Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee caused a wave of leftist outrage after floating the possibility that President Donald Trump is eligible for a third term.

Seeing that there was a now proven ongoing coup attempt for the first 3 years of his Presidency. This creates a caveat in the constitution allowing the President to run for a third term. If he/she decides to. The constitution strictly forbids coup attempts as it thwarts the will of the people and thus allows another term. Look it up! the Dems have been deleterious and have ignored the proper functioning of an opposition.

Correct, & Constitutionally since 1951, the only way anyone could possibly serve more than 2 years as President of the United States is if he was say Vice-President, or another in the line of succession, who had to assume the title of US President due to an unfortunate event, they would serve out the remainder of the replaced President's term, & thereafter be able to Constitutionally serve two 4 year terms as a duly elected President in their own right.  ;)

No problem......Since 1845, in the USA there is an Election Day every year on the first Tuesday in November. Every 4th Election Day, there is a National Presidential Election on that day as well as the yearly local elections.

An election was also held during the American Civil War. As far as I know, this was the first time in history such a thing occurred.

That occurred before the Twenty-second Amendment to the United States Constitution was enacted, Bobby.   There was no legal requirement that prevented him serving for more than two terms.  ::)
