I am going down to SEQld in July for a party. Apart from some warm changes of clothing and the toiletries, I intend on taking my laptop and some dvds to watch on the downtime. If the hotel does not have wifi provided for the customers, which might be unusual, I cannot see how well I would do with the phone other than to use the mobile data and the phone calls.

But I have been using my new mobile phone for alarms, locating street addresses, photographs, video, and getting information about certain events. Other than that, I use the phone for Facebooking and keeping in touch with work.

I remember living without a mobile phone until the year 2000. But I do not know how I would be going without using a mobile phone. I was told that I was really good at living off the grid. No mobile phone. No credit card. Spent cash rather than using a bank card. Did not have home internet until 1998. I was the understudy to Jason Bourne.

I rest my case.

Because when you are required to be subscribed to a group chat over Facebook for work-related purposes, it does come in handy to have a phone with internet access to organise shifts and problems that need to be addressed online.

I bet you are glued to the phone like a Catholic priest on an altar boy.

I used my Cell phone to supplement my very poor DSL until that service became so bad I cancelled it entirely. Tethering to my Desk top and tablet is second nature now. For almost two years our only home internet was tethered phones. However my carrier just offered 5g home internet for $50 even and it works great. My DSL speed was less than 700mbps, my 5g averages 40 gig!

My wife has been a local library member for 12 years. Yesterday, she went to get a book (a real one) and they would not let her in without a mobile phone contact tracing app. My guess is that if this Covid pandemic ends, the government will not end its contact tracing. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

Having a haircut the other day, I had to do the QR code at the front of the store before entering. Before that time (on my previous visit for a haircut), I had to write down my name and phone number on the pad listing names and phone numbers and time of visit.

Given that the government is using these contact tracing apps to contact trace, it is difficult to understand how the government would be using contact tracing in any other manner.
