Title: storage space on android phone
Post by freediver on Nov 16th, 2019 at 3:07pm
I have an old android phone that supposedly has 8GB of data on it. I can't figure out what is using it all. The latest version of treesize free will scan MTP devices, but it only sees about 100 MB of storage. I tried the google files app, which tells me I am using 7.5 of 8GB, but that's where it stops being useful. Is there a way to see what is using all the space?

Freediver & Yadda just exhibited the use of their Right and Left hemisphere's of their brains (the gap is narrower in women, hence why they are 'faster' thinkers) respectively.

Now - can we see Freediver use his Left and Yadda use his Right?? :D :D

I think under your App Manager it will give what app is using what space.

I stop and delete many of my apps.

APPS are indeed a 'window of opportunity' because in reality, Apps are like leaving your windows open in your house where you are home or not - and inviting your home to be ransacked, even the safe under the loose floorboard is gone.
I NEVER do Apps. Sick of waiting in line at a bank because another person is asking why $15,000 has been taken from their account by this unknown entity that broke in during broad daylight without a gun?

I don't know what version you are running but go to settings->device maintenance->storage.

Give more info if that doesn't work. I have found saved to watch later Netflix files don't go away. It's worth the few bucks to get FX licenced to be able to look after file management and network(smb, ftp, etc) connections to move stuff.

Thanks Set, I was just going to add to look under 'settings'.

I've done that. There is nothing obvious there. The memory allocated to the apps does not appear to add up. I have a few around the 100MB size. I have also checked files. Nothing big in there I could find. Of course, not having a top down view of where the memory is used makes it difficult. I don't want to spend hours manually doing what something like treesizefree can do in seconds.

Did you find the 'storage' area?
