I know waterlillies are neither cat nor critter but they were in the same folder as the fish movie so why not?

The movie wasn’t a big deal, just showed some fish swimming around waiting for me to sprinkle some fishfood on the water.

Absolutely beautiful. Look forward to seeing the whole fish pond  if you are able to upload any shots.

Have to play around with the film editing software. Plays OK in QuickTime but nowhere else.

I should have some photos, need to find an old disk drive, a laptop having headed south in dramatic fashion.

Ponds are nice. You need a pump with a filter to remove algae from the water, the outlet can be above water level giving a little fountain effect.

To get this back On Topic—I will have to research what fish native to Tasmania could be kept in a pond. No carp!

A catfish as “top predator” may be needed. Apparently the sort that can go in ponds, can’t remember the name now, sorry, is lazy, I was told that before long I could drop food pellets straight into its mouth, even rub its belly  ;D ;D ;D

Just have to site the pond near the gazebo and where it won’t cut down on the Chill Hours a tree needs to come out of dormancy! Fortunately Granny Smith and Stella cherry trees need few chill hours.

Imagine a cherry tree in full blossom reflected in the pond!

Resurrected this thread for Sprint who is planning on a pond with water lillies.

I will have a pond with pump and a “waterfall” created by digging a hole and lining that with a pond liner. Any frogs around can use the pond and swampy areas I will create.

This pond will NOT be just outside my bedroom window!

Water lilies will be part of it and of a fish pond (raised above ground to exclude frogs) closer to the house.

Thinking about a pond for my granddaughters turtles when they grow a bit.

Like some lilies and stuff too. sand area for sunning and digging. Maybe some fish.

Fish makes a pond LIVE! No fish = no interest.

Water lilies are great—they do NOT like currents or the tops of their leaves getting wet.

Some sun is needed to get the best bloom—you will need to consult a bit to work out what is best for your area—morning sun, all day sun etc.

Louisiana swap iris are easy to grow and spectacular!

You can grow water chestnuts in a pond if it is deep enough.

Fish pond water is loaded with nitrates (fish poop) so good for ailing plants.
