Title: It begins - Amazon orders 100,000 Rivians

Assuming the order is finalised, I think given the size of the purchase this will mark the turning point when electric vehicle purchases gained greater momentum towards overtaking sales of IC and Diesel vehicles under 3.5 tonnes:

Hi Nail,
I heard that on the radio.
No more Mercedes money put into petrol cars -
only into electric cars.
Just plug them in at home and off you drive.
No more petrol stations -
no need to worry about oil wars in the Middle East.

Yes and which country missed out on the golden opportunity to participate in this ? There could have been lots of REAL jobs created building and designing electric vehicles here along with the charging infrastructure as opposed to scumos make believe job prospects  :(

The big companies decided the agenda not the Govts.
In Australia we follow - we never lead.

The delusional impractical gullible Greenies are waving their raised arms from side to side as they absorb the Greeny Propaganda Hillsong Indoctrination show.

In the mean time, canny aware Australians don't want a bar of the useless dangerous unsafe pollution spewing very inconvenient electric toy "cars".

This should get the loony Greeny drongohs down and out from their trees.

Reality will set in when these toys overload the power system and they are hit with new road taxes and increased power prices.

And having a few of the lithium fire bomb batteries explode and emit clouds of poisonous gas will help a bit.

Another nail in the hydrogen car coffin.

Plenty of Australians already own EVs and charge points are springing up everywhere.

Clean, silent transport, who would not want it?

Some gearheads maybe stick with ICE—until they find out how fast EVs can accelerate!

Julia, I work at a coal fire power station and I doubt that renewables are going to be able to provide all of the demand EV's will require. Coal is still going to have its place if EV demand really takes off.

As for infrastructure, you're going to have to build it anyway regardless of whether you go down the EV or H2 path. The end result is eliminating our reliance on imported oil to run our vehicles.

Mini, you are a voice of intelligent reason amongst the uninformed gullible Greeny rabble who don't know what day it is.

We cannot keep on burning coal. Renewables are in their infancy and offshore wind farms provide a lot more consistent power. Solar panels too just got a jump in efficiency and output and can produce power even on cloudy days.

I would be happy to have some nuclear in the mix, especially for industry.
