Title: The 'ex Member' issue.
Post by Bewdy on Jan 23rd, 2019 at 9:30pm
FD...can you please post when this has been fixed.  The obvious and immediate concern arises from what Setanta has posted.....that anyone could now randomly become an 'ex Member.'

What is an ex-member?

Is it like a sort of ban?

How does one get to become an ex-member?

Can ex-members post?

Is it a virus/malware?

Inquisitive minds want need to know.

admins have the ability to deactivate accounts altogether - after which they appear as "ex member".

I'm assuming though in this case it wasn't done deliberately.

Suggesting that the cure is a simple reversal by use of the 'activate account' button?

It's some kind of bug. I'll fix it in the next few days.

If it is of any help...just prior to the ex thing happening, when I hit the submit button for a post by Aussie, I got some message about something being 'forbidden.'

A list of ex Members.  Gordon, Setanta, Longweekend, John Smith, Bobby and Aussie.

I've had a first crack at it. I could not find a clean version of Gordon's account so will have to look for that tomorrow. For the rest, your password may have been reset to an old one.

I have fixed Gordon's account. Is that all of them? Is everyone able to log back in?

I will run some forum maintenance scripts soon. You might loose access to the forum for a bit.

I have run the full suite of forum maintenance functions. If I restored your account and you lost your post count that should be corrected now.

Not sure if we were still having the page turn issue on any threads, but if you recall any please check if that is also fixed.

Nah, not in my case.  Not that it matters.

Looks like some of the threads have their view count messed up also. Not sure if this was caused by the bug or the forum maintenance.

The New Ice Age thread was messed up before the maintenance.  It was messed up when Bobby was listed as ex-member.

Oops I did it again. The forum is 'safe' to use now. The following accounts were corrupted:

Agnes
agnes
Lee
Yadda
freediver
Cherie

I have restored the Yadda and freediver accounts. No luck yet with the others. Not sure what their 'name' was - this is the name they first registered with, and the name that appears in the URL when you click on their account (if it is working).

Agnes and lee should also be fixed now.

I'll redo the forum maintenance this weekend to fix any other leftover issues.

I thought I saw two different agnes accounts - one with an upper case and one with a lower case A. Was I seeing things?

Still haven't figured out the Cherie account.
