Title: Killer whales feed the tourists off NSW Post by xeej on Oct 19th, 2019 at 9:00pm
Whale watchers off the coast of Ballina in northern New South Wales have held a front-row seat to the gruesome spectacle of a juvenile humpback whale being devoured by a pod of killer whales.
The attack happened just 2 kilometres off the breakwall at Ballina, as the local whale-watching charter was running its Saturday morning tour. Skipper Dean Fuchs said it was one of the most amazing sights he had ever seen out on the ocean. Mr Fuchs said a mother humpback whale, a calf and a male escort humpback whale were frolicking in the calm conditions when a pod of about 30 orcas emerged. The orcas managed to separate the calf from the adult humpbacks before drowning and devouring it. Mr Fuchs said the killer whales then surrounded the tour boat for more than two hours and seemed to be celebrating their kill by bringing a bit of blubber over to the boat. They are our friends, lucky for that. ![]() |

It's been a bit of a story around here. I live in Lismore, not far from Ballina. It's been cool watching the too and fro. Poor baby humpback, orcas gotta eat and are doing their thing, tears and understanding of how nature works. Sucks for the baby and it's mum, orcas get what they need and ma Humpback loses a child. The Orcas held the baby under water till it drowned is what I have got from it. Edit: It's funny that people can't accept man is the same. |

Orcas are top of the food chain in the ocean.
Even great whites skedaddle when orcas are around. Saw one doco where a female orca killed a great white and only ate its liver, like a delicacy. About eating humans never heard of it happening but they do eat seals and porpoise. |

You're right. They are not Fish, nor are they 'Whales'.
Eden 'was' famous for them long ago. But alas, besides the Aboriginals there luring them in by deception of playing an old, lame man to arouse their sympathy to bring in food for them. A blow in also 'stabbed' one of them in front of the Pod, when it was beached when they tried to call for 'help'. They all left, except one old Orca (Tom) and then 'Strike 3' - a Dutch man took over the Whaling Station and refused to give Tom the tongue and Tom died from starvation and betrayal. For an 'animal' (being?) to freely give their time and effort to us without domestication - we have let them down considerably. They don't return to Eden and the Museum is just a relic of the past. Maybe if Old Grapplar returns to Eden, they might come back? :D Personally, i see the Orca (if they survive Humanity and its destruction of the world) as the best bet of 'Life' (GAEA) going out into the Stars, more than Humanity. They have more potential brain wise than we have and probably are just in 'lavae' stage of evolution. Who knows? So far, we don't deserve to inherit the Stars and thus only 'machines' make it out there. Maybe an Android/Orca hybrid is the way to go. I doubt Humanity as we are, can make it. |

I remember reading somewhere (probably a fisherman's tale) where the Killers would work with man and herd whales into a bay at a certain time of the year, then man would kill the whales and they would share in the catch, and so a bond was forged, but then dolphins don't eat us either, word of mouth maybe.
They are the fiercest creature on earth, not individually but as a group or pod in this case. |

Lung breathers[edit] Lungfish (Dipnoi): Six species, have limb like fins, and can breathe air. Some are obligate air breathers, meaning they will drown if not given access to breathe air. Some species will bury in the mud when the body of water they live in dries up, surviving up to two years until water returns. Bichir (Polypteridae):12 species, are the only ray-finned fish to retain lungs. They are facultative air-breathers, requiring access to surface air to breathe in poorly oxygenated water.[1] Various other "lunged" fish: now extinct, a few of this group were ancestors of the stem tetrapods that led to all tetrapods: Lissamphibia, sauropsids and mammals. there's 18 species for fish with lungs. And then there's a load of Gill or skin breathers. 1 or 2 species??? ;D ;D ;D And mammals don't generally live in the sea. So? |

Grey Nurse Sharks give birth to live young, some of which eat their younger siblings inside the womb for a 'warm up' to popping out into the most predatorial world - the sea.
Orca know not to kill Humans, because they know we are dangerous. They did in the past, especially during the Whaling Era of Old Nantucket days. Orca would 'attack' the Boats (Not Ships) of Whalers as if they knew they were a threat... back then. But 80ft Sperm Whale Bulls (especially a famous 'real' White one ;)) and other Whale species Bulls would ram Ships and intentionally defend themselves against the beast known as Man. Orca (Dolphins) will attack Whale 'kiddies' like Indian Men attack kiddies. Orca do it for food. Indian Men and South African Witch Doctors attack kiddies for sinister pleasure. Orca have brains like us, but they also have 'more' than just what we have. We have hands, but we don't have fins. I would have a better chance of fighting off a Great White Shark underwater, than an Orca. Atm - Orca are also hunted by over-populated nations (like Mexico) as they are seen as 'Thieves' who steal the ever-depleting fish from fishermen. ::) Humanity are much like Aliens in our Evil will to Survive. ![]() |

That would have been awesome to see. I've never seen one in the flesh.
Orcas don't eat us because they are very intelligent. They know we are not food. Our bone structure is to dense for the amount of meat. We would be like spare ribs to them. 🤣 What about disease? I swear that dolphins can sense a sick person. I've seen it happen. So perhaps they can sense the diseases in humans. Similar to how we learnt not to eat big pelagics due to ciguatera. Perhaps they have learnt that we are disease carriers. Humans are ciguatera to orcas. Also...they're very intelligent. Perhaps they've seen the hysterics that humans go into when a shark attacks one of us. Humans comb the ocean and slaughter "any" suspect sharks. Orcas are just keeping their nose clean. |

A story: I was surfing a remote beach in SA when a big pod of dolphins arrived, about 20 of them, they all took off on every wave that I took off on and turned in exact sync as my turns, they even poked their heads out of the water and eyeballed me, they always look like they are smiling, when I came in another surfer who had just arrived said he saw a pointer out the back, I think they saved me that day. that wasn't the only time I think they saved me.
I'm glad these beasts and their killer whale cousins don't rape and eat us. |
Title: Re: Killer whales feed the tourists off NSW Post by .JaSin. on Oct 21st, 2019 at 5:43pm
All bloody good posts there, especially Capt Caveman. 8-)
Yes - Dolphins 'RAPE'. Up around Ningaloo, the male Common Dolphins are known to 'Gang Rape' with two or more males keeping a female tightly coral'd and taken turns often to rape her. Why fight over her, when you can 'share' her (Win/Win). ;) All those violent Lefties you see taking over the World, they all follow the Way of the Dolphin. They can sense our illness, sickness because they can sense our 'weaknesses'. They see a flaw in us, that we cannot most of the time. Dolphins gill-kill Sharks. An Orca in the Great White Bight of Australia was leading his Pod like a good leader and like a good Protector. He somehow knew a Great White Shark of some size (est 5m'ish+) was tailing his Pod, at a far distance back - but closing in. So down 'Alpha' dived and it wasn't long before the Great White Shark was smashed from below by the open jaw of Alpha the Orca and sent up out of the water from the force of the impact. Alpha had beaten the Great White Shark at its own predatory tactic and with more power! He was able to do this, along with his own natural ability, by having 'observed' the Great White Sharks in action... ...just like they 'watched' a New Zealand Spearo dive down a fair depth and lurk in the Kelp to await a Snapper move towards his shiny spear-tip lure. A Snapper did approach, then did something unexpected. It hesitated in its usual approach by habit of its species. The Spearo was a bit stunned in seeing this and then watched the Snapper dart back off. He rose to the surface for a few breaths then dived down again to try and lure that Snapper into range. Laying among the Kelp, again the Snapper approached him and again the same reaction. :-? Again the Spearo surfaced frustrated now. Once more he dived down. He was going to get it this time. But amazingly the Snapper approached, paused and darted back away a third time. Then the hairs on the back of his neck rose like the plates of a Stegosaurus. He turned slowly and there - right behind him was a massive Orca! :o It was watching him 'hunt' and had been the cause of the Snapper's unusual behaviour. You see, the Orca and Dolpins are 'watching us'. We search for someone out among the Stars who maybe watching us, listening to us and yet we have that 'someone' watching us from within our own world. Was that Orca 'using' that Snapper to ...lure the Spearo? :o :-? ...they are watching us (and more). |

Yes.
Tellikum was 'punished' if he didn't do what he was instructed to do, properly or better. He was not fed a fish. Then one fateful day - the female trainer, with her long pony-tail hair forgot to give him a fish, when he had performed his trick perfectly (in his mind? :-?). She turned her back on him as well, just like when he is punished. He leaped up at her from the water and grabbed her by the slim pony-tail of all things and dragged her completely off her feet and into the water to drown her. When you imprison them from a world where they have plenty to eat and hunt (or used to) and only see 'You' (Humans) as the only 'source' of food in their captive existence (Slave?) - they will eventually 'Hunt' YOU. They can work us out. They can see more of ourselves - than we see of ourselves. They have more adaptions of the brain than us. They know something, we don't. |

They have been watching us 'Destroy Ourselves' and they have learned and they too 'Destroy Themselves' as the Orca kills another Dolphin 'race', let alone a Whale 'race'. Orca are even killing themselves and as they do, they learn the behaviour of their enemy's hunting tactic and skill and incorporate it into their new tactic to beat the enemy at its own game. They are Evolving, We Humans are not. We are becoming 'Slaves' to the Creation of the 'Android' in our own image, with its Positronic Brain and Cyber Mind.

They are majestic creatures with power and intellect but they are still wild animals not cuddle pets.
If you haven't seen the doco black fish I highly recommend it. It forced sea world in US to stop hunting and capturing orcas for their shows, the current crop are the last ones to be displayed in public shows. Placing an orca in big swimming pool is like us humans living in a bath tub it would be hard to remain normal. One particular pod of orcas kills great whites to only eat it liver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqIq3-ExRhchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAaHUg0wSzo |

Yes. It's especially interesting to see our all the different Orca Pods all have their own unique specialty to what they eat, how they hunt and what they do beyond just attaining food.
What freaks me out a bit is how they learn about us, how we behave - and they 'think' upon that and sometimes replicate it in their own way. |

I've just started a religion which worships orcas and I don't want any Australians to look at them.
Please respect my religious beliefs. |

Fair enough. Like Trade Marks though. You have just 4 years to make something constructive and beneficial to the world with your 'ownership' via Religion, with them. |

The Killers are stalking us, we had better keep on the right side of them.

If I was diving and a Great White wanted to have a go at me.
I have a good chance of scaring it off as its behaviour is 'predictable'. If I had an Orca want to go me, then I have no chance - because it would attack in a way that suited the situation. It would 'work me out' easily. Orca are more than just animals. |

Great Whites only attack when they are sure you can't see them or are not looking, like most sharks. Or you are on the 'vulnerable' surface. If I see a Shark, I descend to make them feel more vulnerable. |

Mick Fanning knew what to do when a great white swam up behind him, punch him in the gills. ![]() |

Yep. Gills, Eyes or even just the Nose.
I would also suggest - if you but also 'turn the shark over', that might also help ;) |

I have an early warning great white detection unit inbuilt, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when they are within 200 meters of me. |
