Does anyone know the stats ?
Are we making a big deal about this considering the world is way over populated by a factor of 14 times ?? Just let it rip and achieve herd immunity !! |

https://www.aihw.gov.au/reports/life-expectancy-death/deaths-in-australia/contents/age-at-death In 2018, there were 158,493 deaths registered in Australia. 158,493/ 365 = 434. 434 people die every day in Australia. |

most from cancer, heart disease , diabetes.
the things which arent being treated now that we have the entire health system devoted to a respiratory virus . with chief health officers and premiers in a dick measuring competition for who can be the biggest hero . and a media who want to make cash off all the people stuck at home living in a climate of fear. reprehensible , disgraceful stuff. 1/2 of all chemo patients are not having their correct chemp. breast screening and prostate screening and bowel cancer screening are at 50 %. the leftie intellectual elite are sacrificing people so they can virtue signal about how "you cant put a price on a human life" ::) ::) ::) deplorable |

So for a small number of extra people who die - most of them whom would have died soon anyway - Daniel Andrews has destroyed our economy for 10 years and placed most of us into extreme poverty that will kill more of us in the end. |

We may find that in about 2 years it goes the other way as all the very old and frail people have already died. |

we should at least know how many die in aged care each week in each State....... more than half these figures could be from natural causes..no link to covids at all. |
Title: Re: How many people normally die in Australia ?? Post by aquascoot on Sep 2nd, 2020 at 6:04pm An extra 18,000 people could die from cancer in England due to the coronavirus pandemic delaying diagnoses and treatment, according to a new study. The research, carried out by scientists at University College London and the Health Data Research Hub for Cancer, found the predicted increase could also be a result of social distancing measures, and a reluctance from patients to seek medical attentiion Cancer care in England has faced major disruption during the pandemic with big drops in numbers being seen following urgent referrals by GPs, figures show. The number of people being assessed by a cancer doctor after referral fell to 79,500 in April - a drop of 60% compared to the same month last year. https://www.euronews.com/2020/04/09/fears-cancer-patients-will-miss-out-on-vital-care-amid-covid-19-crisis |

So that is more deaths indirectly as a result of covid-19 We already knew that people were avoiding going to doctors and hospitals to avoid catching the virus The deaths caused by covid-19 both directly and indirectly are vastly under reported |

Screening services are being put on hold
Screening services have been formally ‘paused’ in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and are effectively paused in England as invitations are not currently being sent out from screening hubs. Screening for breast, bowel and cervical cancer can detect the disease before any symptoms show, in the early stages when treatment is more effective. But with around 200,000 people per week no longer being screened for bowel, breast and cervical cancer across the UK, there will be a significant number of early cancers left undetected before these programmes can be reintroduced. he fact that fewer people are going to their GP with symptoms is impacting the whole diagnostic pathway. There’s been a significant drop in the number of ‘urgent referrals’ for cancer, often reported as ‘two-week wait’ figures. Overall, the number of urgent referrals has dropped to around 25% of usual levels in England. This is largely because fewer people are going to their GP, but some GPs are also reluctant to risk sending their patients to the local hospital for fear of COVID-19 infection. But what it means is that for every week that this goes on, over 2,300 cancer cases are likely to be going undiagnosed across the UK – and these will be stacking up over time. we’ve been hearing that patients requiring major surgery aren’t able to have it as either there are no recovery beds with ventilation, no ICU beds if surgery were to go wrong or because the surgery is just too risky for patients and staff. Unfortunately, these issues are heavily affecting those who might benefit from surgery the most, as many ‘curative’ operations are complex. Doctors are concerned that some people with early cancers are having their treatment delayed for 3 months or more, after which time the chances that surgery can be curative become less likely. Chemotherapy and palliative care have also been affected by COVID-19. In some cases this is because the risks were deemed too high, in others because of a lack of staff to provide even some priority therapies |

Not replying to anybody in particular -
When comparing morbidity rates between seasonal flu and Covid19, just remember that there are asymptomatic cases for both virus infections. It is estimated that 75% of seasonal flu cases are asymptomatic compared to about 43% for covid19. In developing countries such as the US or India, most people tend not to seek medical aid unless they are very seriously ill. The cost is prohibitive unless you have health insurance. In both countries for example there is a huge number of people who are blind because they can't afford a simple cataract operation. These operations are routine and publicly available in Australia. Consequently, in those countries there are a lot more cases and deaths that are not attributed to Covid19, whereas in Australia we have a much better idea of how many infections there are. In terms of population, Australia has 10.6 percent of the population of the US. If Australia had a pandemic response similar to that of the US, by this time Australia would have had 681.000 cases of Covid19 (reported) and 20,428 deaths, with a true figure of around 5.2 million people infected, and living with serious after-effects. No country has yet achieved herd immunity, and either way nobody knows how long immunity would last with the virus continually mutating. |

Maybe you want to contribute to bringing the numbers down...?.......nearest bridge mate...........! Australia covid-19 cases...........26207 Deaths...................................748 Death rate..............................2.8542% If we go for herd immunity then Australia's population...............24,990,000 Total deaths............................713264 One thing to think about, If our health system could cope with herd immunity infection rates, hospitalization, ICU and deaths then, Do you think our politicians would have gone with this option...? I say maybe...............!?!?!? The reason for the lock downs is so we don't have people dying while waiting in emergency, then with this frenzied media there would be an outcry in Australia. In the end it maybe that we will all get covid-19 but not at the same time. This virus spreads exponentially, which is bloody fast. |

Good post, but if we went for herd immunity, the death rate would be much higher than 2.85% because around 80% of those affected would not be able to get any medical care, and there would be less availability for non covid patients resulting in more indirect deaths. As you said, the health system would be overwhelmed. |
