Title: Cyberspace Domestic Violence
Post by cods on Mar 2nd, 2019 at 7:51am
[urlhttps://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/truecrimeaustralia/domestic-violence-victims-hunted-by-smartphone-stalkerware/news-story/caa05d870b7eef54fdd97d2a5bcbff43][/url]

Women fleeing domestic abuse are being stalked by their partners through evolving spy and “stalkerware” apps in what authorities have warned is a worrying misuse of technology that makes escape virtually impossible.

Seemingly innocuous software such as Gmail, Find My Friends, Facebook, Life360, Snapchat and employee monitoring apps are now being widely misused for stalking ex-partners.

Smartphone technology has also given domestic violence perpetrators a cutting-edge toolbox with to stalk and kept under surveillance by cheaply available purpose-built spy apps and stalkerware specifically designed to catch a cheating spouse or wayward child.

These apps run without noticeable detection signs and allow abusers to access their target’s geolocation, intercept text messages and emails, record sound and video and live-hack the phone camera and photographs.

Policing of the technology falls to state-based police under stalking and harassment legislation but frontline officers according to domestic violence experts claim they are failing to recognise the seriousness of technology-based offences.

“Police sometimes don’t have the resources or expertise to follow up on some of these forms of violence,” said Emily Maguire, CEO of Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria. “It’s more difficult to police because it’s harder to detect.”

The Australian Federal Police said the matter was not under their carriage and referred to the Australian Cyber Security Centre, which could not offer comment but pointed to generic online brochures about staying safe online.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority said they did not have any relevant information but referred to the Office of the eSafety Commissioner, which said that although these apps are not regulated, they addressed the issue through workshops with frontline domestic violence workers and online resources.

Karen Bentley, National Director of the SafetyNet Australia program for WESNET, which examines the intersection between technology and domestic violence and provides “clean” replacement phones to victims, said surveilling a victim was quite difficult before smartphones.

“You’d have to buy a device from a spyware shop and magnetically stick it on the bottom of something and you’d have to go back and get it and recharge it and download the data onto computer whereas now with the GPS in the smart phone it’s a lot easier now — there’s all sorts of amazing apps that help us keep track of our loved ones and our belongings but you’re always going to have bad actors.”

Until recently, spyware applications could be installed on a victim’s phone within about 15 minutes if the abuser had physical access to the phone — most often while the victim slept — but the phone would need to be “rooted” or “jailbroken” to allow apps blocked by the app store to be installed.
However, last year spy apps emerged that are able to be installed remotely, without sp@ming the phone, provided perpetrators know a victim’s Apple ID and password.

After fleeing her abuser in July, 2018, single mother Amber (last name withheld) suffers from severe anxiety, PTSD symptoms and intense paranoia due to tech-facilitated violence which began during an 18 month relationship.

After an explosive argument one day, Amber was at her mother’s house and googled “narcissist” on her phone. Within seconds, her partner texted her a screen grab showing her conducting the internet search.

“Nice,” he wrote.
Her abuser was able to read her emails, hack her passwords, install a hidden keystroke app on her computer which would send him data records of every key pressed, and stalked her whereabouts using her phone’s location sharing settings.

During her sleep one night he used a program to retrieve all deleted photographs, text messages and call records from her smartphone.

When he discovered messages from a male friend, he doused Amber and the house in acetone and threatened to set her alight.

“He said there’s a backdoor to everything if you know what you’re doing,” said Amber.

how do we fight this?

Better still - stop the war on men and resolve properly the real issues surrounding family violence and family destruction ... make those intent on destroying families responsible for their actions...

Seriously -how many 'offenders' - a malleable term meaning anything at all - are actually doing this kind of thing?

I call BS....

This is indeed a very real problem. And contrary to a previous suggestion, just changing your gear isn't always effective; friends, family and workplaces and colleagues are also stalked to get information on the target.

And as is the way with cyber-crime, the laws and prevention strategies are light years behind.

And, despite the protestations from the peanut gallery, this is surprisingly common.

An important point i think requires highlighting is that it is not just women who are falling afoul of such nefariousness. Men are also sometimes on the receiving end. I truly think we need to stop perpetuating the myth that this is all a one way street and break down the stigma surrounding male victims. This is one of the reasons for calling it family violence over domestic violence.

That's just not true.

A useful metaphor often used to describe this situation is the frog in the pot of water, being slowly brought up to the boil. The frog doesn't recognise it's danger until it's in a very bad way.

The psychological manipulations that go into family violence cannot be underestimated. There are personal, interpersonal and societal influences.

While i appreciate the gist of your argument, that it would be prudent if we were educated in what to look for, unfortunately it's more often than not, not that simple.

Furthermore, it succeeds only in applying shame to the victims.

You'd be very surpriised how many well educated, autonomous people end on on the pointy end of family violence. Professional people working in the field even.

It is insidious.

No figures, huh?

By George, Pickering - I do believe she's got it!  Now all that needs to be done is for it to be handled as family violence and not the sadly abused and one-sided 'domestic violence'.. and the full facts addressed in each issue before violence by the state is even contemplated.  There would be far fewer casualties on all sides if a realistic and factual approach was taken.....

Once this is set in place properly - all the government needs to do is apologise to and compensate all the real victims..

OOOH?  I've always been attacked for simply asking for a reasoned and even approach rather than the arrival loaded for bear and ready to bash a 'basher' nonsense that has caused so much harm to so many .......

Start with fixing the 'definitions' of violence etc... a good place to start.... long way to go back before we can go forward.... looooong way... and a lot of apologising and restitution from government required as well as punishment of falsehood perpetrators...

A Sydney man has been sentenced to jail after he emailed his ex-girlfriend a picture of his bloodied genitalia and sent naked photos of her to his other ex-girlfriend.

Zane Alchin, 28, was at the centre of a tumultuous love triangle between former friends when he sent graphic images of his ex-girlfriend HL’s genitalia to his other ex-girlfriend RM via Instagram on December 29 last year.

At the time Alchin was serving an intensive corrections order for slashing up RM’s lingerie worth more than $2000, smashing her phone and snapping her iPad in half in a jealous rage when they briefly reunited in May 2018 after he and HL broke up in February 2018.

He was also forbidden to contact HL after he was convicted of damaging her car when their relationship ended.

On December 29 HL received an Instagram direct message from RM saying ‘I thought you had the right to know Zane’s been sending me photos of you’,” police facts stated.

“I’m not trying to start anything, it just pisses me off and you have the right to know.”

RM sent HL screenshots of Alchin’s messages which included a picture of HL’s face with her arm covering her breasts, and another one depicting her vagina and buttocks.

Alchin at court in 2015.
Alchin, who has been on remand since January, pleaded guilty to contravening the apprehended violence order protecting HL and distributing an intimate image without consent.

Sutherland Local Court Magistrate Philip Stewart sentenced Alchin to seven months’ imprisonment on both charges.

The Caringbah man will be eligible for parole on April 30.

Alchin and HL had spent time together in the weeks before their relationship deteriorated again but HL had cut off contact when Alchin sent her dozens of emails between November 11 and December 29.

“On November 15 the victim received 15 emails between 7am and 9.30pm,” police facts stated.

“One of the emails said ‘Do you want sit on my dick tonight?’

“The victim replied, ‘bugger off’.

ITS QUICK ITS INSTANT   ITS UNFORGIVABLE..

you are the one that turns every DV subject into a HIM v HER...

shouting screaming is also violent...punching holes in walls...is violent... threatening someones life  is violent..making someone sick with fear is violent.

While it's true that family violence affects men also, the stakes tend to be much higher for women.

The reasons for this are firstly because of men's tendency to greater physical strength  ... another reason is the same as why while suicide attempts are more common among women than men, success rates are lower. This is because men tend to use more instantly fatal measures.

More 'violent' .... if i can get away with saying that.

I'm afraid you have it backwards, Aussie - the entire issue has been ambushed for over 25 years now and forced onto a field totally controlled by those who favour the women's side.

How is that 'my' personal issue?  It is an issue that covers every citizen.....

Let us recoup:-

1. these 'laws were set up with zero consultation with men.
2.  at no time have men held equal seating at any ongoing or further discussion of these issues and these 'laws'.
3. women and their running dogs are permitted to complain and protest every day - men are abused and insulted when they do so.
4. from the outset, women were handed free legal assistance to cater to ANY whim - men had to pay to defend in a biased and stacked 'court' that did not abide by Law.
5.  No evidence contrary to the woman concerned was entertained - she could have a lengthy history of psychiatric illness and it would still not be permitted in evidence.
6. self-interest groups - primarily 'feminists' - actively worked to extend and extend the 'definition' of 'violence against women' so that it has now come to mean anything that may upset any woman.  Again no evidence to the contrary is permitted.
7. now we have a move afoot - and a move only it is - to 'include' assaulted men - but only on the same playing field as already owned by women.
8.  this does not ever in any way discuss the very real violence, abuse, and rape of civil and legal rights suffered by far too many men over those 25+ years
9. the effect of this selfish feminist insanity is most seen on children - men's children
10. the direct approach of using violence as the first port of call in attending any 'domestic violence' issue - without any attempt to collect facts and behave fairly and reasonably - is THE main cause of violence in such matters.
11. the secondary abuse and violence of the illegal imposition by a 'court' of one-sided and fact-free restraints on ONE side, regardless of facts and guilt, flies in the face of human nature and its craving for fair play, and is itself the greatest cause of violence while being violence in itself.
12. many women 'running from domestic violence' are in fact running from their own guilt over what they've done and are feeling rightfully fearful of retaliation for having violated and had violated someone else.  It is also convenient to claim 'violence' in seeking somewhere to stay and get something for nothing in separation proceedings - where the same or even greater bias prevails.
13. I've said time and again that no resolution to 'apprehension of even continued contact' by using the institutionalised violence of police and  courts will ever resolve violence - for the simple reason that it IS violence.
`14. holding out an olive branch of saying that genuinely abused men should now be treated equally does not resolve the institutionalised violence against men first and foremost, and in no way removes or resolves the reality that the current approach is itself violence and is the cause of escalating violence on all sides.

“Let her [Truth] and Falsehood grapple; who ever knew Truth put to the worse in a free and open encounter? Her confuting is the best and surest suppressing.”

― John Milton, Areopagitica

"Power always thinks it has a great soul and vast views beyond the comprehension of the weak, and that it is doing God's service when it is violating all His laws."

John Adams.

Who in his right mind would hand a retard or a mad feminist a loaded gun?

“The use of force is a last resort. One aspect of violence is that it is unpredictable. Although your initial intention may be to use limited force, once you have engaged in violence the consequences are unpredictable. Violence always brings about unexpected results and almost always provokes retaliation.”
- Dalai Lama

Using force and violence to resolve apprehension of force and violence will never work, it will instead escalate violence and force.

Most of the www crap wouldn't even exist if these matters were handled like adults and not to satsify some childish 'feeling' of a woman.

Countless men also cop that.. as Mothra says - but the facts is that the entire background of violence has been laid down using the women's side, and then men are oh so kindly placed on the same table - but ONLY if they are violently and viciously abused and injured.

This overlooks that the table is itself flawed and is actively promotes the now-established one-way violence.

Get back to me when men get equal seating at the next conference on how to handle family violence.... until then you've got nothing but a flimsy offer of a ceasefire in place - meaning that men will still have to abide by women's and feminist's rules to even be heard.

Title: Re: Cyberspace Domestic Violence

It's not gender neutral and never has been.

Let's try this:-

If you read and saw a Darkest African nation with two tribes in it, and one tribe was handed by the government the 'right' to have legal proceedings instituted against the other tribe for any reason, and the government's police then expanded that into a 'right' to directly attack the tribe members accused, and the courts of that nation took action against any accused from that tribe regardless of any and all facts......

Would not you be marching in the streets and protesting about civil rights abuse?

Would not the United Nations be condemning such actions?

Would not the International Court(s) outlaw such violent discrimination and label it a crime against humanity?

Why then do you permit, condone and encourage this exact thing occurring here between the Men Tribe and the Women Tribe?  And then consider that so kindly permitting a few token men who can show genuine scars etc to have a say on a closed playing field is actually addressing the issues?

Round table conference - equal footing and all interest groups represented - for once in over 25 years....

Can't discuss the issues without clearing the problems with the way discussion is permitted..... with one side making all the rules and the other being treated as tokens, if even permitted to speak.

It's all part of FAMILY violence.... treat it as such and deal with it as such on facts, for once.  Start by not using the term 'domestic violence' - it has become far too discredited for any intelligent person to use...

Try 'relationship violence' - approach it from all sides based on fact.

And then clearly define violence - not just:- "Oh, I might feel that he's interested in me and he might ring me.. so can you get the court to slap him with the violence of an unwarranted dictate to not do something he may never do anyway and tell him if he rings to demand an explanation he'll be arrested and criminalised?"  or... "He wouldn't give me the credit card when I wanted to go out, since he reckoned we couldn't afford it."  FFS....

Try working with VIOLENCE and then we can begin to talk.  Until then the demand must remain - remove your troops and make restitution ... no ceasefire in place that permits you to hold on to all the territory you've grabbed by violence.

Back to square one - and we'll start again on a level playing field.

It's not me continuing this war - it's the feminists and their running dogs..... and it is they causing all the deaths.... well - maybe apart from those from genuinely mentally disturbed people ... like women who stab a sleeping husband whose entire family says he was not violent, and who have mad eyes anyway or the genuinely violent man who does a woman in.

Yes it did - as part of overall family/relationship issues (not violence unless it is violence - no more abuse of the English language to suit some whining losers) it can be fairly discussed once a round table of all interest groups is established and properly run... with equal representation of men and women... and I don't mean feminised or pussified men, either - real men who know the issues....  the much maligned MRAs and such...

BTW - in one of her 'other' moods, Mothra attempted to disparage me for saying that MRAs were not radical enough - she didn't bother to ask what I meant - I meant they still assumed that applying decency and reason would resolve the often dire things imposed by out of control feminist control over relationship issues.  Forty odd years of reason decency and facts have made no impact whatsoever on the ratbags running that show....and the violence on all sides has escalated as a result... so they need to get more active and radical to get their point across....

It's bizarre that women and blacks and ethnics are coddled and cuddled for being radical and demanding and threatening like Nazis and even shoving police around at demos - but if White men do anything at all to get a word in - they are radical and Nazis and women and black bashers... figure that out.

Control over the parameters of discussion of relationship issues must be wrested from frankly insane women and those 'men' who support the same insanity... and let me tell you .. my saying the same things elsewhere - say to Bro Shorten via Twitter - gets a hell of a lot of positive female responses.

Friends, family, workplaces and colleagues are also stalked.

The fact is, the laws have not yet caught up with the technology. They are light years behind and getting more and more behind every day.

Ye Grappler.....why is it that every time a Topic about domestic violence..this one including cyberspace.....you always ambush it with your personal gripe/agenda which might very well be soundly based.

You will drive people off the subject with your obsession.

Mothra made the damn discussion non gender, but you did not see that because of personal blinkers.

Fact is...people get harassed on the www.....including intra spouse.  Isn't that the Topic?

grap likes to play the white male victim as often as possible. I'm guessing his life has not ended up where he had planned, so now he spends his time looking for excuses, rather then looking within.

Not at all - I stand against wrong without fear or favour.... better than being a poseur who purports to stand for Indigenous rights to demand changes to a public holiday or for the right of women to endlessly whine about nothing and get it heard while the true victims - men and their children - are locked out of discussion.

What have YOU ever done for the Indigenous or for women - apart from slag at others?

But I've never pretended to be a spokesman for indigenous rights. That doesn't mean I don't call out bullshit when I see it. And you sir, are full of sh1t

Just trying to stop the violence, ma'am - can't stop the violence by allowing one 'side' in an artificially created conflict free rein to attack the other.... and then bringing in the government to stomp on somebody on suspicion and even go much further...

Remember that African nation... I thought that was very apt...

Yes - cyber-stalking is an issue - but hardly one in which there is direct contact and thus potential confrontation that may MAY lead to violence.

How many such are simply poor heartbroken souls trying to restore their relationship and get a chance with their own kids?  Is that really 'stalking'?

Seems to me that far too often the 'side' asking for peace and resolution is the one pood upon by this current piss-poor approach.  Women have to man up and take some responsibility sometime and not just carry on about their 'feelings'..... what about other people's feelings?  Worthy of no more than a punch in the face from a copper and a fit-up to send him to prison with a magistrate pretending to be a knight in shining armour when he's a total arsehole.

These 'laws' should never have passed first hearing in a  court of LAW.....and should have been immediately sent back for re-writing - starting with removing the deeply offensive and wrongfully used term 'violence' for all such cases.

Then a fair approach would have been to make any 'orders' on both sides - and not hang men out to dry as some sort of vicious and nasty woman-bashers over any trivial nonsense.

It's not just women who use this. I had a male neighbour take out a dvo on me over 20 years ago. I never threatened him, I never beat him, his excuse was he "felt" threatened after being led down the path by whoever gives this crap advice... Because of that and my firearms license I was raided by cops with metal detectors. I appeared in court and said I have no need or want to contact him or be near him. It's not just women that use this shite.

Who attacked Mothra?  Never said a word against her personally - just laid out what is wrong with relationship issues handling...

Note how I've begun to remove the overly emotive and totally misleading terms from MY discussion.... perhaps the rest of you could approach reality for a change...

Relationship Issues - good title - that way the pigs won't go armed for bear and ready to beat on someone - and maybe get shot while trying.... maybe that way 'magistrates' will view these things from BOTH sides instead of one, and by doing that latter, making matters worse - not better.

Intervention and Revolution - you run around intervening without proper cause, inflicting unwarranted violence on one side of every disagreement - and you are the perpetrator of violence yourself - not the answer to it.

Now we've all got that out of or systems, time to bring the topic back on track.

Family violence is understood as being very much about power dynamics. The old adage of coming home after a bad day and 'kicking the dog' holds true. Usually, people who feel a lack of control in their lives seek to exert power in ways they feel they can be effective. This is not always true but it is true more often than not.

This is where authorities come in . to attempt to redress power imbalances.

It is a natural consequence of technology that is be used by people so inclined to seize power. Or whatever they can wrangle that mimics it.

As previously mentioned, the laws,(that which would be implemented to redress power imbalances) are not anywhere near keeping up the technology available.

This is true across the board with our current technology

So some persist in the utterly false belief that by bringing the state into it, a power balance will be achieved?  Are you not seeking, by introducing the overwhelming power of the state, to impose massive and overwhelming power on the structure - thus removing any power in that relationship of the person so assaulted by the state?

Long, long ago I stated that the problem of imbalance of power in a relationship was the problem, but that handing to one side exclusively total control, that totally obviated any concept of balance of power, and created, instead, a dictatorship of one it that relationship.

Setanta - it's not that it didn't work - it could never work, because it merely shifted power from one side to the other without addressing imbalance in any way - but instead installing blatant abuse of one side backed up by the state as the norm.

That was one of the issues I raised with the NSW 'law reform commission' in 1992 over this very issue of relationship issues.

Anyone who feels that there is some 'right' to exercise massive force in a generally innocuous situation is insane.... and is the cause of escalating violence up to and including deaths.  The proof is right in front of you all....

Do not be mislead by the facile words of the power hunters... this entire gamut of non-laws was introduced in NSW for the sole purpose of creating situations on as little as zero evidence of wrongdoing, so as toaenable the state to remove licenced firearms.  It was never about violence as such, since violence could already be acted upon using existing law, but in the hands of those determined to extend the 'definition' of violence as far as possible in their pursuit of power - but violence ONLY against women no matter how flimsy the definition - it has become pure violence against men with the clear aim of removing from men all personal power and even rights, and thus bringing our kind of society to its knees and ripe for any power-hungry fool to take over.

Do NOT believe one word from the mouths of feminists. They do not wish to prevent violence - they wish to replace it with violence against men only, and thus control society through a reign of terror and disempowerment of the individual - so that they and their mates can take the top spots and dictate as they wish.

That's why some call them feminazis..

I was talking about the thread getting back on track.

Anyway - I have yet to see any figures on this alleged cyber-stalking and to see any breakdown of exactly what is involved in these alleged incidents.

I'd also like to see some proof of what actually occurs.

We all know that Slim Mehajer rang his departed up etc and said some pretty awful things - but I venture to say that the majority of attempts to0 contact are actually attempts at reconciliation.  It is highly likely given the current handling of such issues, that many will be accused and even charged for simply seeking a reasonable and openly discussed settlement.

When you remove from one party the absolute right to a fair and open discussion, and you cover over the refusal of the other party by attempting to label the attempt at reconciliation an act of violence (by current ridiculous standards) - and you then substitute the pursuit of a fair and reasonable discussion of issues with direct violence from the state - you are engaging in an act of state social war - not just simple violence - but an act of war against that party - and by extension against all other members of that 'party' as currently defined in this out-of control handling of relationship issues.

Hiding behind accusations of violence based on zero genuine violence is nothing but a childish and cowardly way of not accepting responsibility for an effective resolution.

No wonder, when confronted by violence as the response to an attempt at reason, many reasonable people turn to violence.

I've explained that with regard to bullying before - you simply cannot resolve bullying as an issue by bullying bullies... and you certainly cannot stop violence by installing violence as your chosen approach to reason.  Placing the state directly in the position of being the biggest bully on the block will eventually bring down the state...... trust me on this.... this currently goes a long way towards explaining the utter distrust of and dissatisfaction in governments.

Stoopid is as stoopid does - as they allus say down in Green Bow.

grap there is plenty out there

kids committing suicide after relentless abuse in cyberspace......even adult celebrities  have been under the pressure  of it......

grap this is in the op..

I know all that, cods - I'm just asking for figures on this new 'poor women' thing - how many are copping cyber-abuse and what is in that 'abuse'?  Like lumping every little thing into 'domestic violence', without a careful splitting of events into meaningful categories, no truth can even be approached, but the utter stigma of 'violence' adheres forever to the accused.  This is propaganda pure and simple.

How many people can actually do that Amber thing, and how many actually do it?  One extreme report doth not a spring make...

Most such claims will turn out to be attempts at communication in the interest of resolving issues.

When there is a clear case, it cannotbe too hard to track down the perpetrator - but lumping every attempt at communication and possible reconciliation in the same basket is fraught with danger for all.

At some point, a fair hearing of the actual issues must take place, with both sides sitting down and laying out their truth, as opposed to the current confrontational and one-sided approach over these issues that precludes one side accepting any responsibility for any reasonable behaviour in any way.

Feelings and alleged feeling simply do not cut it, and thee is no right to punish people for someone else's feelings, and there never will be.

Sounds like one of them US stories..... you know, the ones where mothers shoot their three kids and go off to visit their boyfriend ... such incidents are few and far between...

We of Australia are not the world's policeperson - we have no effect on gay murders in Iran or FGM cutting in Ethiopia or wherever, or rapes in India, or tribal cutting off of boobs in Rwanda (yes, we did act there, too late as usual) or the raw number of events like 'Amber's' in a population vastly bigger than ours.

We can ONLY deal with here and now, so let's first limit it to Australian events.  Using events in Faroffistan to start a campaign based on fear and misrepresentation are not helping anyone.

Somebody bring on the "99.9% are unreported!!" - if they're unreported how do you know they even exist?

dont forget grap  cyberspace is pretty new.....the tools they now have are also making it easier for people who have a penchant for making someone elses life miserable..... stalking is now becoming the norm....

it is invading all sides   your obsession with turning everything into an anti male episode is confusing the whole point of the threads.....

we cant help stats.... and the stats say a women per week is murdered by a male.....

these stats are 2017

Males were involved in 82.6 per cent of adult male deaths, 93.5 per cent of adult female deaths and 55.6 per cent of child and youth deaths.

Women, on the other hand, were charged in 12.5 per cent of all deaths, with 10.3 per cent accused in adult male killings, 6.5 per cent of adult female killings and 44.4 per cent of child killings.

In a small number of cases there were multiple perpetrators.

Domestic violence continues to be a major factor in Australian deaths.

Former or current partners or family members were charged in 39 per cent of the killings in 2017.

About 47.5 per cent were committed by strangers, friends or associates of the victims while ‘relationship unknown’ applies to 13.6 per cent of cases.

Not surprisingly, most of the female and child deaths led to a relative being charged, with 72.9 per cent of femicides and 76.5 per cent of filicides allegedly committed by a loved one.

The body of Karen Ristevski was found in Victorian bushland earlier this year.

The body of Cooktown woman Donna Louise Steele was found wrapped up in a creek in August this year.
Total men killed = 108. Total women killed = 48. Total children and young people killed = 17.

THESE numbers are more than symbols on a page.

Every one of these figures represents someone who was loved, cherished, adored and appreciated by family and friends.

All of these victims were Aussies who had the same kind of dreams and aspirations as you and I.

Some of were tiny human beings with an entire lifetime ahead of them, many were grown men and women, and some, well they were in the twilight of their existence.

Not one of these people deserved to have their life snuffed out.

Alleged male perpetrators = 82 per cent. Alleged female perpetrators = 12.5 per cent

It's hard to excise and only talk about one aspect. Sure, men kill more, they are also much more successful at suicide. Women abuse children more often, women are just as violent in every other aspect than death and serious injury, men are stronger. Women stalk men, men stalk women.

We are both, men and women, as bad as each other, neither side has any claim on righteousness. There is no good side. What Grap is trying to say is that taking one part and ignoring the whole is not going to find a solution.

Not only is much of that wildly untrue, you're gaslighting Cods. She knows what Grap is saying. he says it ad infinitum.

What Grap is saying is not that it an an equal problem, i tried to make it gender neutral and got howled down. Grap is very much about gender bias ... but it against women.

Grap believes, and aggressively dominates every thread on this subject with his beliefs. that most cases of family violence are not genuine. That men are simply being victimised by a feminist supported attack on men who are then the victims of the "true violence". That being the intervention of the authorities.

He believes there is a gender war against men. that men are largely innocent in this and are the true victims of family violence.

Of course, the research and evidence does not support this.

Grap has even claimed that Australian men do not rape.

He is utterly delusional.

Grap is bitter because he was on the receiving end of a AVO he doesn't feel he deserved ... yet i can see, going by his behaviour on here, that he is very likely to have been abusive. Like many men, he is resistant in recognising his affect on other people and just how intimidating and frightening an angry man can be. Whether or not he was physically violent is of course unknown yet there is a distinct pattern of dominance and abuse in his behaviour ... i think you can stick your hand up for that also.

There is absolutely no question that women can be abusive also and we are often masters of psychological warfare. This is something we need to address more openly than we do yet the facts remain that the immediate risks of safety and physical harm come generally from the violence of men  both to us and to each other.

Furthermore, Grqap blames women (specifically feminists) for th lack fo support for male victims, overlooking entirely the fact that not only do feminist inspired programs work tirelessly to implement support for men( i am one of them), the primary contributing factor in men not seeking help is because of the stigma attached by society and other men to a man who has been abused by a woman.

You'd probably call him "poofy".

The irrefutable fact is that there is a problem with some men and violence Blaming feminists for it is ridiculous. It was around a long time before we hit the ground.

And something like the Gillette ad comes along to try to address it and you all get triggered. Never have i seen such a display of entitled whinging. The funny thing is, you nearly riot over it being suggested you strive for a higher path yet demand your right to 'offend' as many people as possible in a backlash to PC.

You'll never see it though. And you won't agree with a word of this.

Doesn't make me any less right though.

his opening line he is mocking the op.....

why bring in murders when its about cyberspace.??..

as mothra has pointed out we know women can be just as evil....and do stalk and abuse.....but if it WAS A RACE.. the men would be WINNING....and that by jove is a FACT..

there is no reasoning with grap on this one....he believes a lot of what is reported is fake....he believes the word assault...should only mean one thing....

assault= black eye

abuse= shouting which is not violence.. in graps mind..

whos to blame...

well thats probably the women who provoked the assault/abuse....

right now at this very moment the NRL is in the grip of sordid videos  being sent around of players off field activities.....a communication devise is being used .............for revenge.maybe!..it is and will ruin marriages and careers...... so far the only person being held to account is those in the actual video...they are paying the full price....

eventually they will have to make laws to deal with those who think what they do is harmless....

and from what I read   it is MALES that are abusing cyberspace....

VILE WORDS CAN KILL PEOPLE... >:( >:(

And i think here, Grap has a point. The research doesn't suggest that it is predominantly males abusing cyberspace ... yet the media tends to focus only on them.

I made this point at the beginning of the thread but it got steamrolled over.

The fact remains though that the stakes tend to be higher when males do it . ie: there is a greater likelihood of violent outcome.

And therein lies the rub for people who want equal representation for family violence. Men are made complicit more often than women by the media and this highly antagonises many people.

Yet those antagonised are comparing apples to oranges. Yes it is true that women are also complicit yet when looking at that objectively, family violence perpetrated by women seldom ends up in death or grievous bodily harm.

And that is the bottom line.

While we seriously should, as a society, look closely at the interpersonal habits of ourselves and each other, we need to stem the flow of what is most pressing.

Unfortunately for people like Grap, this is seen as an attack on men.

I am more hopeful. I see addressing the more obvious points of family violence as a vehicle to more intense scrutiny and better understanding.

This is what gives me hope.

I also said its all pretty new.....

as far as I can make out no one intentionally claims everything bad is a male syndrome...in the case of the op   it is a male...he has been charged...

it isnt until someone makes a charge and it ends up in the court   the stats start....I honestly believe these footballers who are being outed   should have a case against those who send it to the media..... it doesnt get there by itself does it???>..

so far I havent seen any of this behavior from females sports people....

cyber bullying    mocking/ making fun of... is just the beginning...it needs to be nipped in the bud and anyone found doing it   be charged.....we are very weak in this dept   we wait until something gets really out of hand before we act...

I would think the stats are just starting to come in on this one....the focus has been on kids abusing other kids.....

now we are seeing the results of what the bigger kids can do with this monster..

mothra    you may not have seen it.. but recently very recently I was abused on ozpol by a member...I am still not over it...when I think about what he said I feel sick...so if this happened every day for weeks on end   like some of these cases appear too.....then I fear for the victim I really do   and it needs to be dealt with strongly.....enough of that.. I am now going out....

Unfortunately for people like Grap, this is seen as an attack on men.

I am more hopeful. I see addressing the more obvious points of family violence as a vehicle to more intense scrutiny and better understanding.

This is what gives me hope.

No, my dove - it is an attack on rights and on truth to proceed without evidence with a fair expectation of it ending as proof.  Huge difference to simply attacking men.  the attack on men is government sponsored for the purposes of allowing the weak and self-interested 'men' and 'women' in politics to have no real competition... and is dedicated to bringing the entire society under despotism of a ruling elite who know it all better than those who live it.

What would give some hope to everybody would be that round table discussion of all interest groups - Shortenski is still locked into the concept of stopping violence against women and children, and is continuing to ignore the realities - such as that children suffer more violence and abuse from women than from men.  What about men and their children being supported?

Do men and particularly men already aggrieved by this have an offer of a seat at the table?  NO!  A few manginas maybe - but Men?  Never!

Still stuck on the old and worn out paradigm of 'man evil - woman angel' - utter  nonsense and will never resolve the real issues, and Shortenski obviously sees benefit in this.. indeed if he approached it in any other way than the City Hall approved one - he would be ousted and vilified as some form of woman hater.

Such people should never be allowed anywhere near these issues - because they will inevitably inflame them more, not solve them.  Throwing more and more power of the state against individuals will result in more deaths - ye've my word on it... I'm not promoting it - I'm saying it is inevitable while ever this approach is taken of exerting violence to purportedly cure violence.   :-/  :-/  :-/

and from what I read   it is MALES that are abusing cyberspace....

And i think here, Grap has a point. The research doesn't suggest that it is predominantly males abusing cyberspace ... yet the media tends to focus only on them.

I made this point at the beginning of the thread but it got steamrolled over.

You are right, cods - the problem is with the paradigm which rejects any genuine attempt to even consider the whole gamut of issues involved in relationship issues.  That automatically makes men the offenders regardless of facts and realities, and abuses rights and law in doing so.

Remember that African nation with two tribes?  What about NAZI Germany pitting Germans against Jews and others in Germany?  Same plot line.... same result... greater and greater control by government through abuse of its powers and privileges, and never-ending and escalating violence.

You'll all see it one day.

As for cyberspace violence - you can:-

a) Put restrictions on who can purchase this stuff - and thus create an underground market which is more dangerous.  Pushing people underground is a slippery slope to crime.

b) Licence it. NO licence, no buy - but run the risk above.

c) Place heavy penalties for misuse constituting actual threat.  If it's telephone or internet, it's on the service provider to keep a record and if there is true guilt (not true grit), report and give full information to authorities.

d)  Ban it entirely from sale and use and run the risks of a black market with descent into criminal behaviour.  Once a small step has been taken into crime, the next one is easy ......

e) Pinpoint the illegal user electronically and drone-bomb (Predator) him/her.

f) Mandate installation of a signal that will send position etc. (see e) above)...

If you are serious about an African nation with two tribes I have no need to go back, as it is just some fantasy you have created
