Here’s my daughter (y-gen…) listening to Don McClean’s American Pie song… all 8 minutes of it…. Asking me what it all means, do I know?
Actually I never looked it up. So I looked it up and here’s an interesting summing up of it. https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-32196117 . . https://youtu.be/7yHTpGog0IY |

The Twelve of Never, by Johnny Mathis - what a truly beautiful song !
................................ A bit more melancholy, but still beautiful - George Gershwin's 'Summertime' with Angelina Jordan and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK) I think Angelina may have come back from a previous life to sing this once again ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stwF4ti1tbc |

Why is it you feel the need to re-write the history of pop music? Cup of tea or beverage of choice when these guys were gleefully toking on hooch not to mention Mr Leary’s magic medicine. Having lived through that era I get really mad over today's constant attempts to deny and distort its truths. |

I lived through the 70's era and i don't care if they were on drugs, a lot of them were back then. Its very rare i listen to any music at all now days after having the 70's stuff blasting at home, in the car, out somewhere and at work for decades. Occasionally i pay the bux and go along to a symphony orchestra for a music fix. For me Inagaddadavida is one of those ones i can pull out every few years and enjoy with a few beers, and cranked up. If they weren't on drugs they probably wouldn't have created that piece. PS: If i hear Barnsey or Farnsey one more time i will track them down kick their backsides. |

I like the song about When the deep purple falls over sleepy garden walls. The Osmands (I think) sang a rendition of it, but I'd heard it before that somewhere
when I hear it in whatever version, I see it in my mind -- a middle aged woman leaning on a garden wall while children play nearby. A moment of contentment and those in my mind's image are from olden times -- could be 1700s for all I know. I love it |

GUSTAV MAHLER Das Lied von der Erde (Der Abschied) BERNARD HAITINK & ANNA LARSSON
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a27TFT_30x4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Das_Lied_von_der_Erde The sun departs behind the mountains. In all the valleys the evening descends with its shadow, full cooling. O look! Like a silver boat sails the moon in the watery blue heaven. I sense the fine breeze stirring behind the dark pines. The brook sings out clear through the darkness. The flowers pale in the twilight. The earth breathes, in full rest and sleep. All longing now becomes a dream. Weary men traipse homeward to sleep; forgotten happiness and youth to rediscover. The birds roost silent in their branches. The world falls asleep. It blows coolly in the shadows of my pines. I stand here and wait for my friend; I wait to bid him a last farewell. I yearn, my friend, at your side to enjoy the beauty of this evening. Where are you? You leave me long alone! I walk up and down with my lute on paths swelling with soft grass. O beauty! O eternal loving-and-life-bedrunken world! He dismounted and handed him the drink of farewell. He asked him where he would go and why must it be. He spoke, his voice was quiet. Ah my friend, Fortune was not kind to me in this world! Where do I go? I go, I wander in the mountains. I seek peace for my lonely heart. I wander homeward, to my abode! I'll never wander far. Still is my heart, awaiting its hour. The dear earth everywhere blossoms in spring and grows green anew! Everywhere and forever blue is the horizon! Forever ... Forever ... |

Yes she can definitely sing! The video was originally posted on her Instagram, especially for Valentines Day (it has since been removed). I think the audio was done in a studio (possibly from an upcoming release) as for the video she was just messing around in an antique store to add some visuals. Angelina is signed to a major record company, however at present she has a lot of free reign creatively and they don't appear to be strongly pushing her career until she finishes school. To their credit, her family have been very protective of her childhood. That being said she has been laying down killer vocals since she was 7 or 8.
