Title: Windows 10 Build 2004 Post by Marla on Jun 18th, 2020 at 11:32am
Appears Micro$oft released this last week. Nothing special. Comes with a bunch of garbage you'll most likely never use.

geez win10 is an operating system, not an application. m$ also previously announced nothing new would be coming for windows. they have done a great job maintaining the os even after discontinuing further updates. |

Did a clean install of Windows 10 2004 a couple of weeks back.
Despite reports of widespread issues I haven't had any trouble with it so far with this system: Gigabyte GA-B250M-D3H Motherboard, Intel i5-7600 CPU, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Graphics Card, 1x Samsung 860 EVO 250GB SSD, 1x Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD, Windows 10 Professional 2004 64bit. The only "problem" I've seen so far (and, many others have reported this issue) is that Defragment and Optimize Drives "forgets" that it has been run after a reboot or even after a short period of time without a reboot. Doesn't cause any issues that I'm aware of anyway. Windows 10 2004 is also the first version where I've been able to get rid of all the Microsoft 'bloatware' (Candy Crush, etc.). I stop most of it from installing by not having the PC connected to the Internet during the install then I use the Tools option of CCleaner to remove the rest. Hey, Marla - you'll probably enjoy this. I believe it was made by Microsoft Europe back in the Windows XP days. Microsoft's new "WSYP" (We Share Your Pain) Program https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D28FkfJiauk ;D I'm also waiting to see if my 2 printers "disappear" in Windows 10 2004 after not being turned on for about a week like they did in 1909, the previous Windows 10 version. The drivers and printer utilities were still there and the printers would "reappear" in Settings and the 'old' Control Panel just by turning them on (MS would "helpfully" make Microsoft Print to PDF the default printer again when my 2 printers "disappeared", of course). ::) So far, so good... they're still there as of the time of this post. :) devices.jpg (40 KB | 25

Yep, happens to everyone on 2004. But, apparently the optimization does actually work. Windows 10 just "forgets". ::) Had a bit of fun with this on The Register last week: https://forums.theregister.com/forum/all/2020/06/09/microsoft_roundup/#c_4049481 Great reply by David 132. ;D |

I'm not sure why you are taking that tack. You say MS announced nothing new would be coming for Windows. Then state they have done a great job maintaining it even though according to you they have discontinued updates. If you can't see the illogicality in that I don't know what to say. Anyway, Windows belongs in a VM like this. Screenshot_from_2020-06-19_18-40-07.jpg (238 KB | 21

Every new Window$ Build claims it provides better security when in reality all it does is find better ways of collecting your data.

The current 2020 Windows 10 professional is an excellent operating system compared to the earlier versions.
In actual fact the Windows 10 PC version is actually a cut down version of the big Windows File Server operating system. About the only other operating system that comes close to it is the Ubuntu LINUX operating system which is also a FULL BLOWN File Server as well. The advantage of the Ubuntu LINUX system is that it is virtually free of virus and spyware attacks. Also software is free to download. Great while it is working but can be very difficult to fix if an error occurs. But then so can Windows 10. |
