Title: British Nuclear tests In Australia and the ozone
Post by Ajax on Oct 3rd, 2020 at 1:54pm
Did the the British Nuclear Tests in Australia damage our atmosphere....?..........and our Ozone layer.......?

I say yes they did.....!

it is well know that nuclear blast reaches the stratosphere and that's were most of our ozone is located.

Over all the British conducted 12 tests in Australia at the following locations,

1. Montebello islands

2. Emu Field

3. Maralinga

Below the strength of these tests can be compared to the Hiroshima bomb.

The British should never have been allowed to nuke Australia.

Ajax, you have to learn to read the whole article otherwise you end up looking like a bit of a nong

from your own link

Quote:
Fires ignited by the exchange of 100 nuclear weapons similar in power to the bomb dropped on Hiroshima during World War II would release millions of metric tons of soot into the atmosphere. That would speed up the pace at which ozone is eliminated in the stratosphere, according to the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

So the ozone would be damaged by soot emitted from resultant fires
Not from the nuclear weapons themselves

Oh deary me, barny barny barny you serious......???

Dude a short course in fluid dynamics.

Get a transparent tube and pumps water through it you might be able to see the water flowing in the tube sometimes with the air bubbles and maybe some foreign matter.

Now add a dye and you can clearly see the flow.

Soooo, whether or not the soot (dye) flows in the nuclear explosion the air blast from the nuclear explosion clearly reaches the ozone layer and disrupts it, the fact is the soot from the fires only makes it worse.

So nuclear testing in Australia -

Maralinga - no fires

Emu Field - No fires

Monte Bello's - no fires.

So would be, could be, wasn't.
