Whether we like it or not, often the US sets the example in many ways, from entertainment, technology, fashion, democracy and freedom.

When you have someone in power like Trump, acting like a strongman dictator lite, trying to ignore court ruling and treating his military like his own play thing when he's shown them nothing but disrespect when dodging the draft, that does have a flow on effect, even even reaches us here in Australia. 

Look at the resurgence of inward nationalists policy that will actually hurt the country that has regain broad community support.

Nothing better than a misinformed people thinking they know it all, they're ripe for exploitation.
