First of all -
Pokies used to be an 89% payout in Victoria but then the Govt
changed it to 87%.

Also - the advice on that page is nonsense.

Anyway -

I reached over $5,000 the first night after an hour or so.
I thought - that is a bit strange.
How can it be so easy to win?

I tried it again the next night
and started from $100 and went up to $86,266. ;D

Obviously the game is rigged so that people who try it think it's really easy to win.
So - they give you bad gambling advice and then a fake game to make you think you can win.
Talk about a promotion.

What's the most that you or a friend ever won?

About 15 years ago I walked into Crown casino
and within 20 minutes I had won $2300 on a machine.
I walked straight away out with a cheque.

A friend of mine once won $10,000 on a pokie machine.

Hardly ever played them. I've won about $500 a couple of times on roulette, but I hardly go to casinos either.

Don't you reckon it's funny how the suburb with the highest income has almost no pokies? Wonder why that is :)

i know Im going to win, everyone does. Until theres real money involved. true story, some years ago, wont say which Casino but a woman was found dead by suicide in the toilets, ( not the first suicide there, they never report in the media), her husband had retired, drew out all his super and put it in a joint account, she got hooked and blew it all. Hung herself in the toilets. Not the only sad story i know of, casinos and online gambling should be banned, too much human misery. They give you plastic chips because people dont identify it as money so easily if they lose, you will also notice there are no clocks on the casino floor. They also play recordings of coins gushing out of machines to make you think there are people winning all the time, none of it illegal.

You obviously don't like games.
Example for me -
I like playing chess even if it's with the computer.
Windows 7 has a chess game loaded into it from Microsoft called chess Titans which I can beat on the highest level 10.
It's fun to play.

I put it on 50 spins at a time then sit back and watch it
or let it go in a smaller window while I'm doing something else.
The only skill is to up the size of the bet when you're winning
but not so much that you can't withstand a long run of no hits.

When you win 50% more than the amount you initially put in, then that is the time to check out. I won $55 after playing a few spins betting 30c spins. Five in a row let me win $60 and loss of $5 from my initial investment. The chance of winning those 5 in a row bonus spins is outside at best. Only done that twice in the last 8 years. Play conservatively.

The win-loss ratios were fairly even at one stage. I had an afternoon where I wanted to eat up an hour before work. I played at a nearby tavern and put in $5. After a few 10c spins, I got this 5 x wild card free spins feature. $160 won. That saved me a trip to the ATM the next day.

When you lose something, it is no longer in your possession. When you gamble, you are expecting the chance of a favourable pay off.

I saw my sister put $500 through the pokies once. I was down in Melbourne visiting her and she wanted to go to The Club. So we went. She drew $250 out of the ATM and off we went. I watched her put that through the pokies. I hadn't even seen a pokie for eons and still thought you could put 5 cents through. LOL

Anyway, she was putting notes through the machine and getting a few drops. She told me to put some money through. I looked in my purse and had 2 x $2 coins, so I put those through and actually got a drop, so I collected the drop and put that back in my purse. LOL

She laughed and by this time she was running out of funds so she gave me her Bank card and PIN and sent me off to draw another $250.

She lost most of that too. For years after that she called me The Last of the Big Spenders. She lost $500 and I spent $4 and "won" that back. ;D ;D ;D

Haven't been near a poker machine since.

My final straw not to play the pokies regularly was when I lost $200. That machine was playing cold. But after losing $100, I figured that I was due for a win. I played until I lost $200. If I walked away and someone won that money back, I would have fantasized about setting the pub up for a break and enter, I was that irritated.

I could not spend $3500 in one month, let alone one night. The last time I spent that amount of money was when I paid cash for a second-hand car (my first car).

Even in December, I am spending no more than $300 on 5 gift cards. I probably would not spend more than $1500 in a month on rent, food, petrol, bills and entertainment.

I played Big Red demo game again this afternoon.

I got up to $20 spins then hit a beauty.
It won $1,900 on that feature and
the total reached $2361.

After that I changed to $30 per spin bets and

gamblers at Pokies over estimate the value of any win they get.
example -
they can make a big deal out of the $1,000 they won today
but not consider the $10,000 they lost in the last year.

I played the Big Ben demo game last night for many hours.

I was letting it run for 50 spins at a time.
I slowly increased the size of the bets as I was winning.
I went from a $1 bet per spin to $100 bet per spin -
when I got to about $8,000 in winnings.

Here is a screenshot of when I made a $6,444 win
from a special feature.
The balance then was $35657.30 :)
It even went higher than that - to $37,585.30
before I switched it all off.
I wish the real machines played like that. ;D

I played a poker machine out at the nightclubs, one year. I won about $100. I hit the collect button and waited 10 minutes for someone to show. Some guy walked by and said that there would not be anyone around to pay me. He said that I might as well leave. A couple of minutes later, some attendant came and paid me my money. That guy was there telling me to leave so that he could collect.
