Well its a close run between Sad Kangaroo and It_is_the_Light, so far.
Both Members are good Mod choices for Fringe and will do this Section well. Both bring an authentic angle to Fringe in their own way. I wish both members the best of luck. I hope neither chucks a wobbly like Spatchcock did when Brian got Defence Mod nod, if they lose. I hope the winner also doesn't go all wobbly and bans the other just out of spite as both of these Members offer something that makes Fringe an interesting section of discussion. Both Members are neither Trolls in my view. |

Kangaroo & Light are going great guns and are using this with 'adaptability'. This should be an 'OPEN' election where we see the characters of both Nominees as they adapt to the Polling with total awareness. A true test of the ability. This has been the best Vote for Mod run this year. It's even been untainted by Trolls hijacking it. Leave it open - so that we can let the 'final' cast be worked into shape. |

But in Australia, a country that will Refuse Classification to content that is of 2 consenting adults because one might have small breasts and look under 18, even if she's proved her age, that same censor has deemed the Southpark content to be only an M15 + rating, at least the original season 1 episode. I've not kept up with the game that these latest gifs appear to be from. On top on that the owner of this forum has said they won't censor content that is safe for TV here. So if you want to take action, you can report the content to the classification board and request they reclassify it, refusing it classification. Both are things I've given you direct links to do, but you're refusing to do, even creating a conspiracy to justify your inaction and the apparent condoning of the content. The original gif from April 2018 that FD commented on, that was from episode one of Southpark, titled Cartman gets an anal probe and still to this day has an M15+ rating and is still aired on free to air TV as well as Pay TV. While the content is similar, there are the principles of free speech and censorship to contend with in this case. I see many support Light in this. These are the same people who cry bloody murder when they think content they like is being censored like right-wing nut jobs who get de-platformed or demonetised for breaking the rules. Let me be clear, I don't support the content of the gifs, but banning perfectly legal content when those complaining have made no effort what so ever to have the classification of the content changed is a slippery slope. What's next? Do we ban content that is offensive to section mods? I'm sure some will act that way and probably already do and again, those supporting Light on this probably don't care because it's usually in their favour. But what happens when it isn't? Quote:

So forgive me if Light's faux outrage to perpetuate his justification to attack other posters here, claiming they support the sexual abuse of children when he has no idea the lengths that some posters may have gone to in the very fight against that doesn't make me take his triggered snowflake reaction over Southpark seriously. To avoid this topic altogether I wouldn't allow the content from the game to be posted here but would come down hard on those exploiting the issue for their personal gain. I know Light will have a problem with that, hence him reaching out for support from all these posters who I've rarely if ever, seen in the Fringe before now. |

I also dont think Lights outrage is faux. I disagree with your notion that Light needs to report this to the the classification board. Does he need to do this to prove a point? I don't think so. We can all have a point of view here without taking particular steps outside of this site to satisfy any argument or point of view for that matter. I find the South Park show absolutely disgusting and refuse to watch it. The sarcasm and the particular, very cruel sense of humor is extremely disappointing. And yet many people do watch and enjoy it. I feel sad for those who have been so desensitized that they can laugh at this type of imagery. Just because it is on TV doesn't make it right.... There are also limitless shows about murders with gory, graphic pictures of dead bodies and continuous violence. Are you going to argue that it's ok to post pictures of dead body parts for example, because it's on TV? wow... Just as an update as this was posted in another thread, thanks to PZ for taking the time to read and post some thoughtful replies, I have had a change of heart on the matter and would indeed remove all the instances of the Southpark gifs if I were mod, as well as continued false claims about other posters supporting the sexual abuse of children.
Light, you got your answer after all, as a freebie without having to do anything in return. Well done. If you want to still answer the question I've been waiting patiently for an answer for please, be my guest, but it's not that important anymore as I believe the issue is moot now that the gif and those posts exploiting it by attacking other members would be removed if I were a mod, has now been made clear. But to satiate my curiosity, I'd still love an answer :) |

For what it's worth, like him or hate him Light is the epitome of FRINGE and has made 99.9% of the topics here. He keeps it going and attracts the traffic so, in my view, he deserves to have Fringe more than anyone else as he has worked hard in Fringe and has contributed more than any other poster here. He has a devoted and actual interest in FRINGE. I don't know Sad Kangaroo but his heart doesn't appear to be in Fringe, the forum, as such so I doubt he wants to run it to keep it going and to thrive. Fight amongst yourselves, it's all everybody does here now, but think of the forum rather than having emotional knee jerk reactions. Tosses a peanut up to the peanut gallery for the obsessed stalking monkey and shuts the door. :D |

Well I think a new Mod Poll needs to be called
with nominees drawn from those who have an actual interest in fringe theories and topics someone open-minded, for a start What are fringe type topics? The paranormal, obviously. Ghosts. Precognition. Synchronicities. Ancient lore that people are still experiencing today. Poltergeists. Mediumship. etc NO politics you know, fringe subjects in people's own words with a minimum insertion of videos unless they are relevant Anyone visited other forums' fringe threads? They contain topics and threads which attract readers and participants Can Ozpol support a fringe sub? If not, get rid of it |

I think in the beginning, especially when Light was in the lead, the poll when it had 10-ish votes was more representative of the Fringe, but since then it seems to have morphed into a greater political left vs right, liberal vs conservative, establishment vs fakenews forum-wide debate.
One thing I don't really understand is the notion that the content posted in the Fringe would change much based on the mod. My idea of modding the subforum was more about enforcing the rules and keeping the peace, not content moderation, at least not in the extreme some people are worried about. But then, I'm only looking at it through my own eyes. I don't know what Light would/will do as Mod. I know he's got a shortlist of people he intends to ban. In that vein, should I win, I would like to see a break down of who voted for what so at least Light and everyone else can see what happened. Should Light win, I don't know if revealing the voting would be a good idea. I'll be happy to accept the result no matter what it is, but I'd be uneasy giving Light a list of people he can ban outright. That said, that list is likely going to be people that unlike him and I, they don't really post here to begin with, so it doesn't really matter. Maybe openness no matter who the winner would be best. We'll leave it to the Mods to decide. |

Interesting discussions ! The mod of Fringe should be someone with an interest in the topics in Fringe, imo. Someone who can attract members to Fringe and keep their interest, keep them coming back One in three people have experienced what we lump under the umbrella of 'paranormal' so it's not normal that so few members participate in Fringe unless OzPol members are spiritually ded So maybe run the poll again and see what shakes out as far as nominees go Jasin has an interest in the odd and unusual -- why didn't he nominate? Cods appears to me to be someone who's experienced her share of 'paranormal' events, so shame Cods didn't put up her hand Grappler too … he's lived a life Ajax has a tale or two to tell, for sure Business is slow. Fringe needs a reboot to make it worthy of the name |
