both the Japanese and Indian govts have said that whilst they are building new plants for coal, as soon as the technology allows, they'll convert the new plants will  hydrogen

Well done.  Yes lee , bush became coal and burns.  Beijing has Aussie smoke. Wuhan Iron and Steel Co , WISCO, uses coal which probably caused chest problems and vulnerability to Corona.

If you have ever driven or flown to visit a relative or go on a holiday - thank oil for that.

If you live on fat and sugar and weigh 324 kg you can thank fat and sugar. A solar-powered airship built by a U.K.-based company could be a big step towards a 100 percent renewable world. Varialift's airship will use helium gas to lift off, which is a great deal safer than the hydrogen that airships of the past used. It's been estimated that the cost of the Varialift aircraft would be comparable to a jumbo jet.

This greener airship would use only 8 percent of the fuel a conventional jet airplane uses.

that sounds great
perhaps you would like to open a thread about it?

your posting is off topic here and warrants it's own thread

› Beautiful Coal and Oil.
sprintcyclist "flown to visit ''

I'm saying it's not beautiful . The oil .  A commentary on the degree of beautiful.  Amount of necessity for oil. Right on topic.

(but sadly opposite opinion to sprintcyclist)

If not for Thomas Edison people would still be burning whale oil for lighting...so keep using 19th C technology....and praise the Lord for  coal and oil...renewables are a blight on the world...<sarcasm

Prior to the setting up of the IWC in 1946, unregulated whaling had depleted a number of whale populations to a significant extent, and several whales species were severely endangered. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) notes that the Atlantic population of gray whales was made extinct around the turn of the eighteenth century.  Whaling and other threats have led to at least five of the 13 great whales being listed as endangered.

Whale oil was renewable until whales were not.

Most of Australia’s energy is generated centrally and relies heavily on traditional energy sources, known sometimes as fossil fuels.

In fact, around 86 percent of our electricity is generated from these fuels types, with 73 percent from coal and 13 percent from natural gas.1 Around the world it’s much the same, with fossil fuels being used for electricity, heating and powering vehicles.

The world relies heavily on coal fired electricity generation because it’s often the cheapest form of generation. It’s also reliable and abundant. That’s what makes it difficult for renewable options, such as wind and solar, to compete in purely financial term..........
