You will have to teach those subsistence farmers who burn, crop and move on that their way of life is not sustainable. That they should quietly go the way of the dodo.

That's EXACTLY how the nirvana logical fallacy works.
You will claim some pedantic error and then assume that this discredit's the whole study. It is the classic MO of the climate denialists.
In reality any variance in the assumptions will make a variance in the outcome. Species are still going extinct, your semantic arguments won't stop this.

No petal. The output will only be true if all the assumptions (parameters) are true. Unless you get the assumptions so wrong that you get the right answer but for the wrong reason.

And there are likely a multitude of assumptions in the model.
