What he says is not wrong.   This is not about battle between freedom or tyranny, or good vs evil.  God vs devil.  It is about the struggles between our specie and the natural world. 

Since the industrial revolution, and scientific advances, we as society have increased our expectation on quality and quantity of life, and nations had build on that for a nations prosperity. 

It is not unusual for humanity to change and adapt to new environment and threats, our ancestor had done the same for hundreds of thousands of years.  If there is a senario where there are new virusus and mutation of pre-existing virus causing similar pandemics, then restrictions will have to return.  This is not a choice, this is survival.
