. His claims were backed up by a report from London’s Covid-19 Genomics Initiative at the Welcome Sanger Institute director Jeff Barrett. |

It's the horror Lambda strain.
Rumor: the lambda strain is more infectious than every other strain and is vaccine resistant |

So, as long as this Lambda strain doesn't get into Australia we should be OK, right?
Oh, wait... look what happened with Delta and all the other Covid strains. Oops. Stand by for Lambda, coming soon to an airport near you. Closely followed by the rest of the Greek alphabet, no doubt. |

Sooner or later we'll get a variant that is completely resistant to any of the vaccines. |

The question is how deadly is it.....???
Historically when a virus mutates it becomes weaker. |

It's already in at least 30 countries. Scotty from Marketing will make sure we get it too. |

Yep, no doubt aided and abetted by noisy minorities like this one: Liberty Victoria comes out swinging about international arrival caps Quote:
Perhaps they should take it up with Scotty from Marketing and ask why most (or all?) of the 20,000 overseas arrivals each month were not "stranded Aussies" as we found out last week. So, since international arrivals are going to be slashed by half does that mean we'll only be getting half the number of businessmen, "celebrities", sports "stars" and other assorted rich and "famous" people from July 14th? ::) Stand by for even more private flights arriving in Australia and flying between States. But, not arriving at the major airports in attempts to avoid bad publicity, of course. |

Well, that didn't take long. In fact, it was already here in April.
The Lambda coronavirus variant has arrived in Australia. Here's what we know so far https://www.abc.net.au/news/health/2021-07-06/what-we-know-about-the-lambda-variant/100267978 Quote:
What happened to all of this *alleged* testing that was supposed to done before anyone boards a flight to Australia nowadays? Hmm... let's see... 1. Certain people are still not doing their jobs properly (or at all) by not bothering with preflight Covid tests (costs too much). or... 2. The tests are flawed. Probably a combination of both. Quote:
I'll give it a week... two at the most... before this one also 'escapes' from hotel quarantine. ::) |
