I am going to get the flu shot first.
Will be going back to NZ for a rapid visit soon, hence the flu shot.

Might sneak in a covid shot before I leave, the 2nd one after I get back.

Its a shame that no one in government has said ok, we have all this AZ around. Anyone who wants the shot now can come get it even if they are under 50.

So far the studies I have seen seem to suggest that whether you are vaccinated or not you can still catch it and transmit it to others.

As far as I'm aware the current crop of vaccines do not provide sterilisation immunity.

So far the studies I have seen seem to suggest that whether you are vaccinated or not you can still catch it and transmit it to others. As far as I'm aware the current crop of vaccines do not provide sterilisation immunity.

Which studies? And even if this is true, it would be at a loiwer rate than not being vaccinated, thus proving the benefit for the vaccination.

The advantages are

n the absence of sterilising immunity, what effect might SARS-CoV-2 vaccines have on the spread of a virus through a population? Asymptomatically infected people typically produce virus at lower levels. Though there is not a perfect relationship, usually more virus equals more disease. Therefore, vaccinated people are less likely to transmit enough virus to cause severe disease. This in turn means that the people getting infected in this situation are going to transmit less virus to the next susceptible person. This has been neatly shown experimentally using a vaccine targeting a different virus in chickens; when only part of a flock was vaccinated, unvaccinated birds still showed milder disease and produced less virus.

So, while sterilising immunity is often the ultimate goal of vaccine design, it is rarely achieved. Fortunately, this hasn’t stopped many different vaccines substantially reducing the number of cases of virus infections in the past. By reducing disease levels in individuals, this also reduces virus spread through populations, and this will hopefully bring the current pandemic under control.

I took my 91 year aunt to see her GP today for some new scripts for tablets she has to take. We also discussed the Covid vaccine and my aunt will be having her first Covid "jab" next Tuesday.

My own GP is at the same medical practice but I didn't get a chance to talk to him but my aunt's doctor said I shouldn't have a problem with the Covid vaccine even with my ongoing 3 monthly Lucrin injections but advised me to wait until after my thyroid surgery on May 26th (assuming it doesn't get cancelled again).

Happy now?

All the political connotations put to this are 'beside the point.'

Problem is, cods - the Australian government has 'backed the wrong horse' so to speak by making the AstraZeneca vaccine the main one they've obtained for Australia. This was understandable, of course, since the AZ vaccine doesn't need to be stored at -50 or -60 degrees Celsius like the Pfizer vaccine does and I believe it is also cheaper. They probably didn't know about the blood clot issues either when they signed the contracts.

I read somewhere a week or so back that its now been estimated that blood clots are even more likely with the AZ vaccine (something like 5 to 7 times more likely) than was believed just a couple of months ago. I think I read it in our West Australian but I haven't seen any follow up stories in the paper and I also can't find any mention of it online (funny about that).

Anyway, it seems that an increasing number of over 50's now want the Pfizer vaccine instead of AstraZeneca and they're prepared to wait as long as it takes, even until next year to make sure they get it.

the vax is compulsory.
Sooner or later you'll need one just to travel outside your suburb.

We also had a supply problem but it was mainly complacency because covid was really not here.

From what I've been reading the past few days it is quite possible this "wicked Delta Indian variant" may be no more dangerous than the common flu even though it spreads a lot more easily than the original Covid virus.

If that's the case then it will be following 'in the footsteps' of other similar viruses in the past... over time they tend to mutate into less dangerous variants even if they spread more easily (so they can continue to thrive and infect more people rather than kill them which then dooms the virus, of course).

I preferred not to get an mRNA vax.
The AstraZeneca is not mRNA but the Pfizer is.

I have a feeling that within one year we'll all have  to
revisit this again with mRNA vaccines the only choice
to counter the rapidly mutating disease.

I had to take 2 Panadols at 1pm to bring my temperature down.
I just had a meal after not eating for 1 day.
I feel OK now.

I was told to expect a fever and headaches for 2 to 3 days -
it was even circled on the info I was given.

That was the strongest reaction I've ever had from a vaccine.

Just stay inside as to avoid being dosed by chemtrails. Notice there's not as many these days? They don't have to spray you as much any more, they just inject it into you!
