I'll get straight to the point, and I am constructing a scenario here based on my own experience on the sig matter.

I got banned because some doxxing arsehole dobbed me on my sig.  I was asked to change it on my return after the ban.

But....while I was still banned......my sig disappeared completely.  I did not do it, as I was banned, Setanta said he did not do it.

So, the only conclusion is that some GMod meddled with my account while I was banned.

I guess you changed yours on your return as asked by the GMod who banned you, probably Setanta.  I was denied that chance to change it myself.

The only way they can do that is 'enter' my account profile using their GMod buttons, and change my preferences, which could easily have been my password and not just my sig.

You okay with that?  Just 'yes' or 'no,' and no diatribe.

I am OK with the GMods using the mod tools to change profile text that is clearly in breach of a rule if the member is unwilling or unable to make the change. In your case, clearly the signature needed immediate attention as judged by the GMod or Admin who reviewed it. Maybe it was based on a complaint (someone dobbed you in) and needed to be removed immediately. I cannot recall how bad or non-compliant  your signature was at the time.

Did they change your password, clearly not. Did they enter your account. Clearly not. Did they change your signature by removing. I expect they did. They are responsible for what is visible to the viewers of the forum.

So what. What is your point?

The GMods in my opinion have the right to change public facing information, like signatures, if they cause offense or are deemed to be beyond the rules. Hell forget the rules, if they make a judgment that it is inappropriate, they can remove it.

At no time in this scenario you present did they breach your confidentially, your account or access your private PMs or information.

So you are trying to drag me into your little pissant fight where you haven't a leg to stand on. forget it.

I personally am happy for the GMods to modify, using the admin tools any public facing information they deem inappropriate on my account profile to protect the integrity and readership of the forum. Sometimes I get it wrong. (rarely)

Tell me aussie, in a scenario, I have seen this in the past, where a member includes really offensive text in a signature and they are not arround to change it, the admin, Gmod, should remove it immediately. No breach of security or account is required.

I could be wrong but didn't someone also change monks user name a few months ago? How does one do that without accessing the users account? ::)

I once got a suspension for using Aussie's name in my signature and that same signature was changed while I was suspended.
