Title: Greens policies kills millions of native animals Post by Yadda on Jan 4th, 2020 at 10:49am Greens policies kills 100's of millions of native animals Greens council 'green' policies are largely responsible for 100's of millions of native animals killed in these fires. Eastern states firestorms [being the result of many, many Greens council ban's on fuel load reduction in rural areas], has killed 100's of millions of native animals - EXPERTS CLAIM 100'S OF MILLIONS HAVE BEEN KILLED. WWW search.... Experts Estimate 480 Million Animals Killed in Australian Fires We get bush-fires every summer. Historically, we have had many, many catastrophic summer bush-fires. And yes, this one will go down as probably the very worst. Thank you Greens. No matter how hot the air is [in summer], a fire can not burn, if it has no fuel. Summer fires can be manageable, with low fuel loads. AND THAT IS WHY FUEL REDUCTION BURNS IN THE OFF-SEASON, SHOULD BE MANDATORY, IN RURAL AUSTRALIA ! Summer fires can be manageable, with low fuel loads. That is why individual landholders are required by law, to ensure there are fire breaks around their property, before summer ! i.e. SO THERE IS NO FUEL TO SPREAD A [POTENTIAL] FIRE, OVER PROPERTY BOUNDARIES. NO FUEL TO BURN = = NO FIRE SPREAD. |

True. But..... Q. Do persons with green sympathies have majorities on many eastern states councils ? Q. Do many eastern states councils [dominated by political LEFTISTS] prohibit and ban [on ideological grounds] fuel load reduction burns within their jurisdictions ? I ask, coz apparently there have been many complaints from eastern states landholders, that many local councils [stacked with 'Sea-change' and 'Tree-change' LEFTISTS] have been doing just that, for many years. |

We need more fire breaks. I've noticed since I moved to the bush that cleared land is bushfire resistant, no trees to burn, no firestorms, just a bit of grass
That doesn't mean we should clear all land, only enough to provide decent clearings to minimize fires jumping across and make it more manageable to fight fires The fire breaks need to be wider than current laws say they've got to be though. If you've ever seen the cleared strips for electricity towers, that's what I mean The less fires and the more isolated they are, the more the animals get a chance to survive |

Christine Finlay has been sounding the alarm on bushfires in Australia for more than a decade after tracking the relationship between reduced cool burning and the frequency of firestorms. And the Queensland-based fire researcher, who charted a century of archival bushfire records for her PhD, has long been screaming danger.
Finlay’s thesis examined problem bushfires between 1881 and 1981. What she found after plotting the historical data on a graph was that there was a marked increase in the size and frequency of fires after 1919. This was when bushfire-reduction operations increasingly moved away from traditional indigenous practices such as low-intensity cool burning. Finlay says this detailed correlation between the accumulation of catastrophic fuel loads and the frequency of extreme bushfires made it possible to forecast the dramatic increase in firestorms we have seen in the 21st century. “For years, I energetically sent this predictive model to government agencies, in particular bushfire services, the media, coronial and parliamentary inquiries and so on,” she says. “Horribly ignored, it proved horribly accurate.” Finlay has the support of forester Vic Jurskis, who has written a book on fire stick ecology and how indigenous Australians managed the landscape with fire. In an open letter to the Prime Minister, premiers, chief ministers and opposition leaders in November, Jurskis said this season’s bushfire situation was neither unprecedented nor unexpected. “This latest holocaust is a direct consequence of unprecedented accumulation of 3D continuous fuels as a result of green influence on politics,” Jurskis says. “It’s all about fuel, not climate.” https://www.theaustralian.com.au/inquirer/firestorms-follow-move-away-from-cool-burning/news-story/9e0b6bc2cee5851d56dbedaafa7ce26e The Greens' policy of locking up national parks is the direct cause of every one of these catastrophic bush fires. Every single one occurs in national parks and spreads to villages and towns on the edge of those parks. |

"Forest fuel levels have worsened over the past 30 years because of "misguided green ideology", vested interests, political failure and mismanagement, creating a massive bushfire threat, a former CSIRO bushfire scientist has warned. Victoria's "failed fire management policy" is an increasing threat to human life, water supplies, property and the forest environment, David Packham said in a submission to the state's Inspector-General for Emergency Management. And he argued that unless the annual fuel reduction burning target, currently at a minimum of 5 per cent of public land, "is doubled or preferably tripled, a massive bushfire disaster will occur. The forest and alpine environment will decay and be damaged possibly beyond repair and homes and people [will be] incinerated." He said forest fuel levels had climbed to their most dangerous level in thousands of years." https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/bushfire-scientist-david-packham-warns-of-huge-blaze-threat-urges-increase-in-fuel-reduction-burns-20150312-14259h.html From 2015 but nothings changed. No surprise that this came from the Murdoch press You do realise that Australia's population in 1919 was just 5 million. The fires weren't as dangerous because there were fewer people. There weren't 5,000 people holidaying at Malacoota for a start. What this paragragh is basicly saying is that prior to 1919 indigenous land practices dominated because there were so few white people. After 1919 European land practices took over because of increasing European population. The Murdoch press have just put there own spin on it. Frank wrote on Jan 5th, 2020 at 12:13pm:

The topic is about native animals The size of the human population has little consequence as to the number and size of bushfires starting naturally But as Frank's post said: "Finlay’s thesis examined problem bushfires between 1881 and 1981. Even 5 million people in 1919 were enough for danger to increase. Aboriginal burn-off methods were ignored apparently |

Black Thursday bushfires
The Black Thursday bushfires were a devastating series of fires that swept the state of Victoria, Australia, on 6 February 1851. Twelve human lives were lost, along with one million sheep, thousands of cattle and countless native animals. "The temperature became torrid, and on the morning of the 6th of February 1851, the air which blew down from the north resembled the breath of a furnace. A fierce wind arose, gathering strength and velocity from hour to hour, until about noon it blew with the violence of a tornado. By some inexplicable means it wrapped the whole country in a sheet of flame — fierce, awful, and irresistible." |

The NSw parks services had already exceeded the amount of backburning planned until the end of 2019. Backburning isat the highest levels in decades
Bradstock says: “In New South Wales, hazard reduction work is governed by policies that are set by coordinating committee chaired by the Rural Fire Service. They bring together all players – with representatives from farmers, environment groups and governments. “Hazard reduction work has increased because of increased funding to the RFS and to national parks. There has been more carried out in recent years than in previous decades.” https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2019/nov/12/is-there-really-a-green-conspiracy-to-stop-bushfire-hazard-reduction so I'll ask again despite no one answering previously, where are these green council in the fire zones that reduced backburning? |

Principles The Greens NSW believe that: 1. As intact natural resources, New South Wales’s current National Parks (NP) and Nature Reserves (NR) and other lands protected under the National Parks & Wildlife (NPW) Act are precious environmental jewels, but they do not protect the full range of biological diversity natural heritage and ecosystem processes; 2. Major additions are required to the parks and conservation system if the network of protected areas is to achieve the survival of significant components of the state's natural heritage and biodiversity. Current land management practices are destroying large tracts of native vegetation and associated habitats for native fauna; 3. A comprehensive conservation assessment process is required to identify all areas that would require reservation and protection in order to meet the objective of a 'comprehensive, adequate and representative' reserve system. Such an assessment must employ proper consultation with Indigenous Australians and other key stakeholders, public participation, and scientifically valid and publicly accepted methodologies; 4. The management of our protected areas is often confused because of the failure to recognise and resolve such competing interests as nature conservation, heritage of Indigenous Australians, historic heritage, and recreation and tourism. The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) should focus its attention on its principal role as a nature conservation agency under the principles of ecologically sustainable development, which will have elements of heritage of Indigenous Australians and historic heritage as well as recreational/tourist opportunities; 5. The rights of Indigenous Australians and their unique role in developing appropriate ecological management systems for National Parks must be recognised. https://greens.org.au/nsw/policies/national-parks-and-wilderness |

Yep great job by the RFS and NPWS. BUt frankly what a surprise Yadda starts a thread like this. I also noticed that the people I know who started this BS online, were the types who would never set foot in a NP in their life, so have no idea about what conditions are like in them |
